I got my choice of chicken noodle soup or chicken mushroom soup, a choice of starters (there was a few to pick from, I went for the spring rolls) and a choice of mains (that covered everything from curries to chow mein) that were served with either rice or chips. Oh, and a free portion of prawn crackers was thrown in which is never a bad thing. I ordered the chicken noodle soup, spring rolls and chicken curry with fried rice. Delivery took about 45 minutes but as it was the weekend, that is definitely expected (It arrived just at the point I was moving into the hangry zone). The soup was delicious, as were the spring rolls (there were 5 or 6, I can't quite remember) and the prawn crackers were really tasty. The curry was served in a long tray whilst the rice came in a smaller tray. The curry was nice; plenty of chicken, onions and the sauce was of the perfect consistency. It wasn't the best curry I have ever tasted but it was a nice meal and I was pleased with my meal. I ordered a 2 litre bottle of juice as well which was £2.50 but that's pretty standard if you're ordering juice from a take away!

My sausage and mushroom pizza was completely devoid of a base sauce which made the cheese taste plasticky and feel squeaky to bite into. There were plenty of mushrooms but the sausage was on the sparse side. The dough was incredibly dry and dense. Our "focaccia" wasn't really a focaccia at all. It was a garlic pizza bread with some rosemary thrown on. Despite being a bit cold it tasted nice. You can't really go wrong with those flavours. My husband loved his Italian burger though. He had such a different experience of this place but when I offered him a slice of my pizza he agreed with me on all counts. There was pretty much nothing authentic about the Italian food from this place. The pizza tastes like one you would order from an Indian restaurant, which I never do, and the focaccia was tasty but NOT a real focaccia bread. An hour and a half later I called up to find out when I'd be receiving my order only to be told that they hadn't received it, even though I had an email confirmation AND a pending direct debit from my account. I have order from this take away before without a problem but they were clearly not up for helping and tried to pass the blame to the website. We had that usual "I don't know, what do you want?" back and forth before I suggested getting what we've coined "an Indian pick 'n' mix"... A selection of dishes so we can try loads of things and pick at them instead of having a heavy curry. Tonight we ordered a set meal of chicken chasni, pilau rice and popadoms with spiced onions to share. We also got a couple of different pakoras (fish and chicken) and a portion of chips, cheese and chicken tikka because it sounded intriguing. Hubby opted for some Peshawari naan because he is crazy for it and says it feels like he's getting a dessert! Yes, yes, I know that is a mega feast. Don't judge us. The Good - those intriguing chips, cheese and chicken tikka were soooo good. Ultimate comfort food and exactly what I needed. Those fluffy chips, sharp cheese and delicious mild chicken tikka chunks worked like a massive cuddle and I was so happy we ordered them. The Bad - Fish pakora. It looked like frozen chunks of fish and the batter didn't even coat the entire pieces. It was overcooked and chewy with no flavour. I had one piece and gave up. The Average - The chicken chasni had lovely flavours and was on the hotter side of medium but it had hardly any chicken in it and came across as a little stingey. The vegetable pakora was nice. Not great. Not bad. Just some nice vegetable pakora. The Peshawari naan was super sweet. This isn't my favourite dish because I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but the actual naan bread tastes pretty good and wasn't overly doughy. Overall our food was a bit hit and miss. I'd been recommended Chanda Cottage by a couple of people for the next time we fancied having a little buffet for dinner, but it's not convinced me to change from our usual place. I can't guarantee I won't be back for those chips though when I need a good comfort food hug though.

Nom nom nom! This…read moresandwich shop on Barrachnie Road is a great place to pop in for lunch. It's nice to have a non-chain, not pre-packaged sandwich once in awhile. Unfortunately they are currently in the process of opening a Greggs 2 or 3 doors down from here, but hopefully it won't affect their business too much. All sandwiches are freshly prepared to your specifications - which is a nice change from the norm! I've bought sandwiches from here a few times recently and have always been pleasantly surprised. It get pretty busy when the high school is out for lunch, but apparently they are keeping kids in beginning very shortly so that may change. Overall, great place to grab a wee lunch, and I hope it sticks around!

It gets pretty busy at the weekends, but they are friendly, quick, and have plenty of seating, newspapers, and a TV to see you through. They also have some good set menu options, with meals for 1 and 2 for as little as £10-15. If you're like me and enjoy the basics, it's a safe bet and a cheap dinner all round. Unlike most establishments in this area, it seems to have held onto the same management for quite some time now. Thankfully, this means that the food is consistently good and the menu is upgraded once in awhile. Not bad at all.
