I just went back and tried to delete my old (a little cranky) review of Chicago Pizza. In hindsight, it was basically about one former staff member rather than the restaurant itself. That person has been gone for a while now, and no, it had nothing to do with me! Since Don and Jessica took over as the new owners, the transformation has been nothing short of miraculous. I actually feel a little bittersweet writing such a positive review because I'm genuinely worried I'll show up one day and have to sit on the roof to get a table. But credit where it's due--these two have turned this place into something really special. The food was always fantastic, and they're still tweaking things because "excellent" apparently wasn't good enough for them. The staff is warm and amazing, the vibe is genuinely friendly, and the interior now feels so cozy and inviting that I could easily be guilty of lingering way too long (and honestly, they wouldn't mind). The TV setup alone deserves its own award--it's like they figured out the perfect answer to "How many screens is too many?" and the answer is simply "More." What I'm looking forward to is the day some actual Chicago natives walk in and give their honest verdict. That'll be the ultimate test. If they look around, take a bite, and nod in approval, we'll know Don and Jessica didn't just renovate the place... they truly honored the Chicago spirit. This spot has become the closest thing Cape Coral has to a Cheers-style hangout. (Yes, I know Cheers was in Boston, but if Don and Jessica keep this up, I wouldn't be surprised if someone starts yelling "Norm!" when I walk through the door.) Not sure if that's flattering or a little concerning, but I'll take it. This place is a rock-solid 5 stars. And if bonus stars existed for rapid improvements, I'd need an entirely new rating scale. We heard they have a new owner not sure for how long, didn't care for their pizza a couple years back. We got the Chicago thin crust & it was great, their sausage & beef is from Fontanini Italian Meats & you can definitely tell the difference at places if it is not from an authentic Chgo meat company. They have coke fountain drinks that are very good (a lot of restaurants have terrible soft drinks because they don't calibrate them like they should). We also had the Chicago nuggets which is basically garlic bread pieces soaked in butter with a cold red sauce to dip in. Server was excellent, we'll be back! read more

When we heard that Chicago Pizza had new owners, we knew we had to check it out--and we weren't disappointed! We were greeted by a genuinely friendly bartender who clearly loved her job. The subtly renovated restaurant was cleaner than we'd ever seen it, and all three of us immediately noticed the completely refreshed atmosphere. The local hometown gathering place was BACK, and the excitement was visible on every face in the room. Unbeknownst to me, I was sitting next to the new owner, Don. He was extremely welcoming. Once a patron himself, Don understands exactly what this bar means to locals and snowbirds alike. He's making a real effort to restore that authentic Chicago spirit--even if he's from Ohio! He truly gets it. The three of us shared a large, thin-crust double pepperoni and cheese pizza. It was delicious, though the pepperonis were tucked under the cheese, so they weren't as crispy as I prefer. Surprisingly, the bartender mentioned she likes hers with the pepperoni on top and suggested we try it that way next time. It's nice to see they're happy to accommodate personal preferences--a refreshing change from the previous owner, who never allowed any modifications. To top it off, my husband ordered an espresso martini--his ultimate test. It was good, though he's not a fan of Baileys in his martini. Impressively, the bartender remembered his preference and said she'd stock what he needed for his next visit. All I can say is--CHICAGO PIZZA is BACK! We were looking for a Chicago Bears bar with good food in Cape Coral. Google AI search failed us, and we stumbled upon this delicious tasty pizza joint with a bar. We got a Chicago tavern style pizza, and it's actually BETTER than a few great spots in Chicago! They also have pan pizza which I will have to get next week. They were very busy, but once we were seated, the food came out pretty quick (expect to wait longer for pan). The wings were great as well! read more

So glad to have found a true Chicago pizza restaurant in SW Florida!! The inside is very inviting and locals could be found at the bar. Decor of Chicago sports memorabilia to include the 85 Chicago Bears! We had the garlic knots appetizer, delish. Then we got both the traditional thin crust as well as the deep dish pizzas. My friend and I ate the thin crust which was absolutely delicious! Dad had the deep dish as said it was very good. Can't wait to try their Italian beef and Chicago style dogs next time!! The ChiTown Tots Are Great! We have been fans of this pizza place for a few years and typically order the Antipasti Plate Salad or Side Salads with our large pizza, but tonight we tried the ChiTown Tots appetizer ($10.00) just because it sounded good. Our server did tell us that it is very popular and we would enjoy it. So the plan was that we would have the Tots as an appetizer, then the pizza would come out as our meal. Not sure what happened tonight, but the pizza was out fast and the Tots were still in the oven, hence the lower rating for service tonight. As for the Tots - OUTSTANDING. The long porcelain 'boat' was loaded with crispy fried or baked tater tots, topped with Italian beef, giardiniera and topped with melted mozzarella cheese. This dish clearly spent some time in the oven as it was super hot and kept the tots hot from start to finish. My wife and split this and had just a little of our pizza. This is the closest thing to home that I have found, the only thing missing is the Chicago service and warmth. This review is solely on the pizza. A friend recommended we try this spot and she helped me find a gem. The place is nice and open, it feels like an older Chicago restaurant, lots of Chicago memorabilia, but it does feel outdated. The staff was meh, not mean, but nothing amazing. We came here on a Sunday expecting to watch a bears game but we were shocked that they didn't have it playing and when asked they had no idea, it didn't make sense if you're establishment that is focused on all things Chicago. Regardless we got the tavern style, thin pizza and we loved it. Closest thing to home, I almost teared up when I saw the square slices. Yelp helped us find this place, arrived just after opening on Sunday morning, we had the place to ourselves for about 30 minutes, the service was off to a slow start so it gave me chance to absorb the good ole' days of the Chicago sports area when the city was full of exciting sports achievements, the decor was left behind in the late 80, early 90's sad the decorations had not kept up with the Cubs world series win, that in itself is an historical achievement. Ordered a tavern style cheese pizza, which was okay but not something I would have to come back for. Two Chicago style hot dogs and an Italian sub sandwich, the hot dogs were ok but not worth 8.50 each and the Italian sub was a little light on the meat portions. Hmmmmm. First and second visits were amazing with excellent pizza and the very best gold nuggets (garlic bread) you have ever had the pleasure of tasting. We tried to take guests for a third visit. The restaurant closes at 8PM on Mondays and we would arrive at 7:30 so we called to make sure it was okay. After the AI phone service said it was enough time, the guy who answered the phone was either high or half asleep. He made it clear that he was not interested in having any additional customers. We elected to try a new pizza place closer to home. The gold nuggets might make me overlook the poor experience, but we will have to be driving by and be hungry. The employees here are super friendly and nice. The vibe is one of a neighborhood bar, and no one is a stranger. In fact I witnessed a birthday cake being presented to a patron at the bar. Then everyone sang happy birthday to him. How cool! And, if you're a Chicago Bears fan, you'll find Bear memorabilia adorning the walls. I ordered a 12 inch (small) cheese, and meatballs deep dish pizza ($20.00). To drink I had a Mich Ultra draft ($4.00). "Bryce" was my server and he did a great job - friendly, courteous, prompt, and hard working. It only took about 15 minutes for my pizza to arrive. The pizza was good. The sauce was good, and the cheese was very good. However, I was a little disappointed in the crust. It was dry (IMO) and I had difficulty cutting it with my knife - embarrassingly "launching" a small piece off my plate and table. But, no one was hit, so no foul, no harm, ha! I will definitely return to try their thin crust pizza and one of their famous Chicago Dogs, and Italian Beefs. Amazingly good food and even better service I'm a Chicagoan and have been coming to SW Florida since I was young....I have NEVER been able to find good pizza down here...until today Their thin crust (which they SHOULD market as Tavern Style, the REAL Chicago style pizza...if you know ANYTHING about actual Chicago pizza ‍) was absolutely incredible ...I ordered mine with three toppings and extra sauce/crispy....unbelievably good , and the sausage has fennel seeds as it should If you are from Chicago and are looking for legit pizza from back home...this is as close as you're going to get I also ordered a Polish with fries, equally as well presented, fries were hand cut, et al Service was also absolutely top notch and took care of a solo customer grabbing some post happy hour food to Uber home with perfectly.... Never again. Companion and I stopped in for the lunch special. The menu said spaghetti and meatballs (plural) I had expected two. Meal included side salad which was acceptable and garlic bread which was good. All I got was spaghetti with sauce and not a meatball at all. I had to call the waitress back and ask if meatballs come with the bowl of spaghetti. She returned to kitchen and brought one meatball back. The dish was average at best. Companion had the lunch special 8" pizza with three toppings. It didn't look like any pizza I've ever seen. She ate about half of it and it was so bad she couldn't finish it. The waitress was also the bar maid. She wasn't rude but from her attitude she obviously didn't want be serving the booths. We both felt like we were bothering her. This is a must stop okace for me and the family when we visit. Being from Chicago, it's nice to walk in and see all the Chicago sports memorabilia. We first went the other day but when we got there they said they were not serving food because they had no customers so released some of they staff. So we can the next day. Just a heads up if they close at 9 assume the kitchen closes one hour prior to that . We didn't know that and basically had 10 minutes to get 6 people to okace an order - wish they would have said something when we were first seated. The pizza is good and thin- nice and crunchy crust. The wings were decent and the fried raviolis were good - the house sale that accompany a tour meal looked plentiful and tasty . In my group we had a pizza - cheese raviolis and meat lasagne. This place is a disaster. Two out of the three times we have eaten there they screwed the orders up. And let me tell you they couldn't care less. We are in and ordered a sausage, green pepper, and onion pizza. They brought an onion only pizza. They were nice enough to comp $10 on a $26 pizza that we didn't eat. Then we ordered delivery last week. They did sausage all over on a half cheese half sausage pizza. And sent our dough bites with no sauce. I called to complain and they said the manager would call me to credit me back the pizza and how shocking they never followed thru. There are way way better pizza places in Cape Coral. read more
