I was very…read morenervous at first but the therapist, was very understanding and I didn't feel like she was judging me at all. I felt she was extremely knowledgable about child development and behavior. She helped me understand what was typical of my child's behavior and also provided me signs to watch out for and when to be concerned. As a new parent I am constantly worrying about my child. Is this behavior normal, is that behavior normal....it was great to have someone guide me and provide reassurance and support about my parenting fears, worries and concerns. The therapist had a very unique approach using play during our session. And I learned a lot about sleeping, eating, emotions, play and behaviors. She also gave me some very useful tools and strategies to use at home. She showed me ways to interact to be sure that not only does physical development thrive but that there is learning about how to understand and manage feelings. She explained to me that this would help me with tantrums and recovery from these meltdowns would be quick and easy! She showed me ways also to help strengthen self esteem, so that there is a feeling of confidence, which will encourage getting along with others and pave the way for a better behaved child. I would definitely recommend Child Therapy Chicago to any parents who have concerns about their kids or who maybe just want to figure out some of their own parenting stuff.

When I signed my autistic child up i was told that i would be paying monthly , a few months later they switched the rules & changed it to weekly which was a huge inconvenience for me because I don't get paid weekly, this caused me to fall behind in payments, the lady Jenna in the financial department is so unprofessional she calls & threatens to pause my son services & has kept him out of therapy for days at a time. I've spoken with the director & told her how unprofessional Jenna is & how rude she is. Today I received a call that they are dropping my son from the program because me & Jenna got into an argument once again because she called threatening to pause my son services. As far as the school itself I haven't seen much progress with my son, I've asked numerous times to speak with his other therapists to see what's going on , the only person that cared really was his BCBA Amanda, she's the only one who follows up with me & shows she really care about the kiddos. Would not recommend they only care about the money !!!

My son has attended a…read moregroup therapy session each week, some weeks 2x per week for 75 minutes that is run by a speech and occupational therapist for over 2 years now. So organized, always creative, lively, fun and interactive sessions. I have not found anything like it in all of Chicago and it is affordable, always a consideration when choosing therapies for a kiddo in need. They accept and bill insurance companies and are always easy to work with in every aspect. Very responsive to emails and questions which is so important especially when you as the parent might not know what might be going on or who to turn to with questions. I always appreciate that any request I have or concern to address, they help find a solution, have an idea or give a suggestion. They truly care about kids and try to help in any way they can. I have another child too and love that I am always able to bring him and comfortably wait in the waiting room without issue. I also kind of found it to be a nice place to meet other moms to talk things out when wanted or needed. we all need support! LOVE All Bright Therapies!!! If you've been damaged by the wrong fit with other mental health "care profesionals" I suggest using their directory and phone interviewing practitioners as a weeding out process. A lot of people on the list are cognitive, behavior, or psychodynamic therapists but do little day to day analysis in their practice. I'm still on my search even after the "intake" process. I was left feeling very much on my own in my search. Most recently when I called for another referral, as I was only given one and they never returned my calls, was reminded of an bill rather than given another option. To me this "institute" is just another hustle or meant for people with superficial issues or vague discontent. Good luck.

And if they aren't, then they aren't. But when I asked why they aren't, which I believe was a very VALID question to ask, she just said, "because we just aren't accepting new patients." I'm glad to know that a place that supposedly offers help for mental health, they really don't know how to talk to people/people in need. Uptown Research Helped me through some of the hardest times of my life. Social Security sent my…read moreredetermination papers to an old address so i did not know about it or fill the papers out. Im disabled and unable to work so when Social Security cut off my disability payments because they didn't get the papers back from me,and said they payed me 2 months too much and took what i had saved for emergencies; it shook my world. I couldn't pay my weekly rent at the sober house and had to move to a homeless shelter. One of the toughest in a rough part of town. The shelter I was at had 1 girl go to the hospital the night before i got there because she was sleep walking near the women beds and a bunch of girls beat her up. And there were several girls beating people up who slept too deeply and didn't wake up when they walked by. So i stopped taking my psych meds because 1 made me sleep walk and the others made me sleep real deep. By the grace of God i survived and made it to another shelter where i could take my meds again , but i was on shaky ground still from being off my meds. My anxiety was off the chain and my Post Traumatic Stress was messing with my mind some but i was aware of it . When I walked into Uptown Research the friendly receptionist lead me to Dr. Sonnenberg who was very nice and met me in His office. He asked me about my Psych issues and why i wanted to participate in the study. I explained my situation and that i could really use the money right now. He agreed and explained to me that i would need to go off some of my meds and try an experimental onein order to participate and he thought that was not a good idea for me at the time, since i was well managed by my medications. I agreed. I said that i was looking for a therapist to talk to for some time as well. Dr. Sonnenberg said i could meet his therapist for free since they didn't take Medicaid and my Medicare was cancelled by Social Security too. His Therapist is Paul Myers an Advanced Partitioner Nurse who saw me i think a couple times a week until i got out of the shelter and my Medicare was restored and i could finally pay them and get more stable and just see him once a week. He helped me when i was still squirrelly from going off my meds and has been my Therapist and Medicine Prescriber for 3 and 1/2 years now.Shortly after Social Security gave me back my benefits and i returned to the Sober House, My Mom was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Paul Myers really helped me be a better daughter to my Mom and help her through such a difficult time in her life.My Mom had an operation and some complications from it and spent months in Hospitals and some rehab in a nursing home. The Drs. kept coming in her room giving us bad news and complicated medical words which they explained but we were both freaking out in our heads after the bad news and barley heard what they said after. Paul Myers was a medical Advanced Practitioner Nurse too so he was able to explain the medical stuff to me when i was calmer and i could explain it to my Mom so we were less confused.He also saved my Mom. She became confused and had a high fever and the Drs. couldn't figure it out. I told Paul Myers about it and he said to ask the Drs. if it could be a UTI infection. They said they checked already but after i talked to them they gave her new meds and she got better. Paul Myers helped me cultivate a more understanding relationship with my Mom where i could be the strong one for her. He let me vent and share all my frustrations about my Moms incurable disease and hospitals and medical findings and show me such understanding that I could give that understanding to my Mother who was Really going through it. I don't trust people easily and Paul Myers has earned my trust and kept it all these years. Relationships have really baffled me and Paul Myers has taught me a lot. He is like a great friend who just listens at first and lets You get it all out. Then like a friend we just have a light conversation about it and he explains things. He doesn't give me too much advice, i think he knows i don't like to be told what to do. lol. When he does give me advice it is really good advice and i needed it to be better off. Once or twice i didn't agree with his opinion, he thinks i don't give myself enough credit, he didn't get an attitude, he just smiled leaned back and we agreed to disagree. A couple times he gave great input that i didn't try, then after doing it my own way and it not working i tried it his way and it it went well. I told him about it and he did'n say "I told You so" he just said "thats great".A couple times i really needed to talk to Paul Myers and couldn't get an appointment right away. I left Him a message on His private Voice Mail and he told me to come in on His lunch break. I am forever Grateful for Paul Myers and Dr. Sonnenberg and Uptown Research.
