I was told the burning happened because I had washed my hair that morning. I've never been told this before in any salon experience, and it did not feel like an adequate or professional explanation for the severity of what happened. I understand that chemical services carry some risk, but causing burns and bleeding indicates something went seriously wrong. I hope the salon takes this kind of situation more seriously in the future and improves both their application process and how they handle customer care when issues arise.
