So, we stopped by Mamma Puglia's for a drink to wait it out. They had some outdoor seating under an awning. The staff were nice and the prices were reasonable. And they offered a small selection of snacks, which smelled delish but we weren't hungry at that time. If we had more time in Modena, I would go back.
