The man took my card and swiped it- I tried to hold the debit machine that you enter your pin on toward me while entering my number but the cord was so taught I couldn't tilt the machine. I asked for my card back as my receipt was printing but the man insisted on holding it, just kept brushing me off with "hold on" - and directly after I entered my pin number he wrote something down on the side of his register where I couldn't see... After he gave me my receipt I had to again ask for my card back, which he'd been noticeably rubbing his thumb over the numbers while holding it and tried to be inconspicuous as he scribbled with his other hand at the side of the register. It didn't help that when I entered the store he'd been having a tiff with another customer... I'd been taken aback and wasn't sure if it was just friendly banter between two guys who were friends and knew each other or what but when the customer shoved something off the counter at him before he left and turned to me saying "watch out with this guy" as he left, I'd realized they were most definitely not friends... I was extra surprised and probably put on edge by the exchange and while it's possible I was overreacting and I can't guarantee the guy was stealing my account information- I was compelled to immediately go to my car and call the bank to cancel my card- which as anyone who's ever had to do this, knows it's a real pain. Better safe than sorry but rest assured I will never be going back to this gas station under any circumstances.
