I pulled up 40 minutes before they were supposed to close to get gas and use the restroom. Put my credit card into the pump got it started and ran it. I also need to clean my windshield but unfortunately there were no cleaning wands available. I asked the guy working there who was completely dis-interested in his job if they had any and he said he had already put them away for the night and as they were closing soon even though they still had 40 minutes and I couldn't see a thing out of my windshield Luckily the expensive pump was so slow that it only put 12 dollars worth of gas into my car in 5 minutes, so I just pulled the pump out and went down the street to a much better gas station.

Locally owned, well-run, and filled with people who genuinely care, it's more than just a place to fill up your tank or grab a bite to eat. The cooks here aren't just making food; they're putting heart into it. You can taste the effort, the consistency, and the pride in what they serve. They're kind, hardworking, and honorable in the way they treat customers. And the cashiers? They don't just ring you up, they know you, they greet you by name, and they remember your usual order before you even have to say a word. The environment itself is welcoming. No matter how your day is going, walking in feels like a little reset, like a place where people are happy to see you and where good energy seems to stick around. The car wash is another bonus, self-automated and always running smoothly, keeping vehicles spotless. It's a rare thing to find a spot that makes everyday errands feel like something more than just routine. This place does exactly that. Great stop!! We…read moregassed up before hitting I-10 west. The bathrooms were in good condition. What made this a great stop was the burritos! There is a Dickies BBQ on site, but that is just a chain. I noticed when I walked past to the restrooms that there was a window to the kitchen and a hand kept reloading the foil wrapped burritos into angled shoots full of goodness. There were three of us so my hubby snagged a chicken, steak and a bean & cheese. We got back in the car and headed on our way. I had the steak, he had the chicken and my sis-in-law had the bean & cheese. Mine had grilled pieces of steak, beans, cheese and chunks of potato. It had a great kick of green chile that let you know that Hatch was nearby. My husband took a bite of his and let out a "Woooo!" There was some heat rocking in his burrito. He asked his sis if she would like a trade and she did. (I wasn't giving mine up) She took breaks between bites to let the heat dissipate. That was legit! The bean and cheese was delicious as well. He enjoyed all of it. Good stuff!

This store....has it all!…read more Lots of different things to sell. Toys, relics, religious items, house goods and more. Most had solid pricing. They are a HUGE supplier of fireworks . Wait, people use fireworks other than July 4? Evidently, yes absolutely. . People buy from all around the US. Don't know if fireworks are popular in NM ??? The Godfather. $1100 package f fireworks- estimated would be about 4 hours of a show. They sell about 4-5 of the Godfather annually. I believe him We bought a few on smaller ones, I'm not comfortable with the big ones. Concerned about safety, losing a finger or eye is not acceptable. We used the fireworks that night. Can't take them home to CA! I listed two of the videos. They sold moccasins, but were fairly pricey. $60+. Unless that's a good price, unsure. World famous fudge ...I had to bite. $12 a pound was reasonable. They had 6flavors, I chose chocolate, peanut butter and chocolate with pecan. Fudge was good, but not amazing. Worth getting some, yes. The guy assisting me was super friendly. Chatted about the fireworks and their desert bot (transformer you know! Haha. ). Their mascot , is also available for sale if you are interested. $20k ). Also about his whereabouts, and why he moved from Alaska to NM. Super kind guy. Oh yeah, and it's also a gas station. . So maybe at least come to fill up .

Road trips have a way of making you stop for the most unexpected treasures, and for me, it all…read morestarted with a sign advertising homemade cookies a few miles back. You already know I had to pull over! From the moment I walked into Bowlin's Aleka Flats, the staff greeted me with genuine warmth. The store itself is such a fun place to browse--filled with unique Southwestern treasures like shirts, ponchos, serapes, moccasins, souvenirs, and so much more. Even if you only come for the cookies, you'll probably end up wandering the aisles for a bit. Speaking of cookies... I could see the staff constantly rotating fresh batches, so I knew they weren't sitting around getting stale. I also appreciated that they offered options with and without nuts. We ended up grabbing a dozen because, let's be honest, the price made it an easy decision. Individual cookies are just $0.99 each, but a dozen is only $9. We picked up six original chocolate chip, three sugar pecan, and three chocolate chip pecan cookies. One thing that stood out was watching the employee preparing the cookies while wearing gloves. It's a small detail, but it shows they take pride in food handling and cleanliness, and I always notice those things. The staff was incredibly friendly and even thanked me for stopping by... even though cookies were literally the only reason I came in. And yes, I'm on a road trip, so don't judge me! My kiddos thanked me the second they took their first bite, and that was all the confirmation I needed. These cookies were soft, chewy, fresh, and absolutely worth the stop. If you're driving through, do yourself a favor and pull over. Grab a dozen--you'll thank yourself later. I'll definitely be making this one of my regular road-trip cookie stops!
