Our normal Mexican restaurant was packed so we tried Cheves. Not very impressed. Chips and salsa; salsa was flavorless. No heat. Needed salt. The chips were overcooked bitter and on the verge of burnt. Being taco Tuesday we ordered El pastor tacos and chorizo tacos. The El pastor at least had some pineapple with noticeable caramelization, but otherwise not much on flavor. Chorizo tacos were again bland. Yes bland chirizo. The beans and rice served as a side... meh. The beans was more like soup with about 15 beans tossed in. Then at the end of the meal the server disappeared and I had to walk over to the order station and ask for my ticket. Won't be back. read more

I was visiting family and they took me to Cheves for dinner. It's a beautiful restaurant, large and very clean. The staff was very friendly. I can understand some of the comments about the language barrier, but we didn't have that issue. We ate in the dining room but they have a large bar area that looks fun. I ordered a burrito and we all shared white cheese dip. All of our entrees/ food were delicious and our waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. I will definitely be back. read more

I came in to the restaurant at 8:15 and was seated but got no menus. They gave us chips salsa and drinks. About 10 minutes later she refilled our drinks but never took our orders. We sat and waited. At 9 she came back with our ticket. I said we did not get to order yet and she came back saying they were closed because it was already 9 pm. I wish they would've at least told us that they would not have let us order. We waited 45 minutes for nothing. read more

While our server was kind, the actual service itself was borderline nonexistant. We were checked on a grand total of maybe two times after our food was delivered. Speaking of the food, my birria tacos were an amalgamation of meat amd mostly fat cooked in what tasted like unseasoned, straight tomato sauce. My partner's meat in their meal was so tough and gross that they stopped eating halfway through and just pushed their food around on their plate to make it appear as though they had eaten more. This was done in an effort to be polite, as my partner did not want to take the food home. I got halfway into one of my tacos before I, too, threw in the towel and decided I would just take the food home and maybe try and doctor it into something edible later so I wouldn't feel like I was wasting my money more than I already had. The wait for our server so that I may procure a box and, one would naturally assume, a check, was so long that I was considering having my partner go to the Walmart next door to get enough cash out to just leave on the table so we could go home. We did not do that. When at last my server arrived, they left to get me a box, and forgot our check. We did not notice until they were gone. We waited for a check. For someone to even just check on *us*, for literally ANYTHING, and sat there for another 20 minutes. My partner had to flag the server down to ask for the check, and made sure they stayed there as my partner grabbed their card lest we lose our server in this NOT BUSY, VERY DEAD, restaurant again. My gamily recommended this place to me. One of my favorite servers from a no-longer-open shop works here. I wanted so badly to like this place, but I do not. The only thing it has going for it is the aesthetic of the interior of the restaurant itself. I imagine maybe the bar is good, but I will never be going back to find out. Do not come here. You will waste your money and be treated like you don't exist while you choke down below sub par food. Also, your chips and salsa suck. read more

We were happy to see a new restaurant in Aurora. First visit was bad because of poor service due to servers not understanding English. We gave it another shot and it was only fair. Third time, NOPE! Even worse that the first time. The service at Cheves is horrible. Food is ok. Pitchers of beer are way overpriced. Can't recommend it. read more

Fantastic again. The food and the margaritas are the best. The margaritas will sneak up on you. Be careful.

Inside decor and atmosphere was good. We were seated and got chips and salsa immediately. Then we were forgotten about. 15 minutes after seating we flagged someone down got our drinks and food ordered (mind you we're all sitting there with open menus in front of us while servers are waiting surrounding tables). Food came quickly. Then again we were forgotten about. Ate our food which was medicore, waited and waited. Finally about 30 minutes after we were done eating (we hadn't been checked on once since food was brought out), we went to find to go boxes, then went to the hostess to pay our check (which was never brought to us). Servers were coming and going to surrounding tables and boothes but not once ever gave ours a thought. This was by far the worst service we've ever received over the years. Will never return nor recommend to anyone. read more
