Quite disappointed in our visit at this dental clinic. We were referred here for my 3.5year old…read moredaughter to get her tooth looked at. At first they didn't want me to come back with my daughter and said that kids do better when their parents aren't around (which I understand can be the case), but my daughter didn't want to go in a strange room with a stranger without me so they allowed me in. Long story short they tried to get x rays of my daughter and escorted me out quietly to try and distract her. As I waited in the waiting room I stood by the door to the X-ray room and my daughter began to cry, the dental assistant raised her voice at my daughter (I'll call her Anna for protection sake) and told her multiple times rudely " Anna stop crying, if you want to see your mommy you have to stop crying Anna" I stood behind the door feeling sick that I couldn't be there for my 3 YEAR OLD daughter and this woman wouldn't let her see me until she stopped crying. A couple minutes later they came out and the dental assistant acted all smiley and nice and my daughter was visibly upset still. For a first time visit to a paediatric dentist this was so beyond wrong! I would highly caution parents in letting their children go behind closed doors if this is how staff are treating kids (especially a 3 year old). No child should be spoken to like this or told they cannot see their parent! I did call and inform their office manager of what happened, but we will not be returning and again if you have young kids who can't fully communicate what goes on I wouldn't trust this clinic sadly.

In all he's had 3 fillings done here and I'm quite impressed with their services. It is a very busy practice and there are a lot of people in the waiting room. Expect to wait a month to get in for routine exams and treatments. Generally the staff is very pleasant. I do find one young receptionist a bit on the colder side but she does her job well so what can you do? I find this pediatric dental practice serves children much better than a regular dental practice could.

Also my son's…read morefamily dentist said that despite us always doing full dental care on him he had baby bottle carries on his lower teeth and would need drilling and filling under sedation (as he always freaked with her) so I was terrified for a horrible experience for him and, I know this sounds bad, but I huge bill since so many reviews called him a money grabber. We waited for 1 hour but once we got in Dr. Smith took his time with us. He answered all our questions and even answered questions we didn't know we had (i.e. why my toddler grinds his teeth). My son did very well for him and Dr. Smith intuitively knew when it was time to quit. He doesn't believe in pushing through a kid crying or screaming. I get this - if my son has a bad experience he will dread going to the dentist - and he may need many appointment so I'd rather not deal with him freaking each time. Dr. Smith is a bit socially awkward but was calming both for me and my son! I am a nurse and I work with doctors daily. There are those that are socially awkward in the smart, calming way (like Dr. Smith) and those that are social awkward in the conceited, weird way. Dr. Smith means well. Dr. Smith told us, from what he can see, it looks like my son just needs a scaling and a good cleaning. We have one booked in two weeks. So he's absolutely not trying to grab money (i'm sure sedation, drilling and filling on teeth would put much more money in his pocket then a few scalings!)! The hygienists were friendly, sweet and also very reassuring. Please don't worry about taking your kid here like I did. Remember people who are unhappy with an experience are always much much much more likely to write reviews. Dr. Smith and team thanks for dealing with an anxious mommy and kiddo today so well!

Ok, Dr Barsky is the dentist I had prior to moving on to Dr Chan. And why did I move? Well, Dr…read moreBarsky is a pediatric dentist. A dentist that I went to long after ceasing to be a child. Despite Dr Barky's assurances that I could stay until I had kids of my own (and even then), I decided to leave when one of the dental hygenists mistook me for my own mother. Having only glanced at my chart, she assumed "I" was quite small - 3 or 4, and that I was my mother. I was really offended, but decided it was time to move on. A waiting room is awesome when covered in kids toys, but it was a sacrifice I had to make to save my own dignity. That being said, there was a reason I went to Dr Barsky for so long. The purple office was upbeat and fun, and more than a little unusual. The chairs themselves are also purple, and there are cute pictures drawn by patients and posters everywhere. There are several flavours of fluoride available: from bubblegum to strawberry, and you got to pick from a cute chart with pictures. And if you were good, you got a prize... Ok, ok, it was time to move on! Dr Barsky has a way with people (and kids in particular) that made it hard to leave. This can be seen in the long waiting periods it takes to book an appointment: you must do it nearly six months in advance. If I had kids though, I would take them to him. It actually makes going to the dentist a treat.

We came here for my 3 yr old daughter. She loves hygienists but when it comes to dentists NO WAY!…read moreOur dentist was unable to work on her cavities so we had a referral sent here. It took a couple months to get our initial appointment. Once in we received our consultation and were set up with dental surgery at their surgical suite. My daughter was at this time, also deathly afraid of hospitals so it was good news that the dental surgery was performed in an office type setting. The front desk staff are great. Very friendly. The lady in the financial department was easy to work with. Set up a payment plan that worked for us. Day of surgery went well. Very nice surgical suite. Great waiting room. The toys made my daughter's anxiety lessen. She was able to play her stress and worry away. Once back into the surgery area the nurse and Dr Barsky were so nice and calming. They let my daughter know what they were going to do (well how they help her fall asleep that is). She was so relaxed in this setting. After surgery we again received wonderful care. They woke her up with a Freezie which is all she remembers. I highly recommend this dental office!!!! Especially if you have an anxious child.

I don't normally write these reviews; however, I felt compelled to do it for Langdon Crossing…read moreDental. I've had many dentists over the years in Calgary (I was born and raised here). My Wife highly recommended this practice after her visits. I found that not only did Dr. Natalia Selvanovskiy did a great job with my broken tooth, cleaning up a cavity and proceeding with a filling, but also kept me informed all the way through the process. She thoroughly explained what she was doing and was very transparent about the whole process, her practical recommendations for future maintenance and treatment if necessary. They did not push for the more expensive treatment as many other dentists would likely do, which I really appreciated, as I feel that any practice that does excellent work, does not need to push anything expensive on their patients. I found them very knowledgeable, articulate, and thorough every step of the way. I truly believe that for any problem a person may have, you need to be involved in what's going on and all options going forward. I really liked the fact that they put all of my scans directly in front of me on their screen. They showed me everything in great detail - it was a completely new experience for me. They were not rushed at all like many dentists I've had previously, trying to get through as many patients as possible. I truly had the sense of someone taking great care of my issues, with a very empathetic attitude. They ensured I was not uncomfortable with any part of the process. The ceiling screen was a very nice touch as well. I had no worries at all, and they seemed to intuitively knew when perhaps I needed to swallow or have some water sucked from the area. I could tell Dr. Natalia was very gentle, yet also very thorough. The right balance for a positive dental experience. The gentleman who assisted was also very pleasant. I think they make an exceptional team, and I would highly recommend them to anyone afraid of dentists or looking for a truly comfortable experience. They were absolutely worth the drive to Langdon considering my experience.
