It takes ALOT to fully amaze Me and nothing ever really does these days but with that being said I'm somewhat amazed at how each Shop Rite Liquor Store within a 20 mile radius has it's own inventory of all very different varieties to choose from. This store here in Chester is a fine example of that with their one of a kind inventory of spirits and some of which that I've literally never even seen before anywhere else. Great Beer selection too plus a room that's dedicated solely to a stellar inventory of nothing but Wine.   Now this place is completely detached from the Shop Rite of Chester, in fact it's located on the other side across Rt, 206. I read reviews and agree with all comments from five stars to one star viewers. I live in Chester for over twenty years and shop here all the time. It satisfied my needs with only exception of sake which I purchase from a Japanese store. I think the culture of the store is not to get friendly with customers or at least with some customers. But who cares. The reason I am buying here is it's price is good and it's local. They will help you whenever you need help, otherwise they stare at you! Haha! read more

Bottle came quickly and packed very well. However, I purchased a limited edition alcohol as a gift and the presentation box came broken and taped up to fix it. For a bottle that costs a few hundred and mostly for presentation I'd expect a little more cafe in its display or at least a forewarning. It's a bit upsetting but the bottle itself came intact so I can't say much else. read more

Staff is at best totally disinterested and at worst rude. I used to go there regularly but I'm just gonna go to Sandy's up 206 from now on. I was looking at beer in the cooler when a staff member walks in front of me rather than going behind me and doesn't say, "Excuse me". Whatever, not a big deal. I get rung up by the same employee and I forgot that I needed to put one item of my order (5 items total) on a different card. I ask her to please take the one item off my order. She sighs and tells her coworker in an annoyed tone that she needs a void. He comes over and fixes it. She rings me up and then I tell her I need to buy the one bottle on a different card. She sighs again and just in general acts totally miserable. Like I said, just go up the street to Sandy's. read more

The funny thing about liquor stores--you feel a little sheepish about going to one but you probably stop by your local one at least once every couple of weeks. This is one liquor store that I'm proud to support as a customer. We are lucky to have this gem of a store here in Chester. They carry an impressive selection of Boulevard beers including the Christopher Elbow Chocolate Ale collaboration, and if they don't have what you are free to ask. This evening, I was pleasantly surprised to find a Goose Island Sour Sisters selection! Ownership is especially pleasant and the staff is super-helpful. read more

Having grown up getting our family groceries at the local Shop Rite, I was astounded that there was a Shop Rite liquor store. I can only assume that, since I grew up in the Empire State, Shop Rites in NJ just must be more fun. A few things 1) it's huge! They have everything from expensive single malt whisky to "Trump Wine" (really) 2) prices are good 3) wait, Shop Rite sells booze???? So, in conclusion, this is a good place to purchase your wines and spirits. read more

They have a very wide selection of alcohol, all at different price points! I have noticed they have started selling more craft beer, and have a very large selection. There is a circular, make sure to check for sales on high ticket items, as they do run them, especially around the holidays. They are very helpful when you have a question about what wines are good to pair with certain foods, and which wines cook well, and the different price points. The prices are clearly marked, and they have displays towards the front, with their featured wines. There is a very small refrigerated case in the front for sparkling and white wines, and their cold beer selection isn't that extensive. They share a parking lot with Dunkin Donuts and a dry cleaner, so at certain times of the day it can be quite crowded. There are spots on the sides, if need be. read more

They carried the tequila i wanted to get for my husbands birthday, even with the 17 dollar shipping ( i wish was lower) i can't complain. They have really great prices on the items I was looking for. I placed my order on Sunday afternoon and paid for regular fedex shipping. It was just delivered to my door at 11:15 am on tuesday. Tequila was packaged really well and wrapped in bubble wrap. I've never experienced racial profiling the way I did today 01/02/2021 when my wife and I went to Shop Rite Wines store in the Chester, NJ. The minute we walked in the store, the manager, an old, pudgy man moved from the register closer to the exit to the front register that was closed. He planted himself there, his gaze fixed on us as he followed our every foot step and movement around the store with his eyes. His posture and facial expression made us very uncomfortable because it was evident that we were treated with apprehension. There were several other customers shopping in the store who did not look like us. Why would this manager keep his gaze fixed on the only two black people in Shop Rite Wines? We felt that we looked suspicious as though we had come in to steal something. To think that we had driven for close to 50 minutes to this store to find one of our favorite wines, (Chateau Barreyres, which we got a case of, at $317.00) only to be treated with suspicion??? We had actually driven that far to restock our wine cellar, but quickly changed our minds after such undignified customer service. It is a shame that a well-stocked business would keep such a looser as manager. That was our first and definitely last trip to Shop Rite Wines of Chester, NJ. read more

I went to Shop-Rite Wines & Spirits in Chester NJ and purchased 6 bottles of wine, a bottle of Rum, a bottle of Scotch and a bottle of Freixenet Cava. The Freixenet was in a bin with marked $9.99. When the bottle rang up as $10.99, I mentioned that the bin was marked $9.99. A short pudgy man with graying hair (the manager???) said the register price was wrong and it should be $11.99. So, not only was the bin price wrong, but the register price was also wrong. Since I'm a regular customer, I asked the pudgy guy what could he do for me. His reply... "I can find you a cheaper bottle of wine". Most reputable stores would eat their double mistake charge the customer the lower price. Final result... after 20+ years, I will never shop at Chester Shop-Rite Wines & Spirits again as they have no concept of customer service. If I want to buy from Shop-Rite Wines & Spirits I will go to the one in Succasunna (next door to the Home Depot where I shop) or the one in Wharton (across the street from the Costco where I shop). If you like shopping at places which have good customer service, stay away from the Chester Shop-Rite WInes & Spirits. read more

I called to order a bottle of Sotol, spoke to Larry who told me they had one bottle; I wanted to order over the phone, he said no, got to order online. I put my order in online and call back to make sure they put the bottle aside. Larry tells me he sold the bottle and tries to sell me something else. Thanks, Larry, for nothing. Unbelievable. I was the only customer in the store and standing at the register, waiting to pay with my credit card. The heavy woman behind the counter was on the phone the entire time disputing a personal issue about a vacation property. I stood there for at least 10 minutes while she ignored me. Then she finally took my card and I told her credit but she entered it as debit, all while she is still on the phone. I told her she should put the person on the phone on hold and take care of her customer instead and then she threw me out! My wife has always used this store for all of our wine and liquor, but after this experience, neither of us will go in there again. They just lost about $1500 a year from us. It pays to be be nice to your customers fat lady!!! I went down the street to the other liquor store in town and the cashier was very pleasant and the grey goose was cheaper. read more
