A friend gave me a free pass for Chesapeake Hot Yoga, so I went and tried it out. It's a very nice facility--probably the largest hot yoga room in the area. Space is a much appreciated luxury when you are sweating profusely and doing a lot of bending over. I'm just saying. The owner taught the class I took and it was lovely. I would go back except it's a bit of a hike from my house. They do teacher training, one of the only places around here that does (for hot yoga). And they offer massage. If you live in Chesapeake, definitely check it out. Hot yoga will change your life.

First hot yoga post pic. Omg!! Feel great!!

Me and my friend came across this place in a Groupon. It is small but the studio is fairly great size. I had no idea what hot yoga was but my goodness! When I entered the studio I thought I was entering the gates of Hell! I immediately regretted my decision to go. The class runs about 1 hour 15 minutes. The instructor was relaxing and helped with poses my friend was not familiar with. By the end, I felt renewed and fresh. I didn't think I would like this but I have to say, it's amazing. The staff is friendly. They have a bathroom for changing. There are small cubbies to place your bag, shoes, and belongings. Can't wait to go again.

They are so sweet! Hand written post cards are a nice touch and not something you get too often any more!

Zenya Yoga, truly stands out as a remarkable sanctuary for anyone passionate about yoga, regardless of their experience level or preferred style. What sets this studio apart is its genuine commitment to offering a comprehensive range of yoga practices from traditional to kundalini, you name it they have it, making it a rare gem where every yoga loving being can find their path or peace. From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted by a calming and beautifully designed space that immediately puts you at ease. The atmosphere is one of serene welcome, clean, extremely spacious, and filled with natural light, they even have massage rooms, a kitchen, and so much more, creating an ideal environment for introspection and movement. All props - mats, blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets - are readily available, clean, and in excellent condition, showing the studio's dedication to student comfort. The changing rooms and restrooms are also impeccably maintained, adding to the overall positive experience. One of Zenya Yoga studio's strength, lies in its incredibly diverse class schedule and exceptionally skilled instructors. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to build foundational strength in Hatha, an experienced practitioner craving the dynamic flow of Vinyasa, or seeking the deep release of Yin or Restorative yoga, this studio has it all. They also offer specialized classes such as invigorating as Twerkology, with Courtney Bolton, where you can dance and gain fitness through Hip-Hop choreography and cardio conditioning. Each instructor I've encountered here is not just highly knowledgeable and experienced, but also deeply encouraging and attentive. They provide clear, precise instructions, offer insightful adjustments, and create a supportive environment where you feel empowered to explore your practice safely and confidently. It's clear that the teaching team is passionate about sharing the benefits of yoga in all its forms. The class sizes feel just right - large enough for a vibrant energy, yet small enough that instructors can still provide individual attention. The community at Zenya Studio is wonderfully inclusive and welcoming. There's a palpable sense of camaraderie and respect among students, fostering an environment where everyone feels comfortable and encouraged. As a new comer to the major yoga practices, aside from my introduction to yoga, due to a military sustained injury, I immediately felt a part of something special, never intimidated but welcomed and comforted by everyone with smiles and great conversations.

I'm not one to run (unless someone or something is chasing me) or try to be competitive in one of those crazy boot camp gyms. I wanted to build my core strength and improve my alignment without feeling defeated and deflated by trying to flip truck tires. I have seen too many of my friends get totally burned out at the "color theory" places. Gyms intimidate me and I just won't stick to going. Wasting money on monthly gym memberships has been my life long history. I feel like Club Pilates might just be the one workout place that I can continue safely, even enjoying it into my golden years. I'm 6 months in and still going strong and feeling the results. Majority of members are women, but I have seen more men joining lately and for good reasons. I'm hoping my husband will sign up for twice weekly class to start with. Having prior shoulder surgery and complaining of stiff lower back makes him perfect candidate to start on movement and mobility with Pilates. Teachers offer personalized private assessment appointments free of charge. The classes are small (max 12) and these feel like semi private with 3-4 students at times. Start at Flow 1.0 (beginner level) and try Restore ("Pilates self massage") or Center & Balance (my favorite). If you never tried Pilates, try it at this club. It might just change your life.

I've had two knee replacements since joining and if it weren't for this place, I don't think my recovery would have been as successful as it has been. If you are familiar with this part of Norfolk, you probably know that parking in this side of town can sometimes be challenge. There are about 4 parking spaces in front of the building or you can park across from it on the street. Booking was very simple and straight forward. Be prepared to pay for the service in it's entirety when booking. If you are booking as a couple, your guest will need to fill out the intake form in person because the online booking only allowed me to fill out one. Loved decor here. The Seafoam green gives it a nice touch and it matches their website. Super clean in here too. I had to use the restroom before we entered the sauna and I was very pleased with how neat and tidy it was We were directed to our room for the infared sauna. There are plenty of towels and robes for guests. I loved the sauna, it was really nice and relaxing for the both of us. The only thing that I didn't like was the little draft at the bottom of the door. This prevented the temperature from going up, but other than that, I felt amazing after. We will definitely be back.

I received the Standard Plus facial from Kailey back on July 3. It. was. everything. Kailey knows her stuff. Once I had changed and Kailey adjusted my headband I received a brief aromatherapy treatment. I've gotten plenty of facials before but this was the first time any aesthetician has ever done that. She placed the oil on her wrists and had me breathe deeply in and out before starting my service. It was the perfect touch because if you're like me, you're probably rushing to your appointments. My facial was amazing. This was my first service with Kailey but it won't be my last. She examined my skin before she began. I loved the fact that she answered all my questions and even gave my suggestions for different services to look into during the winter months. Extractions are always a love-hate experience for me but all of the congestion from my face was removed and my skin was so soft when I left. During the facial Kailey and I chatted about other treatments that would be great for my skin, how often I should be receiving facials, and my at-home routine. I'd also like to add that Kailey is a product wiz! When we were quarantined she helped me revamp my entire skin routine. I think we all dealt with maskne but I also believe my diet and stress caused my skin to go into panic or something. Kailey and I texted and talked over the phone about my skin and its needs. My whole regimen got a much-needed facelift and my skin is doing so much better. Anytime she recommends something for me (and no she doesn't sell products so no gimmicks there) I get it! Since then I have had minimal (and I mean minimal) breakouts and the texture of my skin has improved drastically. We're currently working on tone and hyperpigmentation and I'm excited to see those results. I'll be returning for another facial with Kailey at Get Well Soon the next time I'm back home. Check her out, your skin will thank you!

At some other studios, I've noticed that the teachers kind of rush through the classes, but the instructors here take their time, walking around the class and helping students get into alignment safely. Meaghan and Gil, the owners, are the most lovely people! They make sure to remember your name and keep up with you. They are easily some of the best instructors I've ever practiced under. As for the studio itself, it has 2 rooms in which to practice. The parking lot is a bit small, but it's to be expected due to the urban setting. They do have lots where overflow parking can go though. The only thing that makes me sad is that they don't offer that many classes, but they will be adding some soon due to the recent graduating instructors. I'm so excited!!!

If you've thought about completing a YTT program--whether to teach or to deepen your own practice--I highly recommend you check it out, talk to Meaghan and Gil, and see if it's a fit. The program prepares students to not only be knowledgeable, confident yoga instructors, but to be knowledgeable, confident human beings. Students are taught the fundamentals of teaching a yoga class, yes, but are also lead on a journey toward inner peace and clarity. This clarity allows students to more fully delve into their own yoga practice and to find the joy in their practice, both on the mat and in their daily life. It is through this grounding, clearer sense of self that students are then able to share the potential of yoga by guiding other students on their own journeys.
