I have never in my life given a review of any type to a business before. However I could not let this go by without commenting. I have a Neighbor who is a Senior a Dis Abled-Veteran and a Life Time Resident of this area. About 3 months ago he lost his wife. He was a little strapped for money and I wish I would have known. This could all have been avoided. He won an AR-15 in a raffle at his VFW POST in Hiawassee GA. He took it down to Cherokee Guns in Murphy and pawned it for $200. He went back to claim it and paid the $200 back with interest. Well the owner whos name is Doc took is money but refused to give him back his Gun. Doc told him he needed to pass a Back Ground before he could return it. Well he was never told this at the time he pawned it and it wasn't even on the agreement paper he signed and was given. Well my Neighbor is a Dis-Abled Vet and could not Pass the Back Ground. Doc told him find someone that could pass it and he would give it to that person. Well I agreed to do so and then pay my Neighbor $500 for the Gun. Well I went down to the store with him and Doc was out of town for the day after telling him he would be there. Well I filled out the paper work and passed the Back Ground. Doc told him over the phone at the store in front of the help to come in Tomorrow Morning and he I can have the Gun. That Morning we called the store before going and Doc said he changed his mind and was not going to return the Gun. I informed Doc over the phone of my Neighbors situation about needing money and his wife's death. He basically said I don't care and for now that's his stance maybe down the road he will change his mind. Too keep from dragging this out any longer. My Neighbor talk to an Attorney and Local Law Enforcement in both Cherokee and Clay Counties. After some of them contacted Doc he agreed finally to Return the Gun to my Neighbors Son. My Neighbor wanted to wait until he got the Gun back and then asked me to write this review for him. All I can say is I have Purchased Ammo and other Products from Cherokee Guns in the Past. However if this is how he treats and puts Seniors and Dis-Abled Vets and Life Long Residents thru this type of undo Stress I will never step Foot in that Business again. I am warning everyone ahead of time be careful when dealing with this Business. read more

We have a vacation home near this place, and now that we're spending more time there we started looking for a gun shop. We asked around and this place was mentioned as a "gotta go there" shop, so we started with Yelp and Google Reviews. And ended right there. This shop is a little too political for our tastes, including the owner replying to reviews on his shop with hateful political jabs and childish "LOLs" rather than neutral disregard with a welcoming attitude. I'm certain to get a juvenile response about Biden and "libtards" and "trump4ever" or other such nonsense, just as have the others. Read this shop owner's review responses in their own words, here and on Google. Their reply to me doesn't matter - we're moving on and Cherokee Guns won't miss us. We're just posting a review to warn people from "not around here" to not think this is a welcome-to-all shop. I wish them much continued success with their client base! read more

One of the strangest Lgs experiences I have had, and not in a good way. Right off the store feels like the real life equivalent to a neocon 50+ Facebook group. Bunch of "owning the libs" type posters and a cutout of Trump. I am pretty right wing but this boomer jerking is a little much. The guy at the desk looked like a more washed out version of Steven Seagal complete with a gaudy 1911. Gave me the stink eye the entire time I browsed around the guns that were marked up 200%. When I went up to talk with him the first thing he said is "we dont have any 9mm" like ok I didn't ask but fine. I ask him if has any k usa 103s or if he has any ordered from the manufacturer. He goes on to treat me like an idiot as he offers me a Vsak (a glorified pipe bomb) for 1200$. I left in absolute disgust. I've fired various kinds of guns before, but I never felt the need to own a gun of my very own (until recent developments got me worried that someone's next Executive Order declares it forbidden for ordinary U.S. Citizens to buy guns). The folks at Cherokee Guns answered all my questions, helped me fill out the necessary background-check information, and, after five days passed and nothing negative came back on my background-check, they handed me the revolver that I had paid for on my visit to their shop. I was somewhat anxious beforehand about buying a gun, but the folks at Cherokee Guns put me at ease and made gun purchasing seem as ordinary and easy as shopping for apples or eggs at a grocery store. read more

Doc and the guys are very helpful. I know guns. Ive been in dozens of gun stores across the state and country. Ive bought a lot of guns online. But Doc and his guys have the best attitude and sales ethics i have ever experienced in a gunstore. Immediate service when u are next in line. Order anything you want. Specials and discounts at times. Imhave bought three pistols and several boxes of ammo at Cherokee, and a couple of 1911 mags and holsters. Not a complaint. Dont listen to the 1 star ratings, those are just out of towner libtards who have never been here, trolling because Doc and the store get national attention for their funny political billboards on Foxnews sometimes. read more

Terrible staff, terrible service. I created a Yelp account just to trash this company. Whoever "Doc" is, he's a terrible example of a store owner, and deserves to go out of business. Not to mention that by his own admission, he's willing to report his customers to the ATF even if they've broken no laws, or done anything illegal. I have purchased multiple hand guns from Doc at Cherokee Guns in the last two years. All have been excellent purchases at a reasonable price. Excellent customer service by a knowledgeable staff. Gun smiths have done quality work for me. Highly recommend them. read more
