The bar top overhang was to be supported by 2 steel bars that the carpenter fabricated. they were sitting nearby, the installers put them in, but did not install the screws that were laying right there, so the granite barely touched the 2 bars, making them useless. They should have called in. In the kitchen, there was an upper cabinet that was to obviously rest upon the countertop, it was left up 1/16 so the granite could be slid in. Well, a mistake here with the builder, the carpenter assumed 3 CM for the granite, and it was 2.5 CM, approx, leaving a large gap under the upper cabinet. They should have called in. Too bad if they had to come back after we shimmed up the cabinets so it would fit nicely! Then, there was a large chip in the corner, yes a difficult corner, but it was a hole, something less than 1/2 inch each way, and they filled it in with what? White caulk on black granite! They had black seam material, but oh well, lets just finish.....A few weeks after move-in we called in for some rough spots on the granite, they sent out 2 guys who were very professional, and had what they needed to make those improvements. They were surprised to see the previously listed workmanship issues, took pictures, and said someone would be calling. No one called. They also charge $150 EXTRA to install a laundry sink not purchased from them??????

Our purpose today was to look at some of their products and do some comparing to see exactly what we needed for a future project we would be doing. Our family has been using the supplies that are sold here for sometime. We have purchased landscaping rock, aka chop, along with mulch, flagstone and crushed rock with screenings. We have done many home-improvement projects over the years and we always enjoy the fabulous customer service that we get each time we visit Minick materials. In fact today, the staff was so sweet and kind as to give each of my children a gift from under their Christmas tree! My youngest daughter felt that gesture was extremely thoughtful and all were so grateful. The pros: Excellent products, top rate customer service, extremely professional employees, highly knowledgeable staff, prices are very reasonable and finally they make obtaining what you need hassle free. They do offer delivery but we have always used our trailer to pick up our purchase. During the delivery from manufacture to the Normal location several of the boards were damaged by the forklifts. I reported the damage to the yard supervisor. Since the damage occured in the middle of the pallet their suggestion was to return the boards as I gained access. I kept this location updated on the matter while at the job sight with details on the damage reveiled. The front desk supervisor informed me a credit would be offered. The credit details were 50% from manufacture and 50% from Forest Building Materials as per the supervisor. I've reached out numerous times via email, phone calls and physical stops at the location. Each time I was informed that since I paid cash for the order and not a credit card the refund process was difficult. I've given up and I have found a new building materials distributor.

They had a huge showroom which you can see the surface in large slabs not tiny samples. Then, they took us to the back room of slabs, then the back yard of slabs. And if we wanted to we could have them bring up a slab from the yard behind the back outdoor yard. HUGE selection!!! Yesenia explained pros and cons of both engineered vs natural, pricing levels, why prices are different etc. She also showed how to look at surfaces at different lighting.
