I cannot recommend this school enough. There is just not enough praise given for the accommodations and considerate teachers and the staff at Parkside Elementary. My son attended Parkside for 4th grade, his teacher was incredible and worked alongside him with his extra needs, she encouraged him to challenge the limits and expectations that came from his special needs. Mrs Holland made sure that my son did not feel out of place or like he didn't belong even while respectfully and willingly accommodating his 504. The open communication from his teacher was frequent, transparent and comforting. The process of getting my sons 504 in place was made so much easier with the teamwork of all of the staff, making sure he had everything he needed while recognizing where he should be challenged along with places he may struggle, They made sure that every teacher/staff member that worked with him knew of these accommodations, so it was never a struggle or something that I had to continually fight for. Anyways - if you don't want to read the whole review, just know - **The school is incredible. It is very clean. The staff is very accommodating with any kind of special needs. My son started there when the school first opened. I love her enthusiasm, structure, and play-based ideas. She also does really fun science experiments throughout the year. My wife stood up to the Principal and was publically mocked for doing so. I have talked to the Archdiocese of Portland regarding this. Don't know if anything will be done. One can afford a full-time tutor for the cost of this school and have your child academically challenged. Next year there is a different Principal. Hopefully that one is better.

IITR was the BEST school I could've chosen to prepare to get my CDL license! The instructors were…read moreextremely patient and their knowledge base was top notch. Both instructors had 30 and 40 years of experience each as truck drivers so they were able to not only teach us what we needed to know to pass the test, they were also able to impart massive amounts of wisdom about the trucking industry that you could only get from experience. IITR's curriculums format was exceptionally ingenious. I say that because when I first started the class I thought there was no way I was going to feel ready and prepared in just four weeks but going through the way they have laid out their curriculum everything just comes together naturally. And by the time I went to take my test I felt extremely prepared and confident. One of the main reasons I felt so confident when it was time to take my test was because of the large amount of driving and backing practice time that you get when you go to IITR which from my research you don't get at other truck schools. Overall I would HIGHLY recommend IITR to anyone wanting to get their CDL and get into the trucking industry.

Some classes provide college credit or can be used for various certifications, others are just plain fun. One of the latter is the winter snow ecology course held on Mt. Ashland involving a trek on snow shoes, building a snow cave and looking for the tunnels of voles and other winter-active rodents.. Another fun "class" was the sunset photo hike to the summit of Mr. Elijah starting with a walk through wild flowers and pitcher plants and the drive partly up the mountain then a walk through forest, meadow, past an alpine lake and ending with a magnificent view of the Siskiyou Mountains. Did we see the ocean on the far horizon? Some said yes, some said no. Several classes are family oriented and there are also special ones for school groups and for teachers. For those who need accommodations at Sema, there are yerts and a camping area, or a few miles away, some motels.
