The first time I took the course our instructor couldn't answer any questions and told us we didn't need to read the manual but to study the exam prep book, 94% of the class failed. I bid on level-one improv classes at a charity gala and was eager to sign up and get started. I…read morewas also VERY nervous about it. Upon meeting Jill, our instructor and the co-owner/founder, I calmed down quite a bit. I think I fully came out of my shell mid-way through the semester, and then I liked it so much, I signed up for level two. I had so much fun! I haven't flexed these muscles since drama class in high school (no way am I telling you how long that's been - but it's been a LONG time). Jill creates a safe space and lets you explore in your own way. She gives prompts, clarifies, and gives excellent feedback; it truly is a fun time. I enjoyed getting to know my classmates; we all come from different backgrounds, but bonded really nicely. I have also popped in for Leela's drop-in sessions on Thursdays. That is an entirely different experience, but also very fun. They also do a free first Friday event each month, so if you are curious, I recommend signing up for that first. Raleigh is lucky to have such a great space with such wonderful people, and I'm lucky to have found them. :)

I made the trek from Durham in rush our traffic bc I was curious to see how this class would be structured as some one who took a level and and level 2 class like 4 years ago in Durham. I was surprised by the class size but overall think that it worked out pretty well with the activities that were planned. The instructor and owner were both great! It's a decent space overall too! Thank you for the laughs, I am actually considering maybe signing up once a month to break up the normal routine and bring more laughter into my life!

This morning starting strangely the car wouldn't start, GPS took us to the wrong location then when we finally got there (somehow only 7min behind) it was to more confusion. Somehow our appointment for two, had turned in to an appointment for one, (a student eagerly stepped up to take me.) Oh and also, it was pedicure day! (I have never been so happy to have shaved my lags this morning!) After making sure they would still take the manicure coupon (we would just have to pay the $5 difference). The student helping me was very nice and kept making sure I was comfortable. When it was time to pay, they waived the extra $10 and we left happy. Will definitely go back. (I still need a manicure after all!)

I scheduled and they didn't confirm so I called and there were no students available, but she booked me for the next day at 10:30 am. She was pleasant and helpful but if the scheduling system is not effective can it because if I didn't call, i wouldn't have known that no students were available. I arrived at 10:30 and I got a brand spanking new student. I was her first. She did my pedicure as best as she could but the instructor helped a lot which I was very grateful for. Then on to the manicure by another newbie. She did good. Here's my biggest complaint - they took FOREVER! I left at 2:15 pm! That's right 10:30 a - 2:15p! No acrylics or add on. Just a regular pedicure and a gel manicure. It ruined my whole day because I had something else planned that I no longer had the energy to go to. Everyone was super nice and friendly and the space is crowded but clean. Another thing that was a little concerned about was the foot bath. They don't change out the water so your feet are sitting in there when it's not being worked on, even after they've cleaned your feet. That was kind of yucky to me. Overall I got my nails done cheaper. I guess you get what you pay for. Not sure if I'll return simply because of the amount of time it takes out of my day. But the 2 students did their best.

Contained within one of the many buildings on NC State's Centennial Campus is a pretty amazing…read moreWildlife Center. With a self-guided tour, the Center takes you through North Carolina's wildlife and conservation efforts. It begins with a large satellite map of NC to give an overview of the vegetation or river and streams. From there, the exhibit map leads to the Wildlife section with its interactive push button displays for matching the animal with paw prints or bones. The Piedmont Portraits section is probably my favorite. There are three floor-to-ceiling displays of the Piedmont habitats with each display flanked by pictures of animals found in that area. As you push the button, a picture of an animal lights up and you hear the sound of that animal. Each panel takes you through a day's journey with simulated lighting and the animals most likely to be active at that time of day. Sometimes, sounds from the other displays play simultaneously - usually the bullfrog and toads -- as a reminder that some animals are everywhere. There was no talking, just the nature sounds. The Wetlands Section has a touch screen map for picking a county, an amphibian or reptile and then finding what is prevalent in that county. The Wetlands Overlook is my next favorite section. There are two cameras trained on bird feeders outside the windows near the man-made wetland area. Using the joystick, you can zoom in or move the cameras to watch the birds or just explore. There's an auditorium playing a short video overview of the Piedmont habitats. It wasn't operating the day I visited, but with everything else here to see, I wouldn't have had time. I'll go back to see it, but will probably call ahead to make sure its showing. It may only be available on weekends. The self-guided tour also covers the classroom labs on the lower level, with its groundhog, grasshopper and bullfrog labs, but I didn't visit them, either. The guide indicates at least one of them, the grasshopper lab, has a collection of "skins, skulls" and other things that kids may find fun. I'm not fond of bugs or insects or some amphibians, even dead ones (just ask my college zoology professor), so I'll probably continue to skip it. It's a small center, taking only about a third of the first floor, and part of the ground floor, but they've packed a lot into it. It's free, but donations are welcome, and it's a fun way to spend an hour or so.
