I went to buy a car recently and after trawling in and out of many showrooms I found the perfect car on the forecourt of this garage. Chris was there to greet me, he was a bag knowledge and knew the answer to every question I had. He took me through the finance agreement and made the purchase of my new Astra easy peasy. Since then the after care service has been A class. I was missing the service handbook so I spoke to Chris and within 48 hours it was delivered to me in person. This family run business has really restored my faith in second hand car salesmen. This company has been running for over 25 years and after meeting the Waite men I now know why. If only there was a brother lurking in the closet somewhere to make an honest woman out of me.

My father used to be in the car trade so buying a car has always been a terrible, terrible task due to his constant pushiness and checking this and checking that! Mine and Boris's story really is a beautiful love affair. I seen him, he winked at me, i went home, dragged dearest Daddy to the forecourt, he prodded and questioned him and then he agreed to let his little girl drive off in the sunset with the roof down and music blasting. The boys here are brilliant! in fact, i thoroughly enjoyed myself whilst my Dad shook and got his cheque book out. They popped my CD payer in for me free of charge and gave me a lovely tax disc holder which made me happy. This is a family run business and the choice of cars, finance and refreshments are brilliant. The garage is huge so after care service is top notch. Sadly, mine and Boris relationship is on the rocks i've had him 5 years now and have seriously neglected the poor dab. But you know how it goes?

I'm 22 and although I've owned cars in the past, I've never had to make a decision on the purchase of one completely by myself - prime meat for the wheeler-dealers of the car world. I looked at several used car dealerships, before driving past this one with a friend - and went in the next day. The first thing that set this place apart was that when Justin (one of the owners) came over and asked if we wanted some help, he actually understood 'I'm just browsing'! He left me to it, and said if I had any questions to give him a shout. I found two Clio's and wanted to know the differences between them; he was open and honest and understood that I wanted to go away and think about it, etc. I went back a few days later and despite the fact that a) the car was a good price already and b) he ended up making very little money on the car, as I had a tight budget he was flexible with the price. Don't presume they are easily beaten down though as this would be offensive to them because they KNOW their cars, and are always doing repairs on the cars they get in themselves and they buy the cars - they are so knowledgable and yet won't fob you off if you don't have a clue about cars - genuinely lovely people. Unfortunately Mr Car aren't well advertised - the reason for this being the guys were so busy they found it hard to keep a website updated - although they now seem to have one which is great - www.mrcar-bristol.co.uk - however just rock along and look at what they have as the website doesn't do them justice - they have around 20 cars at one time but the website only shows 3 or 4. Five months on and my little Clio is brilliant - the rear wiper broke yesterday and my first thought was to call Justin and ask for his recommendation for a local garage - he also let me know the rough cost and even checked to see if he could fix it for me. Hence my review today as I suddenly realised how helpful they are and I think people should know that genuine people exist out there, because there are so many dealers who will screw you over happily. As I said right at the beginning, I would whole-heartedly recommend these guys to anyone. They're BRILLIANT.

This particular lot is a wheeler dealer with a range of second hand cars on offer. The pricing is generally overpriced as you would expect. If I wanted to get a second hand car I don't think I would get it from this place and would rather find a dealer that was also selling new cars, this would give me confidence that the cars warranty actually applied. The lot is pretty much open to the elements so it would be hard to find a car that hadn't been standing still for a while unless this place has a high churn rate for second hand vehicles.

I have had nothing but trouble over the last 6 months, the car had to go back for repairs on 4 occasions for the same reoccurring fault. On the 5th time the fault reoccurred i went to an independant mechanic who diagnosed that the problem had now caused the head gasket to go. John Loyn was informed of this by the independant mechanic. John Loyn has now become rude, aggressive and abusive to me as I am taking action to return the vehicle under the guidance of Trading Standards. His wife has even rang me and shouted abuse at me. ***HONESTLY, STAY AWAY FROM JOHN LOYN CAR SALES***they are dishonest, unreliable and rude.

A visit to the showroom is always something to look forward to! You see, they have a great complimentary coffee machine, where you can self-serve to your hearts content. This is certainly the most impressive service they offer, as far as i am concerned... but then again, I'm a female driver of a silly little Suzuki car that I inherited off my mother that is variously referred to as the Pope Mobile by my friends, or as the silly little old-lady car by myself... so as far as motor services go, I never get too excited about the rest... Gone are the days where i get to cruise round in a big fat Audi company car, as is my excitement about motoring in general! Somewhat unsurprising considering the circumstanes, I'm sure you'll agree!?! They also sell spare parts to the vehicularly challenged individuals like myself. I have just called them to get the colour code for my silly little car, as i need to get my bumper re-sprayed, owing to a minor fracas with a curb over the weekend. I have already established that Bart Motors out at Llandow Industrial Estate have a second hand bumper and wheel, and so all I now need to figure out is whcih colour the bumper needs painting, and the job 'ul be a gooden! Jenkins, have as always, come through for me... in no time at all they have supplied me with the information I needed. They are brilliant at ordering in parts quickly as well, and I have no reservations in recommending them to equally ill-fated motorists like myself!

Thankfully, visiting (and buying from) Hewson Motors wasn't like that. The two salesmen are also the owners, so they really seem to care about the quality of their stock and about listening to the customer's needs. The saleman I dealt with (John) was friendly, helpful, told corny old jokes that he somehow made funny and didn't whack me with the hard-sell once my guard was down. Prices seem to be very competitive too: I live in Devon and the Freelander I bought from them was the cheapest (and nicest looking from the pics on their site) I could find on the net within reasonable travelling distance. Fortunately, everything about it was exactly as they said it would be and more than justified the trip from Devon to Cardiff.

The dissapointing thing was the product a BMW 318 2003 model 92,000 miles on the clock , At first everything seemed fine it passed its MOT just before the purchase. Great! First the radiator needed replacing about a week after purchase in all fairness Justin got this sorted asap and gave me a courtesy car at no cost to myself then I broke down and the xpansion tank had completley split years of damage had caused this. The RAC fitted a new tank albeit not properly and again Justin got this sorted for me. for the last 3 to 4 weeks the coolant warning light has constantly been on and I just cannot be bothered to call Hewson motors again! Like I say it is all well and good sorting the problem and providing good customer service but when you purchase a car you want realiability and faith that it will work properly so I am sorry but I would not reccomend this company to purchase a car. Customer service 8/10 product 2/10. I have since sold it and purchased a brand new vehicle.
