A welcoming atmosphere and very good food awaits you, prepared by an authentic Greek chef/owner, who has evidently lavished love on this eatery, which only very recently opened its doors (currently not yet open for lunch, but will be ASAP). Also though it has a great-looking bar, it doesn't yet have a permit to serve alcohol - so BYOB and save a few bucks on your bill while it lasts! Portions are generous, and very reasonably priced (I ordered a starter, main course and dessert, and had plenty of delicious food to take home, too; total with tip only $60!). I ordered the Spanikopita for starters (a little salty, but otherwise excellent), the fish gyro for the main course (difficult to eat in a restaurant setting - I noticed the customers seated at the next table also struggling a little bit because when you bite into it, the filling falls out - but perfect for a take-out order), and an absolutely made-to-perfection dessert of classic Baklava (big enough to serve two) amply drizzled with local honey augmented with George's 'special secret spices', served on a beautiful ceramic plate; simply delicious! Service is leisurely, but being so new, this team of staff is still figuring out exactly how to make things function like the well-oiled machine the owner surely wants! So if you need 'fast', go for the take-out option for now - otherwise, kick back Kaua'i-style and take your time over a bottle of BYOB beer or wine. Reasons I couldn't rate it all-the-way 5 stars is as follows: - the bread; it was just rolls with butter, not pita, with olive oil and balsamic vinegar dip, which is what I expect in a Mediterranean restaurant, - the tables don't have table-cloths, which instantly downgrades the experience from 'restaurant' to 'eatery', - the cloth napkins are made of polyester fabric, so they are not absorbent, and feel cheap. Otherwise no expense seems to have been spared on creating 'Zorba's' and the whole place is very color-co-ordinated, pleasant, and inviting. read more

Ordered out for my first try just live down the street. I ordered off of yelp menu. When I ordered the price was $21 for Lamb Gyro. When I picked up it was $27. They charged me a service fee and a takeout fee. I thought I was in Vegas. The Gyros was super good and plenty of it. I just wish the owner would stepped in to explain the mix up on yelp vs their menu, instead he left his employee making excuses for the menu not being updated. Just left a bad taste in my mouth. This was my first food truck on Kauai and I am sold on the idea. Great food, fast, outdoors on your way through Kapaa. And George really made it a great experience. I wanted lamb, and I wanted veggies. Most people think veggies is for vegetarians, so George usually makes that a veggie dish. If you want meat, you get a salad. But for me he made a special dish of tasty lamb and delicious roasted veggies. He even had some taro root in there, that's how locally inspired he is. Greek food with taro root, only on Kauai! The gyros are superb, but I can't rate this place as highly as I want because their hours are awful. Unless you live or work on the east side of the island, the place might as well not exist. I've been able to catch them open only twice. I make that drive from the west side JUST TO GET A GYRO, and I usually find the place closed. It's not OK. Sorry. I'd probably be there at least two times a week if I could count on them being open, but I can't. I've even found them to be closed when their hours claim they should be open.This isn't the way to run a successful business. So delicious! We had to come back several times because he was closed for a bit, but today on our last day here in Kauai he was open! We had the lamb gyro and the red curry lamb plate (with falafel instead of rice because it wasn't ready yet and mixed veggies) and omg the lamb was so so so tender and so flavorful. I don't even know which I loved more. We ate every single bite on our plates plus the free sample of uli fries (breadfruit) which were also simply fantastic. I totally forgot about the gyro, hello, Greek food truck!! So we both ordered George's Gyro and two orders of the sweet potato fries. That gyro, pretty darn good size. The veggies were nice and fresh. And that lamb was pretty awesome; tender, not chewy. All together, George's Gyro was a great, yummy choice.
