We had the pleasure of Chef Gaby and her team cooking us a FABULOUS dinner in a private home in Galena, Illinois. We rented the house for a Bachelorette Weekend Bash. Being the wine-lovers that we are we decided that hiring a private chef to cook us dinner to enjoy with wine pairings would be a great highlight to our weekend. I discovered Chef Gaby through her website and really loved her concept of farm-to-table and local ingredients. The photos of her food were beautiful and in her first contact with me, she just seemed so darn nice! She was a pleasure to work with from beginning to end. We have a five-course dinner which included an amazing cheese course. For our soup course, Chef Gaby prepared a chilled tomatillo souffle with torched goat chees, that was so rich and delicious it was almost a mousse. We are still raving about it! The main course selection was either a pan seared scallop or honey and mint seasoned leg of lamb. Everyone loved their selections, the ladies that enjoyed the lamb are obsessed with the rhubard butter that was served with the baby root vegetables. The green beans that accompanied the scallops were served with popcorn! So creative and a real compliment to the fresh green beans. In addition to the incredible food, Chef Gaby was so friendly and sweet. She wasn't at all annoyed about us hovering over her watching her cook or the zillion questions we asked about everything. I do a fair amount of entertaining and I have learned that when someone is working with you in your home to put on an event, personality is as important as work product. Chef Gaby was a joy to be around and her and her team added to our event and made it better, not just with the amazing dinner, but their great attitudes. I have had the pleasure of working for and collaborating with Chef Gaby on many occasions in the past three years. She is an amazing leader with a passion and talent for the culinary arts that I have otherwise never come across professionally. So, when she began her Chef Gaby To Go meals I jumped on the chance to support her (really I could just finally afford to have her meals delivered to my house, hehe). Coming home to the beautiful paper satchel with Zaza's yummy biscotti tied in a twine bow at the handle made me melt. I immediately tore in and whipped up a plate with a little of everything. There was a juicy portion of Asado Negro (slow roasted beef with a cocoa sauce) that seriously could not have been any more delicious, a section of the sweet potato and black bean burrito which was so flavorful I savored every single bite, Caramelized brussels sprouts and jasmine rice finished off the plate. Oh yes, there was also a green mango and avocado and cilantro pico de gallo that OMG I don't have the words. What more can I say. Her parties are fabulous, her personal chef service means luxury and healthy eating every day and now the Chef Gaby To Go service offers the possibility for everyone to have her home cooking as often as they want. chef gaby had the best food on the culinary ride the past two years. so when i saw a livingsocial deal for a 2hr private cooking class, i jumped on it. wow! talk about exceeding expectations...after finding out i don't cook, and what i did and did not have in my kitchen, she came up with a custom experience that was delicious, fun, and easy to make. the hours flew by, chopping, telling stories, learning pro tips and techniques. the quality of food was better than any restaurant but it was so simple and quick--and I MADE IT! :) it didn't feel intimidating like learning something daunting. it seemed as if she magically transferred enough of her wealth of knowledge and experience either through a vulcan mind meld or downloading the program into my brain a la the matrix. i came away knowing i could cook and a new friendship! thx gaby! read more

Chef Gaby is amazing! She cooks for our family weekly and she caters to all our taste buds. She is such a pleasure to work with and is always thinking of new and tasty meals. Each Tuesday, she comes with groceries, preps our meals for the week, packages them neatly in the fridge with instructions, and leaves us with a clean kitchen.
