Many of the big kids and teens we work with are doing well academically but still feel frustrated when connecting with peers, reading, writing, or speaking. Our approach is always supportive, evidence-based, and focused on helping children communicate more clearly while they connect with others. We look beneath the surface to identify the underlying skills that need support so the right strategies can take root.

History
Established in 2013.
Cheerful Chatter Speech-Language Services was created to offer families a thoughtful, relationship-centered alternative to one-size-fits-all therapy. Many parents come to us feeling unsure about next steps or frustrated due to lack of progress — wondering whether their child’s challenges are something they’ll “grow out of” or whether support could help.
Over time, we have grown into a practice serving families in Cherry Hill, NJ and throughout South Jersey and Philadelphia, PA who are looking for clear guidance, realistic goals, and therapy that truly fits their child and family. We focus on building communication skills that matter in real life — at home, at school, and with friends — so children can participate more fully and confidently in their everyday worlds.
Meet the Business Owner: Ellen M.
Cheerful Chatter Speech-Language Services is owned and led by Ellen McSpadden, MA, CCC-SLP, CAS, a licensed speech-language pathologist and certified autism specialist with over two decades of experience supporting children and teens with a wide range of needs. Ellen works closely with parents to understand not just how a child is struggling, but how those challenges affect life, learning and relationships.
Parents describe Ellen’s approach as calm, practical, reassuring and effective. She believes therapy should be purposeful and collaborative, with clear explanations and steady progress. Whether working on first words, hard-to-understand speech, apraxia, reading, spelling, social communication, friendships or standing up to bullying, Ellen’s goal is to help children communicate effectively, feel confident being themselves, and connect with others.
She is a certified provider of PEERS® and formally trained in DTTC, PROMPT, and Hanen's "It Takes Two To Talk" parent coaching program.
