My family and I decided to make use of our vacation club (WorldMark) at Coral Baja this year. Flying into Los Cabos on Southwest is very easy! Doesn't feel too much like international travel at all. In any case, in speaking with staff at the resort they suggested visiting this market as opposed to La Comer (right next door) because at Selecto, time share sharks are not allowed to follow you around the store and pressure you into attending their presentations. I decided to try Uber Mexico and go pick up some groceries and sundries for our week in Los Cabos at Selecto.
Upon arrival I was shocked and amazed to find a very clean and organized (FANCY) department store, like a very high end WalMart or Fred Meyer. Much cleaner than stores back home in the US. They have everything; furniture, luggage, drugs, cosmetics, groceries, prepared foods, beer and wine, even available for consumption while shopping, spirits, and pretty much anything else you can think of... they have a full service deli counter as well as a bakery and taqueria where I noticed people ordering meals to eat right there at the tables set up near the food counter.
Overall, this is a very pleasant and enjoyable shopping excursion. I wish we had markets like this back home. Unfortunately, there's no way US business owners could afford to operate an establishment like this. For instance, the baggers work for tips. But it's easy to tip them when you consider the exchange rate (dollars/pesos). If you are staying in San Jose Del Cabo and need food or other items, this is a GREAT option! Adios for now! read more
