I told him I didn't have it on me, and he told me I needed to leave in a not-so-pleasant manner. Excuse me? I understand you have the right to ask me to leave, but he needed to learn some manners and customer service. I did not walk in like an obnoxious loud teenager. Hell, I'm 29, 27 at the time. We left and went elsewhere, even though my husband could have stayed and purchased what we wanted.
By the way, I am Canadian and my husband is a US citizen. I highly doubt the associate at the store would have been able to comprehend an Ontario Driver's license. I really did want to go back and show him, let him look at my foreign ID like he knew what he was looking at.
Regardless, all I expected was for him to be more pleasant about the whole situation. I have been in retail long enough to know how to speak to customers and he did not. He could have said, "I'm sorry but I am going to have to ask you to leave," rather than "you need to leave."
