Woman was beligerent and abrasive. Waited 20 minutes for a cab and I had work at 4, so I instead called an Uber and to avoid confrontation from this woman as I was getting into my Uber.. I had told a white lie saying it wasn't me who called the cab. Which I'm literally 7 months pregnant and she started screaming at me ... feel extremely unsafe that she knows my address. read more

Serious problems with both the company and the driver that came. I will post pictures as proof of their terrible service. The cab had multiple empty open containers of alcohol in the back and front seats by the driver. The side mirror on the cab was literally held up by electrical tape. The driver showed up in 30 minutes after they said they would be there in 15. They would only accept cash. When I informed the dispatcher after my ride of the poor service he took no responsibility and called the driver a contractor and offered no remedy for the terrible experience. read more

My cab came in 30 minutes early, and the driver seemed agitated that he was given the wrong information. He told me to "call when you are ready". I told him I would be ready at the stated time, and he said to just call. A different cab came at the stated time, and I got to the airport on time. The bill came out to 20$ for 3 people from the University of Rochester to ROC. The driver was very nice and friendly. Will book my trip with them again, but the company really needs to make sure that their receptionist is writing down the right time! read more

Awful. If I could give this service no stars I would. My fiance used them this morning and had a HORRIBLE experience. First - they got the pick-up time wrong. I was with him when he called and he clearly said the time multiple times. He gets a call this morning an hour early saying that the cab had arrived. He explained he made the reservation for an hour later, gets some 'tude from the driver but luckily the guy tells him he'll be there at the correct time. Except, he wasn't. He was 10 minutes late. Then, when my fiance arrived at the airport, the driver refused to take his credit card. When my fiance tries to explain that he's never been in a checker cab (he travels every single week), the driver makes him get on the phone with manager. Instead of apologizing for the wrong pick-up time, his driver being late and now delaying him further, the manager tells my fiance "sound's like you need to get your shit together." He eventually agreed to take a credit card over the phone but wouldn't take his business AmEx because of the fee. Totally unprofessional and rude. Horrible service. We will never use them again and neither should you. read more

Hailed a cab from the street while in downtown rochester to go back home to Webster. This was at 4 in the afternoon. Checker Cab #256, Wogene Hailemariam (585-303-4956) the driver was possibly driver I've ever had - or possibly drunk. Seriously, I called the police because I was that worried. He couldn't stay in his lane, he was consistently driving 10 mph under the speed limit, his eyes were bloodshot, and when we were trying to give him instructions about where to turn, etc, he was unable to follow them. When I called Checker Cab to complain about this, they said that it wasn't their problem because we didn't call them to arrange the cab ride. The model of accountability! read more

I use Checker regularly for my business trips. So far, they have always been on time and reliable. That's what I care about most. Service is also friendly. They do show up about 10 minutes early, which I appreciate and expect. And often, I too am ready early and we get a head start. Dependable and reliable. read more

this company doesnt even deserve one star, they have never been on time for my wifes medical rides. she calls to find out where they are and is told "be there in 20 minutes." she makes the same call multiple times with the same answer everytime and then they show up over an hour late when its too late to make her appointment.They are also very rude on the phone and will yell at you when simply ask them where your cab is, the lady who is "the manager" according to her, refuses to help, and will again yell and hang up on you when you ask why they are late, and ask what they will do to make it right. we just found out that we can tell medicaid not to schedule medical rides with them, so we will never be doing business with them again. They are begging to go out of business, and most absolutely should. read more

Chester Cab took my phone information and never alerted me to the fact that they had arrived at my location to pick me up. When I called to address the issue, they informed me that someone had been picked up from my location, so they never called. So, because I wasn't outside at my location, it was completely acceptable for someone else to steal my ride? The dispatcher I spoke with thought so....excellent customer service, Chester Cab. You make Billy Madison look like the smartest man alive. Seriously, Chester Cab is the worst. read more

Used several times in the past.....typically later than promised......I guess this is the norm for most.

On April 26th, my Wife and I called this Cab Company in order to get a ride to Greece from Monroe Ave in Pittsford. I had two discussions on the phone with the dispatcher prior to the cab arrival, in which he let me know the status of how far the cab was from our location on both occasions - at this point things were going fine. Then the cab arrived. The cab arrived and it was an older vehicle than I expected and when we entered the cab it was slightly dirtier than expected, but not to a degree that would cause concern at all. The cab driver started driving and informed us abruptly that he only took cash. This had not been mentioned at any point on either of the phone calls that I'd had with the dispatcher. When we informed the driver we had both American Express and Visa he stated they took Visa, but we had to call the dispatcher to pay over the phone - we thought this was odd but not an issue. He started to drive us toward the highway past Mario's. The dispatcher stated over the phone that their machine did not work, so they did not take cards. This was the exact same person that I had talked to on the phone twice before this, and this had not been mentioned. The driver started to slow down abruptly, immediately in front of the on-ramp to the highway and looked at us as if he expected us to get out of the car- on the side of Monroe Ave, right in front of the highway, at midnight! Only after nervously stating that we could obtain cash did he continue and get on the high way. At this point both my wife and I were extremely uncomfortable. When we got to Greece, after a long awkward drive, the cab driver took us half a mile out of our way to stop at an ATM. At this point, my wife and I had to get out of the cab and walk to the ATM, in an empty parking lot, at midnight, with a stranger parked immediately behind us. This was now an exceedingly uncomfortable experience. We got back in the cab, and of course the meter ran through this entire process at the bank. We had the cab driver drop us off several doors down from the location we were going to, which I hope conveys how off-putting this entire event was. We then waited to even walk in the direction of our house until the cab was out of site. I would never call this cab company again, and I would urge anyone that is planning to call them to strongly reconsider. read more

My service is always late. Late to pick me up to go to my medical appointments and very late to take me home. It's not unusual for them to be over an hour late. I call multiple times and get the same answer "ten to twenty mins." As I write this now, they are late again to pick me up to take me to a doctor's appointment. I have missed my appointment entirely so many y times I am close to being kicked out of the practice. Medicaid keeps scheduling me with them even tho I request a different service. 100% dissatisfied. read more

My experience was horrible beyond description. On Labor Day I wanted a cab from the Hyatt Regency on East Main Street to the Greyhound bus station. There was a parade, and the driver couldn't figure out how to get around it. Then he got a radio call for another job and immediately suggested that I walk with my heavy suitcase. He pointed vaguely in a direction and said it wasn't far. Well, it was far--farther than if I had just walked from the hotel in the first place. This wonderful experience cost me $5. read more

This is the worst cab company in Rochester. Waited over an hour for a cab and was eventually told that they couldn't pick me up. This egregious business practice is why Rochester needs a service like Uber or Lyft. I plan on telling every person I know to never use this service. read more

My girlfriend works on her feet in six inch heels and the temperature dropped about ten degrees from when she arrived at work to when she left, and she did not bring a jacket. Due to previous harassment issues she has faced on this walk home, I called her a cab to go about a mile. The operator LAUGHED at me when she heard how far she was going and suggested that it was absurd that my girlfriend did not walk. When I explained her situation, she laughed again and said someone would be on his way soon. It took 45 minutes for him to arrive. Regardless of how far she was going, she's paying for the ride and tips every time. There is no reason to receive any opinions from the dispatcher, rude or otherwise. Our usual driver (from a much better company) was unavailable, and once before we had used Checker Cab and the driver never showed up. We should have learned our lesson. I will absolutely never use this company again and if anyone asks I will tell them it's better to just walk because this cab company will suggest that, anyway. read more

I used to take this cab regularly 20+ years ago. They have gotten worse and worse. Money grubbing cabbies, that show no respect to children traveling alone or the elderly. Over 30 minute wait times. read more
