    Huntington Bank

    Huntington Bank

    Downtown Ann Arbor

The people at Huntington Bank on Main Street in Ann Arbor Michigan are soooo caring, kind and…read morerespectful of their clients. I know there's a lot to read here, but if you like a good story then read through to the end, because you're not going to believe what they did! My name is Kathleen, and one day I completed my banking transaction in only a few minutes. I could see through the glass doors that the driver of the Mobility assist vehicle who just dropped me off was still parked out front, head down, taking care of paperwork. I quickly called the dispatch and told them I was done with my banking and was trying to get to the door; I asked the dispatch to please hold the driver so they could take me straight home instead of me having to stand there and wait an hour or so for a different vehicle to be sent out to pick me up. The dispatch person utterly refused to allow me to ride back home in that van, and was so rude and horrible in the manner in which she said it that the Huntington bank employee was shocked at what he could hear her saying to me through my phone. Please note: that's just how elderly/disabled people are treated a lot of the time, you'd be surprised. Anyway, I said okay, okay and I hung up the phone. By then the van had left. So I started walking towards the door; it's really hard for me and I was struggling, but I decided to just try and make it home if I could. I only made it about 20 feet outside of the bank when someone called out to me. It was one of the Huntington Bank employees. He said he was in a back room, but heard from the people up front how I was treated and he didn't like it. You know, this really speaks to the quality and character of the people they hire at Huntington, that they could stand up against something they felt was wrong; especially in this day and age, I couldn't believe it. Everyone in the bank was outraged at how the Mobility dispatcher treated me and they decided they weren't going to allow one of their elderly customers to struggle or suffer just trying to get home. The rep told me they were going to get me home safely, and that's what they did. He carefully helped me onto a seat in the nearby outdoor patio area of a local restaurant, then instructed me to wait for him to come back and bring the car around. It took about 10 minutes; I realized he had to walk to the parking structure where his car was located, through the structure to get to his car, wait in line to check his car out, then drive around to where I was patiently waiting for him. Then he drove me home with a smile. Yeah, my bank actually did that for me. Gotta love those guys at Huntington, praise God!

If I could give this branch zero stars, I would. Please heed this warning....don't use this bank…read morefor your personal banking. I was a regular customer here from 2004-2008 while I lived in A2, maintaining my checking account here. I also opened a personal line of credit in 2008 to facilitate my move to Chicago that fall. I paid off my line of credit within 10 months, never missing a payment and never being late on payments. When I paid off the account, I called to close both my checking and line of credit accounts. I was told this was no problem. They sent me a check for $250, the remaining amount in my checking account, so I sadly assumed the accounts were closed. Fast forward to December 2017 when i pull my credit report as part of the home buying process. I see I owe KeyBank $1100?!!! I call their generic Customer service line to see why this is.....turns out that my accounts were never closed as promised. Apparently my line of credit and checking were linked and when they returned my checking account balance to me, my account then defaulted because it didn't contain the required minimum balance. So the bank drew from the line of credit every month for 9 years to pay the fees....KeyBank did not contact me in any way. Nor did they report me to any credit agency. I thought the accounts were closed so this just went on and on for years. The branch managers have been less than helpful. First Katie (who's now at another local A2 branch) and now Lopa. Katie wrote off $200 but honestly that's a joke given their error in not closing my account in 2008-2009 and lack of effort in contacting me to obtain payment on a delinquent account. She did manage to close my checking account finally and as a parting gift, she then reported my delinquent line of credit to a collections agency. And Lopa....well she's been totally useless with her empty promises to call me back after she discusses with Katie. I'd steer clear of any manager who doesn't know how to manage. So heed my warning....run away from KeyBank. This bank is the worst.
