They took my Husband to go over the operation of the boat for a good 10 minutes before allowing the rest of us to board. He's an experienced boater and a quick learner so we were very comfortable. The boat was very clean and contained the necessary safety equipment, including life jackets. We spent 3 hours on the lake enjoying a beautiful day of riding and fishing. When we were finished, we brought the boat in, unloaded our things while the marina gassed it back up. We received our gas bill, paid it, and left. Super easy all the way around and the employees were great! If we every find ourselves back at Chautauqua Lake, we'll definitely rent from them again!

The behavior we encountered was confrontational, combative, and completely irrational. Without question, this was the worst customer service experience I have ever had. Staff was incapable of having a professional conversation and handled the situation in an extremely unprofessional manner. We were denied use of the pontoon boat for the day we had reserved. Rather than simply refunding that day, he abruptly canceled and refunded the remaining three days of our rental as well, then told us to leave. The entire interaction was completely unprovoked. I genuinely feel sorry for anyone who has to work under those conditions. The woman who initially helped us at the counter was kind and professional, and she appeared visibly shocked and uncomfortable with the way the staff was conducting himself and representing the business. If I were the owner, I would be deeply concerned about the quality of management and customer interactions taking place. Then again, business must be doing well if they can casually refund $1,600 and turn away paying customers without a second thought. Based on our experience, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere.

Very recently, I was in their office to drop off the batteries for our pontoon boat. That evening, I received a text from an antagonistic individual in the neighborhood which included a photograph of me covertly taken while I was in the Holiday Harbor offices. The text included profanity and threats. It turns out that Charles, the owner of Holiday Harbor, took the picture and sent it to at least one individual in the neighborhood, who then used it to send a threatening message to me. That individual was arrested and, when confronted with his actions, Charles indicated he does this type of thing routinely. I have never encountered a business owner, particularly in a small community, that behaves in that fashion. It is astonishing that a local business owner would act in that manner, intentionally and deliberately creating a controversial and potentially dangerous situation. I strongly recommend, for your own safety, that you avoid doing business with Charles. He has a great staff, but he should not be trusted whatsoever under any circumstances. Regrettably, there is no option to rate this business with less than one star.

We ended up paying for a new propeller that "was broken" and which ended up not being the cause of us stranded in the water. According to one of the employees who opened up the motor and I quote "You are fine, it's nothing. It's just the pin." He then yelled across the parking lot to the owner "it's not the drive, it's the pin in the transmission. We just need a new pin." The owner's response "I still need to put a new prop on it." Again, we were told by the employee we were not at fault. The owner then removed the 3 blade prop, removed the plastic sheath, said that part was fine. He did not charge us for a new plastic sheath and then put a 4 blade prop on the motor, which we were charged for. Apparently after we left, they replaced the pin as we saw the same boat in the water a few hours later. So for the frustration and dishonesty from the owner, if you still rent from them, DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL YOU QUESTION EVERYTHING AND TAKE A PICTURE TO COVER YOUR BUTT. Do not trust and take your business else where.

Three years ago, they finally found the perfect property - located in the cute little community of Lakewood - and, officially became the owners of multiple homes. Lake Chautauqua is surprisingly idyllic - set in the finger lakes of southwestern New York - it is surrounded by wineries and cute little communities like Bemis Point and Jamestown (which was the birthplace of Lucille Ball.) It's about 40 miles east of Erie, PA and 80 miles south of Buffalo; it is also easy to get to from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and New York City. The lake it's self is about ten miles long and is great for fishing, boating, tubing and other variety of water sports. The Chautauqua Institute is nearby - hosting concerts and a series of high profile speakers (Al Gore, Jane Goodall most recently) throughout the year. The community of Lilydale is host to a psychic community (and, fairy houses) which is renowned throughout the country - a little wacky, if you ask me, but very interesting to visit. Year round it is a beautiful place to live: the colors in the fall are amazing, winter brings lots of ice fishing, skiing and such, spring and summer are big tourist times here. Frankly, the only time I am truly relaxed is for the two weeks of vacation I get to take with my family (yes, I know I am a dork for liking to hang out with my family on vacation.) We sleep late, eat well, sit around on the boat or deck reading/playing cards/staring at the mote in the middle distance, drink wine and just chillax. It's wonderful.

My boat had a shifting problem for close to 5 years since I bought it and a different boat repair…read moreplace said it was impossible to fix the problem because parts were no longer made to fix the issue. Turns out that wasn't correct at all. Findley Lake Marine was able to fix exactly what was wrong and no new parts were needed. It had something to do with an electronic component that needed to be adjusted along with the shift linkage. One of the staff explained in detail the situation I was in and how they were able to fix it. The boat runs better now than it ever has and almost feels like a brand new boat! I would recommend Finley Lake Marine to anyone for their boat's needs. The staff are absolutely wonderful!
