I recently stayed at the Chauncey for a work function, and really enjoyed my time here! Every single staff member I encountered was incredibly polite and friendly. The grounds are beautiful - unfortunately the weather was pretty mediocre the whole time I was here, it would have been *amazing* if it wasn't cold and rainy! The room was very comfortable - very spacious, it opened directly out into a central garden, nice products provided in the bathroom, and a *lot* of towels and extra bedding already in the room. Oooh, and bonus points for free wired and wireless internet. I ate several meals in the Solomon Dining Room, and all of them were quite delicious! It was all served buffet style, but all the dishes were very fresh and tasty. I also drank several beers in their Bar, which was very nice. They had a couple pool tables AND a foosball table! Had a great time - despite the couple of missing players on the table (and the table's tendency to let the ball roll right into my goal). Overall, this place was pretty awesome. Probably should be 4.5 stars, only a couple annoyances, but nothing worth actually complaining about.

Came here for afternoon noon via a Living Social promotion. The place was situated in the huge non-profit ETS camp ground and has a tranquil garden with a fountain and bright red painted lounge chairs. We were offered choices of eight different kinds of teas and three layers of finger foods. The top layer scones were fresh and authentic when spread with Devonshire cream. The middle layer sandwich breads were a little stale. The bottom layer had common too-sweet American cookies. They also offered a glass of Champagne as part of the deal but was wondering what would Queen Mother thought if she was offered that as part of her afternoon cream tea?

This venue is located outside of downtown Princeton, "in the cut" as I like to say, in the wooded area off the beaten path. We almost missed it driving down Rosedale Road but just look out for signs. We came here since I had a Living Social deal for Tea for 2. I brought my mom. Upon entering the center, we were greeted by the front lobby staff. We were directed to the upstairs dining area where tea was being held. *Be sure to call ahead since they serve tea at certain times during the weekend. The dining area is clean, airy, and modernly decorated. We had a view of the back area of the center and could see a tent. I think there was a wedding there the night before. Our server brought out our samples of tea and we both chose the Acai Pomegrante tea. She brought us some nibbles on a 3 tier tray. How lovely! The scones were delicious and fresh. The sandwiches were good, but the bread was a bit stale. Tea was nice! We used dainty little tea pots which came with a strainer to catch the loose leaves. We had such a nice time and appreciated the patience and friendliness of the waitress. She was a doll. I think everyone should make time for tea at Chauncey, especially if you're in the area.

I have been to this hotel many times for workshops and I have been impressed each time! The staff is efficient n accommodating, the grounds are beautiful, and can we talk about the abundance of food and desserts?! The buffet is a pretty good spread for a hotel, which is not too surprising since this hotel facilitates many conferences and weddings. Everyone one from the workshop raves about this hotel and that is why we will likely keep coming back.

Brick Farm Tavern - Taurus Moon Burger

    Brick Farm Tavern

My wife and I came to Brick Farm Tavern for my birthday dinner since we like trying someplace new…read morein the area. The setting is very nice. It has a rustic farmhouse feel (wood floors with wide boards, multiple fireplaces) but still comes across as more upscale than your typical tavern. The dining room has a warm atmosphere without being too loud, so you can actually have a conversation without shouting. We started with the seasonal pickle plate (beets, carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, fennel, olives) and the bread plate (three different breads with two different butters and olive oil). Both were a good way to kick things off. The pickled vegetables had a nice variety and the bread was fresh and paired well with the accompaniments. For our entrees, my wife went with the homemade pasta while I chose the Wagyu NY strip steak cooked medium rare with bourbon maple glazed root vegetables. The steak was cooked exactly as requested and had great flavor. The root vegetables added a nice sweetness that complemented the dish well. My wife really enjoyed her pasta and had enough to take some home. To finish the night, we had the mozzarella gelato (yes, you read that right - mozzarella), along with tea for my wife and coffee and Sambuca for me. The gelato was a unique dessert and a nice way to wrap up the meal. Our waitress Jemma was very friendly and attentive throughout the night without being overbearing. Overall, everything was very good. This is definitely a place we would return to, especially for a nice dinner out.

This was a large historic farmhouse with a menu that changes often. They source most of their food…read moreright from their farms which was cool to see. The service was very friendly, and the food came out promptly. They also provided complimentary champagne for our celebration. For appetizers, the duck bacon and vegetable fritters ($16) and hand-made potato and cheese pierogies ($19) were ordered. The fritters consisted of house cured and smoked duck breast with a whipped lemon ricotta. There were two present and each were fried perfectly. The lemon ricotta was definitely needed to pair with the salty fritter. It was a great compliment. The pierogies were of the squash variety and they came with caramelized onions and sauteed greens. There were about five or six substantial size pierogies and each sized appropriately. The squash layer really made them airy and the filling was tasty. The onions were a little too soft as there was some type of broth present. The greens were ideal though. For an entrée, I had the signature tavern burger ($38). It was a cold smoked grass-fed ground beef patty with caramelized onion, bone marrow, bacon jam, and potato wedges. I also had the gruyere and bacon added to the burger for no extra fee. When I initially ordered, I thought the bone marrow was just going to be on the burger, but I was wrong. Right next to the burger was one of bigger bone marrows I have seen. It was very good with the onions and bacon pieces. The marrow itself paired nicely with the bacon and onions. For the burger itself, I opted for it to be medium rare, and it came out perfect. There was an ideal ratio of bread to filling. The bacon jam was not too overpowerful, and the meat was seasoned well. The potato wedges which I believe were cooked in tallow were also large. They were crispy and seasoned nicely too. It was a well put together meal. I also tried the lamb being offered that night which I believe came with a lamb sausage and a shallot tzatziki. This was solid as well, but there were a number of fatty pieces I was surprised to see. For dessert, the mozzarella gelato ($12) was ordered. Yes, this had to be ordered to give it a try, and it was well received. There was not an overpowerful flavor of cheese, which I was afraid of. It did taste like mozzarella, but not overwhelming. The actual gelato was very creamy too, which I am sure helped. Will I go back? I would.

Where can I start , my wedding took place this past Saturday the 8th, my husband and I booked this…read morevenue a year ago , I did my research online prior to booking and read the great reviews, we visited the lake house and fell in love with it. Since the very beginning we did not get a good vibe from the housing manager Sally. Her attitude was dry, careless and arrogant. But I chose to look beside it because I really believed this venue was the perfect place to make my rustic themed visionary wedding to life. I can basically say I reached out or called sally maximum 4 times for help with questions because I did not feel comfortable approaching her with her dry attitude. All this woman talks and brags about is her husbands job as a CEO of a drug treatment program , big shit. Now lets start with my experience on my wedding week PLEASE READ THIS PRIOR TO BOOKING WITH SALLY, SO YOU CAN BE AWARE AND NOT HAVE THIS HAPPEN TO YOU My fiance paid the venue in full three weeks before the event , Sally told us many months ago that if in the occasion that the night before our event , the venue was not booked we may go drop off our equipment and decorate the day before. Three weeks ago Sally verbally told my fiance, wedding planner, and I that we may decorate on Friday since it was not booked nor she believed it would be with such short notice. We are super excited and relieved that we were able to decorate the day before. On wednesday August 5th I called Sally for last minute questions and reconfirmed our arrival on Friday to drop off & decorate , Sally responds" Oh i am sorry an architecture business meeting/reunion will be held Friday you can no longer come to decorate" " I am sorry for last minute" .... ok so when was she planning to call me to tell me this ? Secondly, Sally continued to tell me that I can still drop off the decorations and store them in a room , on Friday August 7th between 9:00- 1:00pm Friday August 7th : My family and I load up 3 cars , and drive 1 hour and 10 minutes to arrive to the lake house and NO ONE IS HOME. I call Sally and her voicemail states she is off and away August 7th, 21st - 30th . Thank you Sally for causing me a stress overload the day before my wedding. Very irresponsible of this housing manager to do this. I could not believe my eyes, I emailed her and recieved no response to this day!!!! Luckily a woman drove in that very moment, by the name of Mary Anne, which rents office space in the second floor , she opened the door for us and allowed us to store our things in a room upstairs. Mary anne and Dan were very helpful , and provided em with the care takers phone number Mr. Haas who I contacted later that afternoon to request for premises to be cleaned prior to my event. The caretaker was very helpful the day of our event and made sure everything was found clean and left cleaned at the end of the night. The last thing a bride or couple should go through is a stressful moment due to the venue in where we have paid so much money to have our wedding take place. I believed in this lakehouse and Sally's work ethics. I never would have imagined to have such a terrible experience. In addition to this she was not present the saturday of my event either. Neither did she request a copy of our bartenders liqour licence certification after driving us nearly crazy for this months before. What kind of unorganized , careless woman do you have running your business? Please look into this matter and please reach out to me, because I know this venue is owned by the city/county and not privately owned by Sally. There has to be management over her and I very much wish to be contacted I would not take my time to express such a long detailed review if I did not feel so disgusted by my terrible experience with this manager .

Let's start with the positives: It's beautiful, accessible, and reasonably priced for the location. The caretaker was accommodating a sweet. The scenery and unique setup of the house lends itself well to true photographic artists. Now for the negatives: There really was only one negative aspect of our experience, and that was Sally. She was fine to start with, but two weeks before our wedding told us that we could not have our caterer use his smoker on the property due to it being a fire hazard in a nature reserve. This would have been understandable had she, and the fire marshal, not already approved the use of an open fire pit on the property. Naturally this confused us and we tried to sort out the issue with the marshal ourselves. Long story short, she was being untruthful, was not up to date on the codes, and really just didn't want to damage the grass so she passed the buck to someone else. She was also very intrusive while we were setting up, and rude to everyone until she realized we had hired event planners with us. We would recommend this establishment to everyone, everywhere, save the detail of this woman being responsible for facilitating the event. Be cautious when booking with them, and get everything in writing well in advance.
