This was the smoothest experience we've ever had getting new countertops. Carolina Countertops…read moreupgraded our dark, 20-year-old kitchen countertops and island, backsplash, stovetop, sink and faucet, and they did our powder room countertop, sink and faucet installation. We even had a bit of a difficult kitchen because they had to remove old granite on a number of walls. We reached out to Carolina Countertops the first week of December with the long-shot aspiration of upgrading our kitchen before Christmas. Josh was quick to respond, and by that Friday he was consulting with us at our house. Even with a snowstorm that weekend, he was able to meet us at the showroom the following Tuesday to pick our stone. One week later, the countertops were completely installed! The plumber was out that same day, then the backsplash was installed the following two days. From the time we reached out to Carolina Countertops to the final installation, the whole process took fewer than three weeks. And again, there was a snowstorm in the middle :) On top of that, Josh was a complete joy to work with. He was consultative, actually listened to our requests, and he offered up good suggestions when we got stuck. Nothing seemed like a problem for him, and in the end he proved his team's competence by expertly working through every hurdle that came their way. We can't recommend Carolina Countertops enough. Our friends and family have been thrilled with our new kitchen and powder room, and we were excited to have them completely done with a few days to spare before the holidays.

Terrible service but good products…read more In summary: Service Rep was late for our first two appointments, we ended up asking for someone else to get the project rolling and still ended working with her. Delivery of the counter- they were to be here at 5pm on a Thursday, 6pm rolls around and still no idea if and when they were to show up. Contacted Camilla and since it was after hours she had no way to find out if and when they were to show up. They ended up showing up at 7:40 pm- 2 hrs and 40 minutes late. I told Camilla to have a Manager call me the following day to discuss all of our issues. To her credit about noon the next day she emailed me and asked if Mike (Operations or Logistics Manager) contacted me. I told her I never heard anything. Eventually Mike called me back on Monday- he was off for an extended weekend. No one stepped in and frankly no one from the management team ever called me up after I complained to Mike. Very frustrating company to work with- as I said good product but the service is awful.

We have a Chippendale chair made in the mid-18th century. The fabric on the seat was applied in the…read more1970's, and the chair needed reupholstering. Several fabric shops suggested that we use Spivey's Upholstery because of Mr. Spivey's knowledge of antique furniture. We took the chair to Mr. Spivey and shared with him something of the chair's provenance. In a few days he contacted us and told us that he had been doing some research on our chair and found artifacts in the piece suggesting that in the 1930's the owner attempted a restoration of the chair. Some of the materials and techniques used for the 1930 restoration were not authentic to the period of the chair's manufacture. He asked if we wanted him simply to replace what he found, or to use traditional techniques and materials. We assured him that we wanted the chair as nearly identical to its original design as possible. I was astounded at Mr. Spivey's knowledge, his willingness to do intensive research and his skill in restoring the Chippendale chair to its original glorious appearance. As he worked on the chair, he continued to find features in the wood revealing how the chair had originally been assembled, covered and decorated. Mr. Spivey followed these cues and produced a chair that is genuinely a work of art. We are heartily delighted with Mr. Spivey's expertise and skill, and we offer the highest recommendation possible.

There is a Seagrove Pottery shop/studio tour map and Potts Pottery is listed as an "Appointment…read moreOnly" Kiln unloading stop, when in fact Mrs. Potts has a little shop on site that was open when we drove by! I loved her little shop and really loved getting a little perspective from a generational potter. Both her mother's and father's family were potters and she was one of five kids who were raised making pottery and feeding the farm animals. She talked to me about how as a small kid- you would make 100 coaster a day to start. Once you were consistent enough, you could move onto bowls. Her shop was filled with production pottery and I felt a little sad that this was work for these families and not the artistic outlet that pottery is to me. She also shared one technique I had never heard of and now I am itching to try! I picked out two little syrup pitchers from her shop- I thought they were adorable and our Bed and Breakfast was using them- so I was inspired to bring some home with me. I truly enjoyed this little stop and Mrs. Potts made a lasting impression on me!
