Chateau Verde always felt like a different world inside UP. Once I walk through its arched entryway, I see a manicured garden of grass, flowers, and other plants. I feel relaxed even before I reach the restaurant, which was a bit expensive for UP student standards, but was a nice place to eat for a treat or to celebrate. I remember eating once or twice here when I was a student and a few more times when I was already working.
Now, though, the restaurant has closed down, and Chateau Verde is more of an events venue. Its garden setting is perfect just for that. I missed it when it closed down. So I was happy to receive an invitation for the birthday of a friend's daughter. They made great use of the garden setting, using colorful decorations that stood out like flowers in the garden. The kids played games and had fun. This was an entirely different Chateau Verde experience, but I was glad to come back. read more
