This is a great looking property, the rooms are well appointed and spacious. However, there were a number of small problems, that if isolated wouldn't have been too much of a problem, but together made for an unpleasant stay.
The rate that we booked included a bottle of port. I mentioned this at check-in and the lady said it would be no problem. When we got to the room there was no bottle of port. I called the reception and she said it would be brought straight away, it never was.
The King bed wasn't really a King bed, but two smaller beds pushed together. This wouldn't really have been a big deal except for the fact that the middle of the bed had very hard ridges and made for an uncomfortable night's sleep.
When we arrived the wifi did not work in the room. It worked in the rest of the resort, just not in the room. I called reception hoping they would send someone out, but their only suggestion was to come to Reception inferring that I was doing something wrong. Instead I found the router in the room and after a few minutes of figuring it out, reset the unit and voila, wifi was now working.
I called to ask about dinner options hoping to be able to have an early (5pm) dinner. I was told the restaurant did not open until 6pm. I asked if I needed to make a reservation and was told no, just come around 6:15 and we will be sat immediately. When we arrived at 6:15 we were told that the earliest reservation was at 8:30. That was very disappointing.
So we ordered at the bar instead from a very limited menu with zero vegetarian options. The bartender suggested a Caesar Salad without meat. It came with bacon bits all over it. We sent it back, telling them to keep the lettuce, cheese and croutons, but eliminate the bacon. After an incredibly long wait the sorriest looking salad of just lettuce and croutons arrived; they had taken the cheese off with the bacon. They still had the gall to charge full price though.
I can't believe I was charged $20 extra a night for a crib, that seems very miserly, especially when paying $300 p/n for the room.
On a positive note, breakfast was good. read more
