When we first arrived we experienced issues with the door code to get into the room. One of the ladies tried and couldn't get it so they had to reset and send us a new code. We had left for the evening and when we returned the new code did not work the front door. After a few minutes we tried the old code which let us in the front door and the new code to the room. We were advised our room was upgraded due to construction in the room, no one ever mentioned the construction downstairs beside our room beginning at 9 am on Sat and 8:45 am on Sunday. Then Sat came back to the room to take a nap and no there was no nap due to non stop construction up to almost 7 pm. It would have been nice to have been told about the construction and all day noise. We took the weekend as a nice and quiet get away. Very disappointed in the accommodations with construction. I would have left on Sunday but the reservation was through Monday. read more

A really amazing stay. Homely feel with history. Such a beautiful property that feels secure and filled with peace in a great location. The room was VERY clean and quiet. The manager/host had amazing communication and great recommendations of the area if what to do and where to eat. Every morning was a continental style breakfast and coffee/ juice. First off, they cat fish on the website, the rooms look a lot nicer, they call it a suite but it is actually just communal living like in a dorm. Next, there were about a dozen worms/bugs under the covers of the beds Next, there was dried red/brown stains on the sheets upon arrival. We had very good instructions for contactless check in. Our room was off a common room and since it was a slow time for them we had that common area almost to ourselves. Our room was small but comfortable enough for our overnight stay. It was scrupulously clean. There are larger rooms that would be good for longer stays. Breakfast was great with lots of choices. Very dissatisfied.  I have stayed here before and it was nice, but I think they changed ownership. They used to come in early and put out a very nice cold breakfast. No more...they just left us some ceral, and some bagels in the fridge. The ice maker there, which we enjoyed, was broken. They didn't provide enough towels. Before, they were cleaned daily. No more. And the worst part was that were having a cold snap with the weather dipping into the low thirties and they refused to adjust the thermostats. The only blanket was this very thin cotton spread. I was freezing whole time. The rooms are clean, but no bedside lamp or chest of drawers. ...A one star rating! read more

Charming family owned hotel, nice manager and pristine rooms. We had the place to ourselves as we popped in for a quick one night stay, and we want to return! -Essentially a large family style updated house, with 2 common rooms, a kitchen featuring a large gas stove, and 2 floors of balcony. -Free breakfast between 730 and 930 AM -11am checkout -Seems to be a florida secret and a fisherman/golfer sanctuary -Lots of character and high quality for less than $100 a night -A tad off the beaten path from the crystal river if youre doing the manatee thing, but seems like a fun area too! read more

We have stayed at the Chassahowitzka Hotel twice during family get togethers. It always feels like our Florida home away from home. Jeff is our host who helps with check in and serves a nice continental breakfast in the morning in the kitchen with hot fresh coffee. Jeff is always friendly and fun to talk with and always has the best recommendations for things to do in the area and great places to eat. Debbie is the cleaner and always keeps the Chaz spotless and well stocked. The location to the Chassahowitzka River for kayak and boat rentals is perfect. Just a short walk around the corner to the water. Seeing the river from a kayak is something everyone should experience. Cannot wait to come back to "old Florida" and sit on that beautiful porch with a cold drink. Always love our time there. read more

Hotek is dirty. Upon checking in we saw so many bugs in beds. But we had too many beers at next door lodge to drive elsewhere and no Uber's around that area. Slept in car and we left the door open to the room all night to show that we did not use room at all. Gross location. read more

My husband and I wanted a different experience, since this was a special occasion. We were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary. We had friends in the Homosassa area, and manage to find this hotel on hotels.com. What an incredible weekend! While the weather wasn't super cooperative, everything else was amazing. The place was certainly unique! The owner Jim, was there to share little stories when we felt like visiting, and yet we also felt much more privacy and a homey feel that isn't at a standard hotel. Our room was huge, with a full bed and two twin beds and a enormous bathroom. While we didn't need the space, it was great to have that whole end of the house, and feel sort of secluded. Walking out our door onto the balcony to such a view, was the highlight of our stay!! Enjoying a little complimentary breakfast at the long family style table was fun too. This place doesn't feel like a hotel, has more of an Air BnB feel or a lodge, and we loved that! It was clean, comfortable, had a steady flow of guests, and we are already planning to come back ourselves!! read more

I live on the beach in Pinellas Co and operate a 1st class kayak tour service. On Clearwater Beach an avg. hotel room is $250 - $300. Per night. Its very easy to spend more as was the case for my guests who were paying $560.00 a night for a suite w/ kitchenette. Hyatt. They are repeat customers to me...so when they returned this year they looked me up and wanted to do another kayak trip. Nice couple with 2 children. They drive down so they have their own car...I normally also provide r/t transportation. As it were he wanted to get a sunrise start...and the Chaz is about an hours drive... So I recommended the Chaz Hotel because I had stayed there when Dave and Kim managed it few years back. I am always careful who I recommend as I dont want my people to blame me for a poor recommendation. So they checked out the Hyatt....and then I went up before the rooster crows and picked the family up in my van and trailer with the kayaks. There is an excellent gal named Carla that has kayaks and offers tours... But they insisted they wanted me...so I just made it happen. The launch is just around the corner not even a mile at the Chaz campground. I bring up a few families a month to this particular location. And Doreen is the usual nice lady you pay to park and launch in the camp office. Well we were in the water as the sun was peeking up and the camp office was not open so I just left her a note. How was the hotel I asked? You were right...a bit of a hokey layout as originally was a house not a hotel... More of an Inn then a " hotel" but the girls loved it...and last night sitting on the vernanda out our room they saw a couple deer. Place was immaculate..very clean. For 100 bucks ... Perfect. No complaints. Jeff the manager super nice and helpful. ... Our coversation was inturupted 5 minutes downstream by 3 manatees... The rest of the day we saw a few gators...more manatees...100s of birds Coming back went up into Potters creek. Saw a momma otter and her cub. Then back to campground before the sunset. Checkout from the hotel I believe is 10am ...but Jeff had allowed him to keep their mercedes at the hotel. My customer regretted not booking a 2nd nite at the Chaz instead choosing to book Plantation in Crystal River...taking the hwy 19 / 98 panhandle scenic route back to Austin Tx where they live. Leaving... He says you know next year I think we will book a few days here....and find us something nice in Silver Springs because the girls want to see the monkeys again. Then he paid me with a 200.00 tip ...cool... Had the Chaz hotel been rude..not clean...my customer would not of been happy. He was thrilled and even commented it was cleaner and quieter then the Hyatt at 500. Plus a night. So... Just thought Id share and thank the Chasshowitza Hotel ... I wont hesitate to recommend to others going forward. read more

Just stayed yet again at the Chaz' Hotel. I travel a lot for a non-prof educational org and the hotels are all the same - some worse than others - some better, but all with a sameness and no sense of "home". The Chassahowitzka Hotel is en exception. It is run by a fourth generation hotelier. The Chaz Hotel began as a fish camp about 100 years ago offering very basic lodging and easy access to fishing. Today, the Chaz Hotel is a beautiful place, shaded by old growth oaks and is well appointed. The owners Dave and Kim are not only veterans - they are uniquely suited to a very difficult task - making people feel at home when they are not. They now have a manager to help them - Jeff, and he is also excellent. I could literally go on and on. They have access to fishing guides and golfing. They offer meals for groups - hand prepared on site, often by the owners themselves. The entire place is always "scary" clean - immaculate and inviting. Dave and Kim have preserved the old Florida feel, while simultaneously offering all of the modern conveniences. I hate to even write this review for fear it might attract more people and limit my own access to my favorite hotel on the planet! If you would like a weekend get away or are an avid fisherman or golfer - this is THE place to go. It is near lots of great restaurants and many outdoor activities in a place that is always green. They even manage a house nearby called "The Maggie House", with four beds and two full bathrooms - it is gorgeous and can be had for a very reasonable cost.
