At peak times it will usually have a few buses starting at Five Ways Island on Calthorpe Road. I like this bus, having travelled all the way along it on one journey or another. I usually use it between Moseley and Five Ways. It can get very caught up in traffic at peak times and I've been left waiting quite a while on many occasions. However, the buses on the route are generally all new ones. They are clean and spacious and it's easy to get on and off with a pushchair. It stops outside the MAC and generally has one of the nicer routes of South Birmingham buses in my experiences.

There were three lines at Passport security - UK citizens, EU citizens, and Other passports. Went thru the Immigration line super fast - Non-EU, non-UK passport at 9 pm on a Saturday night, was a breeze, despite only two Border Security counters being open. From their, it was a hop thru to a slightly confusing bag claim area and then was headed out to the exits and a long walk to the parking area. Sunny Travel is a small, independent bus company about which information is hard to come by. From…read morewhat I can gather the company is registered out in Willenhall but their garage is in Smethwick and they own a handful of small buses. My own experience with them is their 120 service which runs from Birmingham Corporation Street to Oldbury (the same route as the National Express 120E) and I have always been very pleased. For a start, their fare is a lot cheaper - from Bearwood to mine would usually cost £1.70 on an NWM bus but is a mere quid on these buses. Okay, the buses are smaller and less modern but they're no less comfortable or bumpy than a usual bus. The drivers are always friendly and, on one occasion, the driver asked everyone if they were okay if he took a shortcut because he was running behind which meant we all got to our destination a lot quicker! I rather wish this company ran more bus routes more frequently (I know round here they also run a 128 service), because this 120 is a damn sight better than the main one.

They also do indoor caving ( could be interesting ) and archery. Kids really enjoyed it - instruction was good & kept the kids entertained. Willingtonton is poorley served by crosscountry trains with limited services stopping at the station, therefore its highly advisable to check with crosscountry trains website to ensure there are trains for the time of day you are traveling. the station is operated by ivanhoe, which is a train operator in the uk and does not feature a ticket office, but tickets can be purchused penalty free from the train conductor on board the train. Crosscountry trains run to Nottingham via derby, Birmingham New Street, and Cardiff Central. There are limited services mainly at Peak times in the morning and evening.

What I found was a wonder exhibition showcasing the history of Curzon Street Station. There is years of history behind those walls, each room had a display of photographs complete with information about part of Birmingham's past, the people involved in making Curzon St station tick at the time and plans for the future. Completed in 1839 Curzon Street Station is the oldest surviving railway terminus in the world that…read moreis still in its original location and is a grade 1 listed building. It rather dominates the landscape around Millennium Point and whilst it was a functioning station up until the 1960s, it has remained pretty much vacant in recent years. Thankfully unlike other buildings in the area - including a couple of old pubs - it looks in pretty good repair and is still currently owned by the Council. It's possible that with the advent of High Speed 2 that the station may be restored or incorporated in much the same, sympathetic way as Moor Street (which is just down the road). Either way this is a nice building to admire - perhaps as you navigate the (infinitely less attractive looking) road system nearby.

Let's get the bad out the way. There is no parking, so it's a busted flush as a park-and-ride…read moreoption for commuters, with Blake Street and Four Oaks - either side of Butlers Lane - a better bet. For what it's worth, though, it is perhaps the nicest station on the Cross-City line which links Lichfield to Birmingham. There are blooms along both platforms and also inside the ticket office during the summer, with the roomy ticket office proving a real benefit in winter. Both platforms are exposed although each has a shelter about halfway down. Ramps, both of which are quite steep, work as the entrances from, and exits to, street level. There are no lifts. The staff are extremely polite and helpful. One thing to bear in mind is that it's the stop used by students of a neighbouring secondary school. You may want to think twice about using it before 9 or again from 3pm. Another issue is that if Four Oaks station has ever seemed just that bit too far from the shops and bars of Mere Green, Butlers Lane is no different. Mere Green is equidistant from both stations. Butlers Lane, however, is a good bet for visiting nearby pub Butlers Arms. It's well worth a look: search for it on Yelp.

Since the shortening of the 79 route, the 126 is now not just the quickest direct bus between Brum…read moreand Wolves, it's the only direct bus between the two cities. That's not saying much though as even on a quiet Sunday night the journey will take you an hour or more. In theory, the route doesn't sound that painful. From town it runs up the Hagley Road, down the Wolverhampton Road and then joins the Birmingham New Road all the way up to Wolverhampton, diverting off only to stop at Dudley bus station. It's the sort of journey where once you've done it a few times, it doesn't seem quite as painful. If you need to move between the two places though, the Metro takes half the time, whilst even a local train will only take 25 minutes. Poor transport links between Brum and Dudley being what they are, it's probably the best and most direct way to reach Dudley. The 120 diverts through Bearwood and Oldbury and is a horrible service anyway, whilst the 87 runs the traffic gauntlet that is the Dudley Road and then wanders around a few side-streets in Smethwick too.
