WARNING about CITIBANK on Main Street in Bridgeport, CT…read more I'm sharing this out of frustration and desperation, hoping someone can offer guidance or has experienced something similar. On November 4, 2024, I deposited my IRS refund check at Citibank (Main St., Bridgeport, CT). Instead of crediting my account, the bank kept the check, later telling me my account was "inactive." They have refused to return my refund or release the funds -- even though the IRS has provided proof that the check was cashed. Since then, I have made multiple in-person visits to the branch, filed formal complaints with: Citibank Customer Service & Banking Manager Citibank Fraud Dept Citibank Executive Response Team (Office Analyst) CFPB (Consumer Financial Protection Bureau) State of Connecticut Comptroller's Office Local news station Channel 12 (no response) Contacted several Attorney's (directed me to contact CT Consumer Board) Yet Citibank continues to give me the runaround, passing me from one person to another with no resolution. It's now over 6 months, and this has left me in a financial hardship through no fault of my own. I've exhausted every effort I can think of. If anyone has experienced something similar or knows what else I can do, please comment or message me. Your help means more than you know. In addition they have two drive up windows to expedite service. The branch is always very clean and everyone is very nice and helpful. During these days obviously a mask is required for service.
