Chase Manhattan Valley is very busy certain times of the day. I rarely use Chase branches anymore unless it's very important. Mostly credit card issues. I'm sorry for individuals that are not tech savvy. I have the Chase App on my iPad and I use it for all my banking needs. They recently offered me free credit score and monitoring. The services Chase provides online are great. I feel safe knowing they are monitoring my spending and will notify me immediately if a charge is out of the ordinary for me. I recommend you find a way to stay away from the lines and do your banking with Chase online. read more

0 stars!! Absolute MADNESS. I withdrew $200 from the ATM. A $100 bill felt very soft so I came into the Branch. The long story, short, is the bill is counterfeit. They took the bill and said that I have to fill out forms, they have to call a back office God knows where, and The Branch Manager, "Roger" said I might be reimbursed after an investigation, no knowing when. What in the world?! They have been having trouble with their ATMs accepting counterfeit bills, and then dispensing them to unsuspecting customers. The branch worker said this happened to another woman this morning! She closed her account. I plan to do the same. read more

The Columbia University Branch is a dead loss. Even their Private Client Service is totally unprofessional. My account representative suddenly stopped responding to emails, and apparently left the Bank, or so I was told when I dropped in a few days later. BUT THEY NEVER REPLACED HER! Then when I called a few days later to set up a meeting with a rep to sort out setting up an "Estate Account", I couldn't get a meeting for a week!. Ridiculous. Unfortunately, this review is based on only one (and hopefully my last) visit. I came here to make a simple transaction - getting two rolls of quarters. I have a Chase checking account, so I figured that I could use my debit card to take out $20, and the teller would give me two rolls of quarters. Yeah, it did not happen like that. I was told that it would be easier for me to go to the ATM in the lobby, withdraw the twenty bucks, then have her give me the rolls of quarters. Of course after I made the withdrawal from the ATM, six people were ahead of me in line. Oh there was only one teller during my visit. Basically, a simple transaction of breaking a 20 dollar bill into two rolls of quarters took about 45 minutes. read more

At this branch you really need to have better customer service there. I wanted on line for 25 minutes on this Friday December 22 you only have 2 tellers working at noon and there is 15 people on the line and not once did anyone else from the bank come out to the line to assist to see if we could do things at the atm machines. When I finally get to the window this teller had a attitude. Not good service to start with. So as I about to make my withdraw I indicated I needed a break down of at least five $50 bills so I can tip for the holiday for people in my apartment building. The teller then stated go to another branch and try but she said it with such a attitude we have no more $50 bills. Im trying to understand a bank and a bank like Chase has no $50 bills. I didn't do the transaction at the bank. Then as I'm leaving a employee from the door says to me have a good day and holiday but as your doing this you are on your cellphone looking down. Hint to the employee of Chase not very good customer service. So i got on my phone outside in front of the bank to tell my Aunt the situation. A lady walked out that was on the same line with me to state that her teller gave her $50 bills for her banking transaction. So my question to myself was why was this woman given $50 bills for her banking needs? Was it because this was a woman of a certain race (white) and my race (black) was treated differently? I need to know Chase is this the way you treat your customers who have banked with you for over 15+years? Maybe it's time to look at another Bank like Wells Fargo. Probably the worst bank branch I've ever dealt with! This am I went to the bank to deposit a check that will not clear an ATM. This branch has 3 windows but the only 2 windows that are ever open have only 1 with a working pin pad and 1 with a broken pin pad which requires at least 1 or maybe 2 IDs. My ID is my password which I'm not carrying with me just because there pin pad has been broken for at least 2 months! Why don't they A. Keep the 2 windows open that have working pin pads or B fix the pin pad that's been broken for at least two months! The guy at the window with the broken pin pad said the other teller at the empty 3rd window was busy ( no teller was there while I was at the bank) . Also Chase has had reduced "temporary hours" for maybe 3 years as it says on the window on every bank. Either resume regular hours or stop saying they are 'temporary'! The best solution is to quit Chase and try Bank of America. And also get rid of the rude teller with the broken pin pad!!! read more

Okay, I have to be fair and post an update to my first review in which I roundly condemned Chase for their heinous ways. Once I'd been with them for a few months, they no longer placed a hold on my funds and they are generally available immediately. I also like that all Duane Reades (meaning anyplace you swing a dead cat in Manhattan) feature Chase ATMs. If you must have a bank account in NYC, Chase is certainly convenient. read more

The branch "Assisant manager" who is a racist needs to be reevaluated along with the branch manager. I clearly took in a personal check written from my roommate which the check says it's for rent. They was About to cash it until Kerri decides to tell me to come to her window so she can make my life harder. She wants to verify it. She does she ask 20 questions so she can make sure the person she's calling while they're at work life harder as well. She couldn't tell her one answer because she needed to sign in and find out so after everything they did for 45 minutes just to tell me they need to verify it again. Been here 3 times today for a notary. Been sitting almost an hour this last try, but I need something notarized ASAP. This is not the first time I have been here. I had one nice banker walk me over from the other branch to get something notarized here. He gets a 5 star rating. But usually, this place is slow as molasses. All I want is something notarized!!!! The same bankers keep asking, "oh, you're waiting for a notary?" Next time, I will find another place, even if this one is up the block. Sooo, I had plenty of time to write a review.
