I did business here a few times for work. Wait times were typical for a bank. I got convenience checks one time and had no issues. When my mom passed away I needed to close her account. The guy who I spoke to seemed put out by my presence. I had to wait 40 some odd days to close her accounts, their rules not mine. When the time came I went to the Monterey branch and dealt with the sweetest guy. Under the circumstances this branch could have been more compassionate. read more

This location can get pretty busy in the afternoon so if you're in a rush, come earlier in the day. The bank manager is friendly and helpful and I've always had pleasant exchanges with the tellers. I wish it were easier to make an appointment with a banker that wasn't booked out a week+. Other than that, no major complaints with this branch. read more

My mom and I have had to go in four times recently to talk to a banker to get our names on my dad's safety deposit box. He passed away and we have provided them all the documentation they need yet we still are having to come back and go through this never ending process. First time we went the banker told us we just needed to bring in the keys and a certified copy of the death certificate. Okay, second time...we did just what he told us but saw another banker who said "now you just have to finish the waiting period and you'll have access." Go in a third time. Once again a different banker. This one says "now that the waiting period is done fill out this small estate document and get it notarized." Okay, did that. Fourth time going in we meet Nicole. She looks in the system and finds that whoever scanned in my dad's copy of the death certificate did not enter information correctly so I had to rush home real quick after waiting an hour and 15 mins to go get a copy. (Should have just had one on me just in case). Before I left to get the copy though Nicole called to see if there was anyway she could override the errors and give us access. Unfortunately that did not work, but she was very thorough and made sure she was giving us the correct answer to things. We give her the copy, she tells us instead of having to come in again to see if things are ready how about she call us so when everything is processed and goes through. She took down our number, added it to her calendar, and apologized that we have been having to come in so much. I appreciated that she offered to call us when things are ready so when we go in we don't have to wait a long time just to hear it is not ready yet. She was super nice and helpful but unfortunately never called back. When someone goes in for something like this I think all bankers should be on the same page and if they do not know the answer to something or if there is an error they should do what Nicole did and call to make sure we don't have to keep coming back. Just tell us ALL the steps we need to do to transfer over the box. Don't have us come back all the time just to have more and more steps created in the process. I feel like this bank needs to be more cohesive. Sometimes I get a sales pitch focus vibe from this bank, which I understand that is part of their job, but I'd rather have them know what to do for safety deposit boxes instead of tell me about the benefits about their cards. We ended up closing out the box and taking our items elsewhere after a total of 6+ visits for the same issue. read more

this location has no sense of urgency the branch manager seems slower then slow the two poor tellers work at their own pace there is no customer service the line is always out the door and they will sit there and conversate with clients about none banking issues while there is 12 people in line. we waited nearly 32 minutes before we could be seen at the teller line and there were about 7 more people behind me. the branch manager doesn't seem to care for any of the clients he is living in his own world i never caught his name but i heard he was new he is a tall white male never once came to check the line to see if he could assist anyone at the atm or see if there were anything he could do to please anyone he was like on his phone standing in a banker cubicle. tellers would consistently have to walk out off their teller side to walk to the manager (photo included where there is NO TELLER at the window) to ask a question for them to have to wait since he was on his cell phone. this branch is a mess CHASE needs to get it together hire new people including the branch manager. Hire someone from Wells Fargo where they know sense of urgency to assist clients in a timely manner. read more

Chase has a notice in their terms and conditions that says you will not receive an overdraft fee if the overdraft is less than $5 and if it is more than $5 you've got until 8pm that business day to reconcile the overdraft and you won't incur a fee. Twice I was charged a $39 overdraft fee even tho each transaction was only $1.99 and $0.99 and three times I was charged a $39 overdraft fee even tho I reconciled the overdraft an hour after it occurred and wellll before 8pm est. Each time I pointed this out to a banker at the Chase branch in marina they agreed with me but told me their system would not allow them to reverse the fee even tho it was Chase error and that corporate would have to. I called corporate and went through entire situation all over again and they informed me they would not be reversing the fees. Save your money. Don't trust your money with crooks like Chase. read more

THE STAFF IS SO NICE! Me and my boyfriend both bank there and go a few times a week. The staff knows us and always talks to us person-ably. They never seem like you are inconveniencing them or a burden to them. They always smile. When I opened my account, the young man helping me was helpful and explained everything in great detail but so that it was easy to understand. Free coffee always a plus. If you need to sit with someone you sign in and they get to you quickly. Staff often remembers the names of their regular clients and will go out of their way to help them when they come in. You know the feeling you get when you walk into a bank and you are just dreading the long lines and long wait? Well not here. They are fairly fast even when you have to talk to a rep. I've been in here for several reasons and even their ATM lines are fast. I believe they have heightened their security system due to some unforeseen mishaps but all is well now. I am fairly satisfied with this bank. I guess this is as close as you can get to ideal? I'm not sure that banks can ever be ideal. read more

Just an update... This is the best bank in the area or one of the best. The Chase and Wells Fargo banks in Salinas are horribly understaffed and wait times are awful!!! Friendly neighborhood Chase... walked in, deposited money and out within a couple minutes. No lines and they even have a drive thru!

This bank is always busy but they always meet my expectations and help me with whatever i have needed.

She helped me with my issue right away and went above and beyond in every aspect of my visit I have some unauthorized charges on my account and she got to the bottom of it very quickly and made my son and myself feel very comfortable and treated us with the upmost respect. People at this Chase are very friendly and seem to remember the regulars. With direct deposit I stopped going in, but with my new nanny job I have started going in a few times a month. There is rarely a wait and I am always greeted with a smile and a small talk about the weather, weekend, ect.
