Banking is an essential service and Citi has been a big disappointment in the way they mishandled my company's PPP and continue to remain shuttered while the rest of hard working Long Islanders strive to serve their communities. UPDATE: Aug 11 - Greenlawn branch STILL closed! Every other bank and business in neighborhood is open and serving the community, but Citi is above it all. BTW: Wrote 4 letters & emails back in March to Citi regarding the mishandling of my PPP application and STILL NO RESPONSE! UPDATE #2: Aug. 26, 2020: Branch STILL closed - with no info posted on its reopening. Two days ago I was able to go back to my closed for 5 month gym in Northport - BUT Citibank still cannot reopen this local branch. Apparently now GYMS are safer than banks for Covid transmissions. It's now down to seeing whether movie theatres will reopen before Greenlawn Citibank - the only 2 enterprises still shuttered. UPDATE #3: Sept. 09, 2020. Branch remains closed - Citi corporate office unable to answer when or IF it will ever reopen. Sad decline for a once leader in banking.

I was with them since they were still Astoria Federal - as Astoria Federal they were a good bank -…read morewith the exception of one very annoying pushy teller who wouldn't take no on the insurance garbage she was trying to shove on me. When they changed over to just Astoria bank the quality died out. The constant charges on my account from them was ridiculous. And once they switched over to Sterling National Bank the charges got even worse - plus the representatives became complete morons when you called for anything. Back in March I callee to close my account, thanks to all the constant charges I went from $176 in my account down to $8.79 in a matter of months. After bring placed on hold for an our a rep finally answered, took forever to figure out how to close my account, but once she did she told me I would receive a check within 7-10 business days for the remaining $8.79 in my account. I never got the check, but I didn't really even think much about it. I did keep getting mail from sterling but didn't pay any attention to it - today I just happened to open one of them, and it turned out to be a statement - as if I never closed my account, and due to all these fees, there's now an overdraft on the account of $3.82. No way am I paying this for their representatives screw up - they still owe me money. And I have now been on the phone on hold 51 minutes waiting for another one of their reps to respond. Update: so after 56 minutes on hold, I finally got a rep who explained the person I spoke with originally gave me all the wrong information. They apparently never close accounts over the phone & never send checks through the mail for closed accounts. After putting me on hold again for 15 minutes she told me after speaking to her supervisor she would have to call me back after they pulled the recordings from when I originally called. She promised to cal me back "well before 6pm" of that same day (it was almost 4pm at the time), that was 2 days ago. No returned phone call from her or anyone else from this horrible bank. Sterling/Astoria is god awful. Never do business with them!

I went to teller who said I had to see banker. I should have gone to banker first as there was one available when I entered. Bad move by me. As I waited for 5 then 15 to 25 minutes when banker passed us to get paperwork for client she was helping -I politely asked "I just need to get paper signed by wife." She showing minimal interest said she was going to be a few more minutes-it actually took 30 more minutes. In the interim other patrons came and went-one family notices our frustration And said they were going to CHASE. DONT BELIEVE ME CHECK THE VIDEO TAPE! Finally our turn! Yeah.... banker says "I need to get forms!" Never once said "Sorry for the wait" or anything cordial! As she goes to get forms she begins to help the other people who were waiting 15-20 minutes after us. When she didn't return immediately I walked over to where she was helping others and bringing them into an employees only office; I gave her a look like ARE YOU SERIOUS! I never said a thing! But her lack of courteousness was something I've never encountered at Citi -Thank g-d we are priority customers I would hate to think how long I would have had to wait if I weren't! Bottom line Mr W. If you are a bank and open on Saturdays please have the sense to staff more people and. No one should have to wait 1 hour for a 3 minute task! I've been a customer since 1984 2018 most likelywill end a 34 year run..... SOMEONE OBVIOUSLY READ OF MY DISPLEASURE-went in last week and was treated excellently WHY ? Because there were 4 people working the services dept- and it didn't seem as if anyone was having a bad day-despite the fact that the woman who didn't help last time was there- People have bad days but NEVER take it out on your clients. I'm still at Citibank everyone deserves a second chance!
