I worked in a bank for 7 years and the importance of good customer service was drilled into our heads. It really irks me when I do not receive it, esp at a bank. Be nice to your customers, smile, ask them how they are, then ask them if there is anything else you can help them with, then thank them and tell them to have a great day! Since it was friday I did expect a bit of a crowd in trying to schedule an immediate appointment to…read moreopen a joint account with my wife. We moved to Cliffside Park days prior and as expected on this notoriously busy banking day, we found ourselves roamung about several BofA offices to accomplish our long overdue aims for better organizational treasury. As such, and well into the game by then, in an attempt to spur on some sort of momentous hailmary moment, we popped by the blue joint to change thing up. (Thats Chace bank btw.) But, as we sat waiting for an "accounts" savant to take us we noticed a young lady steering all the mondaine business visitors to a large grey box like machine thing doodad that was placed in front of where the tellers desks were. These had been corded as off-limit obviously, and there wasn't a cashiers in sight as this grotesque automated contraption went on conducting the business previously performed by the now superfluous humans that must have been using up too much of the room's oxygen or something... Anyhow, that was enough to convinces us of our own superfluous business. So we super-fluidly skipped our super-flawed humanoid selves out'a there superduper fast. In the end we traveled all the way to Montvale. That's some 20 miles north for those who aren't geographically initiated to the region. In our desperation my wife mentioned her being well taken care of there, so we figured it's worth a visit if we can get this thing done once and for all. Quite to (her) expectations, (my) gratification and (both our) most gracious satisfaction, the Bank of America services there were of the absolute highest order. The staff were extremely courteous throughout. From the gentleman who greeted us to the tellers and other personnel we interacted with, they were kind, informative, reassuring and tons of other pleasant and heart warming adjectives! Granted, our gloomy looks of disheveledment may have hinted at our emotional states of tatteredness ad we arrived. But beleive it or not, just 40 minutes later and all was well again! To crown the by then already uplifting experience, the agent my wife had positively mentioned to me "Glen", was not only soon available but both meeting my hightened expectations of his aforementioned helpfulness but cleanly surpassing them with his above and beyond manner of professionalism! In brief, four thumbs to you all!

Forget what you know about drab, boring banks with disinterested employees, because this bank is none of those things. Even the lighting is cheery and the entire atmosphere is very welcoming and nice. But again, the true heroes are the people behind the counter and at the desks. I've never had a bad experience here, and I can't imagine that I ever will.

6/2022  I would think twice about the Ridgewood branch. The workers are poorly trained. The…read moremanager's action is not customer centric. There are better managed retail banks in Bergen Co. Unfortunately, retail businesses which are not customer centric tend to die. What's the problem? I needed to purchase foreign currency. I spoke to a branch employee on the telephone with questions about foreign currency. During the conversation I asked him when the branch closes - he said 5.  I drove 45 min to the branch and arrived at 430 only to learn the cut off for foreign currency is at 3 and they cannot place an order for the next business day, so I had to come back tomorrow. When I asked the employee why he didn't tell me the cut off was at 3 -  I only got dumb looks. When I asked him how would someone who doesn't work at Capital One know this if you don't say something - I got more dumb looks. The above is bad & I will blame the bad combination of a minimum wage employee who was poorly trained. Above are the symptoms, now let's talk about the disease of incompetent management. I tried to contact the branch manager twice by email and was blown off. Only when I called the 800# to ask to speak with the regional VP did I get a call back from the manager. She did not take responsibility for her employees. She did not offer to cover my mileage to her bank. She didn't even apologize for Capital One wasting my time.  Absolutely no ownership of her team's error. Apparently it must be my fault for choosing to do business with her branch. Don't make the same error. Find someone who wants to build a long term banking relationship with you. Unfortunately that's not what Capital One in Ridgewood does.

Once again I cannot speak highly enough of the Affinity Credit Union in Bardonia, New York. What bank do you that calls to check on it's customers? This positive message was both reassuring and uplifting to know that banking with the Affinity Credit Union is certainly the way to go!
