I'm a 15 year customer of U.S. Bank, currently with around 10 active checking and savings accounts,…read moreand I can tell you US Bank has declined in every way possible in the last 5 years. Im actually came to this site not to post a review but looking for a new bank to consider as I'm concerned my funds are not safe at this bank. We have had SO many issues with US Bank in the last five years (0 prior to that,) some shocking to me as a former bank employee who understands the back office operations of how funds are moved and documented. US Bank has actually lost some of our money, claiming funds were sent to pay a check that we did write and want paid, but the other bank claims they did not receive the funds and that US Bank told them insufficient funds, which is not even close to possible. US Bank adamantly denies the other banks claim which made sense BUT US Bank refused to work with the other bank to resolve this claiming non customer facing employees did that and the employees I was working with refused to work with the non customer facing employees. It was a disaster that I wasted months and many many many calls on. Sadly, we were just out the money and had to double pay for that item, $350.00 became $700 due to an error in the banking system that they wouldn't even address for us and we simply didn't have the ability to address. Then, a few weeks ago, my college aged son deposited close to $1000 cash into the atm. The atm froze up during the transaction and it did not deposit the funds into his account. We were told someone else managed the ATM and he would have to wait for that company to clean out the ATM (this can take up to a week but he got lucky and they would eb there the following day) and then give the funds to the branch who then would review amounts (basic accounting procedures) and submit a ticket to "another department" who would then place the funds in the account. We were told a maximum of 10 business days but that it never takes more than a few days. 8 days later I had to make a call to a manager 2.5 hours away from our branch to get the funds deposited. Keep in mind, the cash was in the banks hand, literally the same branch we deposited it at, the following day but the branch claimed they could not credit it to the account and would not work him or myself at all. The manager call came after I called to check in and see that everything was in order and the same person that gave us a 10 day maximum previously changed that to 15 business days. 3 weeks with cash in hand seemed absurd to me so requested a manager only to find out one didn't exist. That employee and one whom I spoke with previously told me they had no manager and no one I could speak with as their current manager was....a non customer facing employee.... After asking 5 different ways, I was given the number for a bank manager 2.5 hours away, I left a voicemail and the issue was solved by 8:30 am the following day. I should not have to escalate issues within my bank, they should simply want to do the right thing at the branch level or customer service level. Sadly, that has not been the case lately. As I'm handling that issue, I realize someone opened a new debit card without my permission. When I called they had no knowledge of who or when the card was ordered but claimed it was sent to my address. A card has never showed up and they have zero explanation as to whom or how it was ordered. I spoke with two representatives because I was concerned someone unauthorized had access to my accounts, I had a fraud alert on my accounts as someone in the Bronx has stolen my identity and its reported at a federal level with the FBI. Unfortunately , as usual neither rep could give me ANY information or cared that a random card was sent out to access my accounts and it wasn't requested by me. Their customer service is dismal and they claim they can't help in most cases due to their rules and regulations with in the company, including when funds are missing from someone's account. I forgot to mention they have closed many locations and claim that it's due to online banking being the future. Most of the employees are now extremely young kids, with zero guidance, who do not understand the bank process or have any sense of responsibility for a task they are handling. I was disappointed years ago when they raised all of their interest rates and we started getting loans elsewhere because I love all my accounts at one bank but knowing my money isn't safe is not a comfortable feeling and definitely has pushed me past disappointment to a lack of trust. I 100% do not recommend US Bank.
