Ordered sympathy dish garden online; had lost a really close personal friend, unofficial family member. Realized days later that the florist had left a message on my phone to call. Called. Florist thought I was calling about another order and told me they could not send a decent dish garden at advertised price. Realized his error, then told me he couldn't find a slip so he was sure it must have gone. Guess what? It was never sent. I was not charged but that's not the point!! My family lives in California, and my Grandma passed away this week. In our grief last night, we placed an online order for a casket flower arrangement at Char's Flower Shoppe in Rhode Island instead of the flower shop of the same name in our area. First thing this morning, my Mom got a phone call from Charlie at the Rhode Island location letting her know about the mix up, and reminding her to call the other shop ASAP so that my Grandma would have her flowers. I just got back from ordering 3 individual single stem flowers for my 3 daughters for Mother's Day. The sales lady very nice, so helpful. BUT the other florist (male) that was working on a bouquet butted in to our conversation was SO rude. I asked her what colors of flowers do you have? She said many colors. The male florist butts in and tells me, "You shouldn't be so picky on choosing a flower color, since it's for Mother's Day we are really busy." I was shocked! I turned around and told him, " I know your extremely busy, but SHE is the one helping ME, so are we on the right page?? " I was furious!! The ONLY reason I bought them is because of the sales lady. If I could give this less than a star, I would. This place is horrible! I ordered a huge arrangement and was very specific about what I wanted in it with many extras. What I got was pathetic and nothing near what I wanted. He sent a basic dish garden with not ONE of the extras I requested and paid for. He didn't even put a bow on it! I have to come to the rescue of this flower shop that I have been using for years. There a couple of reviews that comment on the order that they placed did not at all look like the actual one they had ordered. This is the company policy below on substitutions. I know for a fact when substitutions are made you are getting much better quality than what was to be in the actual bouquet. As far as customer service it sounds like the customer was extremely upset when the woman tried to help and ask her what she would like the shop to do to rectify the problem the woman just decided to hang up. Maybe is she had to of answered the woman she would have received a new arrangement. every arrangement that i have ordered may not have been exactly what shows in the picture but i can tell you they last over 2 weeks now that's quality. one last comment i work with helium balloons daily they do tend to pop at times. Substitution Policy Occasionally, substitutions may be necessary to create your bouquet due to the availability of certain flowers in various parts of the country. Care is taken to maintain the style, theme and color scheme of the arrangement, using flowers of equal value. Additionally, the substitution of certain keepsake items may be necessary due to increased demand, especially during major holidays. Long Story Short: DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT CHARS FLOWERS... Full explanation: The arrangement came that my coworker and I ordered for our boss. We ordered from FromYouFlowers.com and they put this flower shop in charge of getting us the order. Well....the mylar balloon popped 3 minutes after it was delivered, the latex balloons didn't match the arrangement like we had ordered....and on top of that we called Char's Flowers and the older woman who answered was acting appalled that we were upset. Seriously? We deal with customer service tasks on a daily basis and would never speak to our customers the way the woman on the phone was speaking with us. She kept repeating "and so what would you like me to do about it honey" "what would you like me to do about it sweetie?" I hung up the phone. read more

Do not bother with this florist. I ordered flowers for a friend via a third party company FromYouFlowers.com. The bouquet didn't match what I had purchased and I reached out to the third party company. They advised me that they would send out the bouquet that I had ordered. Charlie from Chars Flower called my friend directly and asked her what she didn't like about the bouquet. He was completely unprofessional and he should have called me directly, if he had questions. read more

Ordered a bouquet from 1800flowers, unfortunately they picked Char's flower shoppe to fulfill the order. They contacted me the day of to ask if I would pick a different flower arrangement since they didn't have the flowers to make up the arrangement. After picking something else the arrangement arrived but still wasn't what was pictured online. I ordered the "large" which pictured 6 lilies but it only came with 3. They also substituted key flowers in the arrangement for less expensive flowers. Save yourself the trouble. read more

I wouldn't even give it ONE STAR. My birthday bouquet sent from CA friend was delivered when I wasn't home. But to make it worse, the bouquet was left on my front step in the broiling August sun! When I got home, the water inside the vase was HOT!! I tried calling the number left on the card at 3:45 PM and there was no one answering the phone! My friend would be appalled to know how her flowers were delivered and the quality, but I could not tell her since she was about to undergo a very serious operation. Will never use again! I ordered flowers for my Mother-in-Law's funeral on Tue. for a Thurs. funeral. His assistant waited on me. I said I would get back to them about a second arrangement from the grandchildren. First thing Wed morning 9am I went back and ordered the second arrangement from the owner himself. Thursday morning on the way to the funeral I get a call that the flowers have not arrived. My son stop by on his way to the funeral. They think it is a Friday Funeral. Not once did either person double check to confirm the date. They are dealing with bereaved customers who are stressed to the max trying to make all kinds of arrangements. I don't believe I said Fri. since I knew it was Thur. In any case they should of checked and confirmed. He threw together arrangements while my son waited. My son brought them to the service. So the calling hours were disrupted 1/2 way through while flowers are arranged. When I went back to the store to discuss the matter he was nothing but attitude. No apology or concern. He did not give me any adjustment to the price. I had to ask for the delivery charge back and he practically threw it on the counter. He didn't even hand it to me. He was all, "So what, not my problem the order said Friday". He even told me when an order comes in over the wire he calls the funeral home to confirm.
