There's nothing special about this ice cream except they have a brilliant marketer or company. Very cool cow driven decor & promo items.

This was a planned stop for me while in Charlottetown (I was on a trail of Canadian coffee!) and I'm glad I made it. On my first of two visits, there seemed to be a lot of cruise ship passengers, just relaxing from traipsing through Charlottetown, a really fun place to spend time. On an early spring day, the cafe mocha was welcome and the sunny seats outside were clean and comfortable. Second visit a week later, the same delicious drinks, sandwiches, breakfast plates, acai bowls and a short kids menu from which I ordered a "baby bun". Ham, cheese, sourdough? Wasted on kids, it was yum! It's rustic and welcoming, the customer service was pretty good considering all the tourists alongside me, no doubt taxing the baristas' patience! If you find yourself in Charlottetown, make it a stop to relax and recharge with a drink and a snack!

Pros? Lots more flavours to choose from!! Among the four of us, we shared three cups of double scoops. Since you pay only $1 more for an extra scoop, it's very much worth it to share (instead of ordering another single scoop)! We decided to experiment and try new flavours. My sister got the Cookie Moonster again, as she really enjoyed it the last time. She also got the Moo York Cheesecake, but I felt that this flavour wasn't as good. There wasn't a prominent cheesecake flavour, and the taste really just blended with the cookie moonster. My parents shared the Cowconut (my mom's favourite; I found it a bit too overwhelming) and the Maple Walnut (it had quite a strong maple taste, but there were impressive chunks of walnut pieces in the ice cream). I opted for the vanilla - plain and simple, but the best! I also got the PEI Blueberry. We had sampled both the Apple Crisp and the Blueberry... I preferred the Apple Crisp more, but my dad found the caramel bits to be too sweet, so we got the Blueberry. Between the strawberry and blueberry, however, I do prefer the strawberry, so I'm glad I listened to the server the last time at Milky Way!

So we ended up at the one on the waterfront. It has been so hyped up and we maybe had our expectations higher than we should. The place is cute, the names of the ice cream are also creative and cute. But the ice cream was okay. Not great, not the best I have had and for the price we were disappointed. Mr. Bee had the Messy Bessy which was chocolate with caramel. I had the Nainamoo Bar flavor. We have had Nainamo Bars and Martini's in Nainamo and they are amazing. The ice cream not so much, tasted nothing like a Nainamo Bar, no peanut butter and honestly was bland. The service was fine. There was no line. The views from the picnic tables is great. I wouldn't go again if we were in the area.

There's a reason they have a line winding out the door. I also loved their flavor offerings ranging from maple and walnut and NY cheesecake to coconut cream pie and apple crisp. You can't beat the views of the water and dock while chowing down on freshly scooped ice cream. The ice cream shop also features a small gift shop with items like waffle cone candles and cow pajamas. We strolled down through the beautiful gardens to the restaurant perched on the riverbanks. The restaurant does not optimize for volume or turnover and we had a 45 minute wait. We enjoyed the adjoining shop and their selection of jams and spread. The wait was worth it! The room is a bright large room overlooking the river. Handmade quilts hang from the ceiling. We started with nachos, that had the right blend of cheese and toppings. Unfortunately there were no side plates brought, causing us to eat like animals from a common trough. A slight mishap with a spilled glass of water interrupted our otherwise pleasant appetizer. The server's attention was less than prompt causing us to get extra napkins from directly behind the counter. Still, we soldiered on and prepared for the main feast. The seafood chowder was one of the better ones all trip. Fresh and flavourful pieces in a cream broth, served with a fresh side biscuit. The real opportunity is to highlight the delicious jams and spreads from the shop which would add some much needed flavour to the biscuits. Other meals included kids pasta, kids jam sandwich, a club sandwich, fish cakes and a Caesar salad. All were promptly devoured. A great location with fresh food and pleasant service. Worth the wait!
