THIS IS A WARNING FOR ALL OF YOU LADIES WITH CHILD ! My wife and daughters have been part of this group for years and Kathy Shields has been our angel for all of that time. We love and care for her greatly. The practice has been fantastic as well. This year, our daughter is with twins and at approx 32 weeks , she was in distress. She called for some direction and a nurse2 named " Paisley " was not only somewhat rude to a pregnant woman in distress but appeared to be new or lacking knowledge. She directed her to Primary care. When she arrived at the primary care in Denver NC, they were so very kind but perplexed as to why she was sent there. They examined her and recommended to check with the OBGYN. Paisley again said no, so my daughter called CMC and they got her back right away. They did their thing in checking her out and found one of the children's heart rate would dip and come back. This happened several times. The doctor, whoever she is, should get an award, but I am sure, God will reward her, for she said for those babies to come out right away. It is an answer to our prayers for comfort and relief for our daughter and child because the placenta detached from the mother (happens in only 1% of people). Surely, the child would have not made it. Happy we went to CMC yet we are so sad and somewhat let down, that someone like Paisley is giving instructions to folks who are in jeopardy. Wake up Paisley. Seek wisdom, knowledge, ask for a mentor and maybe some phone side manner. We do not hate you, but we hope you get what you need to help expecting mothers and do not waste time because there may not be enough time, as it almost was here. PS, We know, not thought , that this should be reviewed by the people who look into these neglects of duty and of course, like the rest of the world, they ok'd how Paisley handled this and we know this to be FALSE. I've been going to this location and using the same doctor for several years. I've been really happy with my doctor, Dr. Secrest. She always listens to my concerns and is caring and kind. She has gone out of her way to ensure that I am comfortable during my visits. All of the staff is extremely friendly and they will address all of your concerns. The office is well kept and clean. I highly suggest Dr. Secrest as your OB/GYN at Charlotte. read more

Dr. Pixley asked my boyfriend if I would be getting a tubal (never discussed) as they were knocking me out with morphine during my section. I was 22. When I was 14 I had a partial abruption and pulled half of my placenta out of my body on the toilet the day after bc they never checked. They did not note or probably believe that I can't be numbed so they literally tortured me with several LEEP and colposcopy procedures before just throwing up their hands and not caring that I had precancerous cells and hpv. Blamed the birth control implant in my arm for my vaginal pain even though it was put in several years after I started telling them about it. At 14 in my first ever exam Kathy Shields told me it'd be easier if I was "a little excited" before she put her hand in. They mixed up my medical record bc I switched from cmc to presby. I trusted them bc I started going so early and I didn't know any better. Now you do. Go anywhere else. read more

Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Promised a call back from managers in billing twice and both times never got a call back. Called multiple times to confirm a price for a procedure and after telling us it was one price and we did it they then billed us triple the amount. I highly recommend staying away from this place and finding a company with some integrity. read more

I have been going to this location for over 10 years and have overall been happy with everything. The staff is extremely friendly and handles all visits thoroughly. This year my Primary doctor was unavailable so I was able to see Kathy Shields, for my annual exam. Kathy was wonderful! As others mentioned, Kathy made me feel extremely comfortable with her, she asked a lot of questions and answered all of mine. We talked for 20 minutes prior to the exam which made the entire process go very smoothly. I will definitely make sure I see her next time, when my doctor is unavailable. One disappointing thing I remember each year is you cannot schedule your next year's appointment when leaving. It appears their systems only allow 2-3 months out of appointments. Not sure why since everything other doctor I see I am able to schedule a six-month and/or 12-month appointment when leaving. They do however send a reminder email and/or phone call three months prior to your annual exam to allow you to reschedule. However, based on the fact people make appointments it is very hard getting in when you can, with that late of notice. read more

Though there are some great providers here, the practice is awful. I had an issue feeling unsafe with one provider and the practice handled the issue so poorly when I asked for help or a solution. They made my pregnancy so stressful, including a doctor arguing with me during delivery about sending in the midwife I was highly uncomfortable with. Then at push time, after switching my care away from the practice to avoid delivering with the midwife in question , they still sent in the midwife I was scared of to tell me I was wrong and try to convince me to let her deliver anyway. (Despite a few excellent midwives) the practice gave me months of stress, refusing to return phone calls, failing to offer a solution when I found out there was an easy one all along, and finally refusing to treat me for expressing my concern about feeling unsafe with one practitioner. I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. read more

I am writing this review about something that unfortunately happened last year, May 2021 but I have been hesitant to share my experience because it was so traumatic and insane to me. I went in for my first PP appointment after having BP issues and preeclampsia while being pregnant. This appoint was about 4 weeks after giving birth, I was in the heart of postpartum and just going through the motions. While at this appoint with Dr. Wicker, who I had seen many times during my pregnancy, his first question to me was do I want an IUD or what form of birth control I want. I said I'm going to be honest I am not even thinking of that right now it is the last thing on my mind. He then replied, well to be fair you don't exactly have to be awake to get pregnant. To which I replied, I am not concerned about that either. He then said ok you should get an IUD we will schedule that for a few weeks from now. Again, not listening to me, just making a rape joke and having zero concern about how I was currently doing. I had planned to bring up that I felt I was experiencing some postpartum depression and anxiety but after making me feel so uncomfortable I kept it to myself. It was not until my follow up appointment with another provider, Dr. Peckman that I felt comfortable enough to bring up the issues I was having with postpartum depression. I am thankful for Dr. Peckman for being so kind, open and understanding and asking me how I felt. That was all I needed, just someone to ask me and I felt I could finally say it out loud. What Dr. Wicker said to me was so beyond unprofessional I will never forget it. I hope he never says that to another woman. read more

Absolutely the worst customer service I have ever received. I had called them multiple times a day for over a week. They originally stated they were accepting new patients. Come to find out (a week and a half later) that they cannot accept new patients. Keep in mind I am pregnant so time is of the ESSENCE. They did not care. They told me my insurance was wrong and they were right even after I had sent the SIGNED documentation stating exactly what would be the payments throughout the pregnancy, etc. Jackie is unprofessional, and apparently is not in possession of a fax machine OR an email. It was her say against my insurance agency. She originally told me I was wrong and there was nothing she could do. THEN the next day she called and told me she found her error. No apology and no further help was offered. Erin the "office manager" was unreachable and less help than Jackie. Do not recommend and the fact they are "at capacity" blows my mind and is quite frankly unbelievable. If the customer service is any representation of the health care, I'm glad I have chosen to go somewhere else. YIKES! You will not get the help you need even after you ask for it numerous times! Run, don't waste your time! read more

I have mixed feelings about this practice. I was an OB patient and everything went well with my pregnancy. They did a good job delivering my baby boy. Nothing exceptional but solid. As for my after care it has been awful. I went to a postpartum visit and they said they needed to send in paperwork for my birth control. They said it would take 10 days to be approved. I waited 3 weeks and called back. The secretary said they were still waiting for the paperwork to go through the insurance. I waited 10 days. I called back and the nurse said the paperwork was never sent and she had no idea who I talked to the week before. She basically accused me of never calling. Then she got passive aggressive and said at least she took care of it. One month later?!? And I should be thankful? The also never sent in my leave paperwork. It took me a visit, 2 phone calls, and a week for them to take care of that. So like I said I am mixed. It was good patient care but the office secretaries and nurses are not as professional. It may just be a couple people but enough to make me consider switching. read more

I moved to Charlotte in 2004 and lucked out in finding Charlotte OB & GYN. Specifically in finding their nurse midwife, Kathy Shields. I just went to Kathy for an annual exam and wasn't expecting anything more than the uncomfortable get in and get out. But Kathy was fantastic. She sat and chatted with me for 20 minutes, just to get to know me. Whenever I came back, she would ask me about the stuff I mentioned in my first appointment, like my hobbies, and my boyfriend. I really felt like she care about me and she always made me feel very comfortable. Only Kathy could make me laugh and chat while I'm getting a gynecological exam. I had appointments with a couple other OB/GYN's when Kathy was busy and everyone was professional and caring. Even the clerical staff is sweet and friendly. I can't recommend this team enough! read more

Charlotte Ob/ Gyn has been my preferred Doctor's Office for over 15 years. The office I go to is at MCP. It is easy parking, easy to get to and the office is always very prompt. The employees are very professional and everyone always acts as if they are genuinely happy to see you, they greet you with a smile and are very helpful. They walk with you down the halls and treat you like a patient and not a chart number. My doctor is Dr. Hansen-Linder and I absolutely love her. She makes sure you understand any tests, etc. and takes her time and does not make you feel as if she is rushing you out of the door as soon as you get in. Going to the doctor is never fun but why not have the best experience possible and you will when you are here. Thank you Charlotte Ob/Gyn MCP for a job well done! read more

I delivered my son with them and was truly impressed with the level of care the midwives at Charlotte OB provided. As a first time mom they made sure all my questions were answered and made me feel as comfortable as possible during all visits and during the delivery. read more

WORST PRACTICE EVER!! I gave them the days I was available to come in for an ultrasound, which I was told a nurse must call me back to schedule, only to have 3 different nurses call me and leave me voicemails with different days. I called back with each voicemail reminding them of the days I was available due to my work schedule. Then I find out that I have made too many cancellations, even though it was not my error, so they sent me a certified letter discharging me from their practice. Following receipt of the letter, I spent several weeks trying to resolve the issue as I felt it was an honest misunderstanding since those cancellations were not my doing and I received multiple promises of a call back to no avail. When I finally did speak with someone, her overall attitude sucked and her response was to seek a local clinic for further care. Their system is flawed. If you need an ultrasound, A NURSE will call you back. In my case, multiple nurses called back. You are rotated through a system and whoever gets the message calls back. There is no personal attention. With my first appt, I waited over 2 hours to be seen. No apologies, no reason, no care for my time. The other issue is that they have a main number that rings to any of their multiple locations. I was never able to get the same person on the phone and there were some who lacked in compassion making an already frustrating experience even more so. If you are able to go elsewhere, do so. Run fast! This practice is terrible and needs a major overhaul of its staff and procedures. I wouldn't trust them with a chewed stick of gum! TERRIBLE TERRIBLE TERRIBLE!! read more

We love this practice! Their midwives, doctors and nurses are all patient and wonderful. Be prepared for your first visit to run long, but our visits after that were smooth and wonderful. Our ultrasound tech explained absolutely everything and our midwife stayed in the room and got to know us and gave us ample time to ask questions. So far we love it and we feel our baby will be in the best hands when s/he is born. read more

I became a patient of Charlotte OBGYN in late 2018 while pregnant with my first baby. The care at the routine prenatal check ups I received was good. However, I must post an extremely negative review because of the experience we are having with the billing department. We moved to another part of the state while I was pregnant, and transferred care to a new OBGYN. Charlotte OBGYN had required that we prepaid $1700 for all prenatal care at our first appointment. After we moved I called to have our balance refunded. We have been trying to have our money refunded since March. It has taken months of calls, everyone we speak to at the practice or at the billing department says we have a balance of over $1,000 due to us, but we cannot get our money back. We have called over 10 times, each time being told a different reason why we haven't been refunded yet and promising that if we call back in 10-14 business days we will be issued our refund. This has been stressful during the last trimester of my pregnancy, and unbelievably frustrating. It appears at this point we will have to take legal action to receive our money back. On the off chance that your situation or insurance changes while you are receiving care here expect to not be able to get your money back and be given the run around for months on end. read more

Impersonal and awful. This is my first pregnancy, and I will be switching doctors ASAP. They have lost test results, never know anything about me and I consistently wait a minimum of 30 minutes past my appointment time. read more

When I went for my visit in May, the visit went fine. Then I received the bill. I was charged almost $200 for a test that they did not tell or ask me about. I have been trying for the last 5 months to get this resolved. When I finally had someone call me back today, they explained that it was "standard proceedure" to run these tests but it "usually wasn't a big deal because most insurances pay." My main issue is that this test was run WITHOUT my knowledge. That is unethical - they are just trying to get more money from the insurance companies. Please do not go there and please tell the women you know to get informed about what tests are being performed. read more

Terrible experience - do not go here! They lost my test results which is a huge red flag. On top of that I experienced poor customer service in trying to get the issue resolved. The staff did not want to be bothered with talking to me - I was purposely transferred to voicemails and my online messages were even ignored. The fact that the doctors/nurses misplaced my test results is concerning and the customer service that I was shown on top of that is reason enough to not return to is office. I read another comment from another patient below that said that they lost her test results as well so it seems to be so etching that happens far to often in this office. read more

I would not recommend. I am a patient here and have been waiting now an hour and thirty minutes for my appointment. I have had to go back to the reception twice to ask about the status of my appointment and have been told I need to wait another 15 minutes to be seen, bringing the total wait time to an hour and 45 minutes. No one can be that inconvenienced for an appointment. read more

Had a billing question. Left message on 6/3/16. Never heard back. Called again 6/7/16. Never heard back. Called again 6/13/16 and was told I'd get a call in "48 business hours". Didn't. Called 6/22/16 and was told I'd get a call back "today or first thing in the morning". Didn't. Called 6/23/16 and after refusing to leave another message and demanding a face-to-face meeting with the practice manager, Tiffany Robinson, I was transferred to her. She was very apologetic and said they should never have such poor customer service. She gave me her direct number and said she would personally look in to my issue and I would hear from her in 7-10 business days (this was 6/23). Guess what? I didn't. I have since left her voicemails on 7/26, 8/1, 8/15 and 8/19. I am beyond frustrated and have never felt less valued as a patient. INFURIATING. I do NOT recommend this practice if you are looking for somewhere that would do something as simple as return a phone call. read more
