Charlies is a bar that welcomes all generations and appreciates all ethnicities and nationalities. A small homely environment just like a living room where you feel comfortable and welcome. The hospitality is sensational with a lively atmosphere, comfortable seating and a fantastic range of music that is recognised by all market segments. The staff is welcoming, relatable and friendly just like the other locals who spend there money in the place for good reason. The prices are very cheap and respectable considering what you actually get and receive whilst in the premises even though I was struck in what to chose as a result of the wide range of drinks (draught beer, spirits, shots, mixers and even cocktails and fish bowls!). Additionally to my point, on the sunday I attended the bar I tried one of charlies cocktails where I was pleasently surprised to the lashes of ice, garnish and refreshing taste that was put together from the stock. I was told by the general manager Charlie, that 'cocktails and fish bowls are something that I wanted to bring to canning town to attract more customers and it has worked'. I tried a cocktail called the 'cherry berry' which consisted of a red wkd, smirnoff ice, cherry sourz, apple sourz and lemonade all topped up with ice, garnish and was served in professional glass cocktail glasses with an umbrella. I can finely say that I felt like del boy! There is not a speck of dust in the premises and hygiene is at a very high standard; Charlie told me that 'cleanliness is very important and is a pub is not clean I would not expect anyone to come and spend'. The regulars made me feel very welcome and I had many laughs and personal discussions which was relevant and made me feel like part of the family. Charlie played music that took me back in to my day and as strangers walked in to experience the music they believed, just like me, that the bar is very successful and has potential to expand the premises and offer other sources of value such as food. Charlie was an inspirational manager who at the age of 16 is running the pub with his own ideas and is turning his back on the negativity in canning town and focusing on the positives, he is using this to make the best out of his family business. He has recently created an extended outside area known as the west ham bar which is painted claret and blue and is an area where locals can sit and experience the west ham theme which is portrayed excellently. I actually spent an hour of my day in the west ham bar, experiencing the brilliance even though I am a strong blackburn rovers fan! When I left at 6:30 I shook the hands to the management and took one last look at the fantastic displays which were constructed by Charlie which is incredibly special! Charlies is the place to be and Charlie is the one to watch, I look forward to my next visit to the 'wine bar' read more
