I have to agree with the other reviewer - Buyer's Agents are the ONLY way to go. We were considering moving to Charleston and were so lucky to find Chuck Stark at Real Buyer's. We were house hunting in Portland and had several bad experiences with brokers. Now we understand why - we thought they were representing us but they were really trying to represent both sides. Chuck was AMAZING! He helped us understand why his service was different and what we weren't getting from our other brokers. Chuck and I had tons of communication before our move - speaking many times over the phone and exchanging emails. He put a lot of prep work into our trip by reviewing our wish list, discussing his process with us and educating us about the Charleston market. Once we arrived in Charleston, we hit the ground running. Chuck helped us narrow down our neighborhood of choice with a tour of absolutely every nook and cranny of Mt. Pleasant. He was part agent & part tour guide. We drove by or saw every, and I mean EVERY, house that matched our criteria. We made an offer and once again, Chuck went to bat for us making sure we got the best possible deal and looking out for our interests, even when the seller wanted to take the curtain rods after we had a signed contract. His network of closing lawyers and mortgage lenders is deep - make sure you see Michelle Long at Homeowner's Mortgage - and that really is the icing on the cake. We eventually decided to stay in Portland but we will certainly miss the opportunity to work with Chuck. He's set the bar awfully high... read more

We were researching the area and were so fortunate to have found David Kent. What a very professional, competent and nice person. We're not sure if we'll to the area - but if we do - Mr. Kent is our guy. Any Californians considering a cross continent move - this is your guy. Thanks David for your expertise, hospitality and kindness. read more

We worked with David Kent and he was top notch! We were first time home buyers in a crazy market and he was there every step of the way. Knowledgeable, helpful and everything one could ask for in a buyer's agent. We highly recommended David and The Real Buyer's Agent! read more

David Kent is excellent and who you should use. He knows the area very well, knows the process very well, and is an expert negotiator. Extremely happy with his help in our home search. Wish we could give 7 stars instead of 5. If you are buying real estate, you need David Kent! read more

We highly recommend David Kent as a buyers agent. We moved 1300 miles from Omaha Nebraska to Summerville SC. I visited with David Kent several times by phone and email before we had hired him - he was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, patient, caring, and fun to visit with as a person. We built a new home beginning in March 2022 thru October 2022 - David was very helpful through the entire process - we were not able to be onsite being a long distance build due to timing, and other factors. He went out of his way to send us timely updates - and included several pictures of our home and the progress that was being made on each step - he personally lives quite a distance away - but still took the time to come review our home. He also advised on which inspections we should do through a third party to insure the building was correct. We also had about 4 video conferences with David as he walked us through our home virtually - it was very helpful and he made it fun ! We did not know anything about the Charleston SC area - and he informed us about various areas and things to see and do. We totally trust David Kent - he's an amazing person - and you are in good, caring, knowledgeable hands with him !! Thank you David ! Jerry & Chris Shriver read more

I am sharing this on behalf of my father, Brent Morehouse. My wife and I have used David Kent on two different transactions, and we have been well pleased with both experiences. In short, David ALWAYS works in the best interest of his clients. We are not from Charleston, and it was incredibly advantageous to have access to David's extensive knowledge of the Charleston market. The Charleston market is unique, so it is imperative to have an agent who knows the different elements of it. As a former general contractor, David is helpful in pointing out many details about the property you are looking to purchase. Our most recent transaction was larger than our first transaction, and we heavily relied on him to get us the information we needed. He has excellent contacts, and he brought us even more information than we asked for. In both of our experiences with him, he NEVER tried to influence our decision just to make a deal. And since our most recent deal closed, David continues to be a resource for us by answering any questions we have. We are firm believers in buyers' agents, and David is one of the best. If you have any questions about our experience with David, my wife and I would be happy to talk to you. While our relationship with David started based on business, we feel like we have gained a wonderful friend. read more

David is a great resource and agent. We really leaned on him to answer many questions and he could not be more knowledgeable, patient, and professional. Most helpful for us as first time home buyers, he was informative and objective. We saw many houses and he guided us to the right one. We couldn't be happier, and we can't thank David enough! read more

David Kent was absolutely amazing. As first time home buyers, my husband and I had no idea what to expect. David was so helpful from the beginning of the process until the very end. He was also incredibly patient with us and made us both feel very comfortable. He always listened and worked hard to find us exactly what we were looking for. Without him we would not have found our perfect home. We could not imagine going through this process with anyone else. We both highly recommend David Kent. read more

David Kent was amazing! We were able to buy our home and close with ease, even from California. He handled all the details and offered his expertise at each step along the way to ensure our concerns were addressed. We would definitely recommend working with David read more

David was very professional and his insight was very valuable to us in buying our house. He made the process simple and smooth.

David Kent assisted us in the purchase of our home in Mount Pleasant in Feb of 2022. David's help was critical to our success as we were living in Boston, MA, while searching for our dream home in the south. David educated us about the neighborhoods around Charleston, took us on many virtual home tours while we were remote, and even offered up restaurant recommendations when we came to town to visit. He offered great advice on how to make the best offer in a challenging market and never pushed us to compromise on our wish list or our budget. When we finally succeeded in having an offer accepted it was on a house that needed work. To our surprise, David did not consider his job done, he has continued to assist with recommendations for inspectors, exterminators, and architects. David has gone over and above and I would recommend him to friends and use his services again if we ever choose to purchase another home in the area. read more

These guys are the ONLY way to go when looking for a home. The advantage of a buyer's agent is that they don't take listings and are only looking to find the right house for YOU, without trying to push a house on you for a commission. And keep in mind this is at no cost to you! David Kent was awesome. Spent so much time lining up the houses that I wanted to see and helped educate me so much on the home buying experience (I was a first-time homebuyer). He helped tell me what to look for in home inspections and made sure that the entire process went smoothly. Can't ask for a better agent or agency. Highly recommended! read more

I first began my home buying process over a glass of wine with a good friend and through a complaint of the increasing rent prices in Charleston. She and I were in similar situations. She just went through a home buying process as a first time homebuyer, started a new stable job in the area a few years ago and was also looking for a home a that didn't require massive renovations. We were both in the beginning of our career with little experience in home buying, but David Kent with The Real Buyers Agent couldn't have been a better mentor and realtor. During this process I was incredibly impressed with his ability to describe the process on my level, advocate for me as a buyer and provide insight on what to look for, comparative prices, and his availability to us as buyers was unmatched. I highly recommend David to any buyer not only due to his vast experience, but also because he is approachable and accessible throughout the entire buying process and is with you through every step of the way. read more

David was everything we needed in a realtor. As first time home buyers and new to Charleston, we were nervous and uninformed of the areas. David took all our concerns and questions and directed us with thorough wisdom of the process and area. He walked us through the home buying process with advice and thoughtful considerations towards our budget. Since they don't sell properties, we felt secure that all recommendations were honest am not forced for profit. We would highly recommend David and this agency to anyone in the Charleston area! read more

Just bought a townhouse on John's Island. I was living in So. Cal and contacted David Kent over the phone. He immediately got me in contact with a lender to get pre qualified. As I flew into town days before Christmas, David was prepared to show me places all day for two days! At the end of those two days, I narrowed my choices down to 3 places and asked him to please see if I could see them again. He did! I picked the one just right for me. And we negotiated right thru Christmas. . He explained everything that needed to be done etc. This was extremely important to me as I was purchasing this new home, by myself. Being newly divorced and a bit nervous and emotional. He kept me involved the entire time. And had my best interest. I would recommend David to anyone buying a home. The entire purchase was easy and simple. read more

seriously the best buyers agent. worked with several agent on both sides of the process; selling our old houses and buying this one. Heads above the rest. Knowledgeable, connected, professional, and personable. read more

We had an absolutely outstanding experience using David Kent with The Real Buyer's Agent. We were looking to relocate to Charleston from out of state in a very difficult real estate market with properties rarely staying on the market for more than 48 hours. David did everything he possibly could to help us find our dream home. Without fail, if there was a property we were interested in, David would get us a showing same day, would go to the property and video chat to show us a house. When my wife and I decided at 11pm on a Friday that we needed to hop on a Sat 8am flight to Charleston to look at a property, David got my email and texted me at 7 am on Saturday to set up a showing. Not only that, but with no advance notice, he went on to spend a huge chunk of the weekend with us, showing us different properties and neighborhoods around Charleston. After repeatedly getting beat out by all-cash offers, my wife and I were getting discouraged and about ready to look for a rental for our family of 5 (not ideal), but David was determined to help us find a house, and he did! It was only as a result of the strong relationship and trust we built with him, that we put in an offer on a gorgeous house that was a perfect fit for us based on only his virtual tour and the insights he provided us. On a couple occasions that David was away, his colleagues stepped in to help us out and were also simply fantastic. I cannot recommend highly enough. read more

I was very pleased with my experience working with David (and Roxanna)! In fact, I sought him out after reading other Yelp reviews about local realtors - only fitting to add mine as well. As a first time home buyer, David walked me through the entire process step-by-step to where I never felt unsure of what was happening. David listened to what I was looking for, and I never felt like he was trying to sell me a home above my price range or in a development where he stood to gain financially (had this happen with another realtor in the past and ended up walking away from the process altogether at that time). His prior experience with construction was helpful as we walked through properties and he pointed out potential issues such as signs of moisture. Also super helpful in figuring out if my "what ifs" for certain homes were feasible. He made the process go super smoothly taking care of things that friends said their realtors never did for them. Totally transparent about any potential conflicts of interest - he was friends with the listing agent of one of the homes he showed me. When picking a lawyer, inspector, ect...David always had multiple recommendations - all of them highly rated on sites like Yelp - so again, never felt like he was looking for a kickback or promoting his friends for their gain. In short, would recommend this agency to any friend looking to purchase a home, and would absolutely use again! read more

David Kent helped me and my husband purchase our first house about two months ago. I couldn't have been happier with the experience and working with David made it SO much easier than we expected! David embodied two things that you absolutely must have in a relationship with a Realtor--trust and communication. I don't think I ever went more than 4 hours without getting a response to an email or phone call. David recommended other great services, including our closing attorney and home inspector who we had great experiences with as well. We were pretty "high needs" buyer who wanted to be kept in the loop constantly, so this communication helped us feel at ease. We didn't actually look for houses with David since we had been really rigorously watching the MLS and knew "our" house when we saw it, but David did a VERY thorough hunt for comparable properties to make sure our offer was solid. In negotiations, he helped us get the price down even further (another critical reason to go with an exclusive buyer's agent!!!). He negotiated with the sellers agent and we wound up with a home warranty AND $5k of closing costs covered by the sellers. I don't believe any other Realtor would have worked that hard for us and it has made all the difference! I couldn't recommend David or his associates at The Real Buyer's Agent enough. We couldn't have taken this huge, life-changing step for our family without his guidance. read more

David and his team are super professional and personable. He is very knowledgeable of the Charleston area and he went meticulously through all of the details of home buying. I would highly recommend him to anyone and everyone in the area! read more

This is the absolute best way to go when buying a house in charleston! We used Charlotte lemon who was amazing! She represented us to the best of her ability and protected our interest. Unfortunately it seems like Carolina one really monopolizes the charleston area. This being the case you do want someone to catch any kind of shadiness or squirrelly real estate agents looking to take advantage. read more

I can't say enough great things about my buying experience with David. From my first email interaction and right through to the closing and even after, he has been an absolute professional. David knows the market well and and is eager to share his personal experiences about Mount Pleasant and greater Charleston to make the home buying experience more fruitful. He knows all facets of the process and keeps the buyer's best interests in his sights. If you're looking to buy a home in the Mount Pleasant, SC area, I can't recommend David enough! read more

As a first-time home buyer, I had much to learn about the buying process and the Charleston real estate market. Because I was wary of working with an agent who was also working for the seller, I contacted the offices of The Real Buyer's Agent and got in touch with Charlotte Lemon. Charlotte was a total pro all the way through. She coached me through the entire process from the initial search to my eventual purchase. Using her search engine database and listing alerts, I was able to stay on top of the area properties that fit my budget and neighborhood preferences. (This is a great service for busy professionals who are searching while working full time.) When I was interested in further details on a specific property, Charlotte fully vetted the situation by contacting the realtors and making inquiries on my behalf. She also supplied me with detailed property comparisons that included everything from nearby home purchase prices to tax information. This kind of insider knowledge is invaluable in the Charleston area, as insurance rates and quality of construction vary widely. Charlotte is on top of all the variables that can influence a home's real value: flood zoning, structural integrity (including termite and weather damage), the age and condition of key systems and components (roof, HVAC, wiring, etc.), and future resale possibilities. Her insights are excellent, especially for a first-time buyer like me. Anytime I indicated an interest in a property, she had no qualms about setting up a visit as soon as possible. Once I was willing to make an offer, Charlotte did the heavy lifting on the contract negotiations and the pre-closing details. She also went above and beyond by working with the seller to ensure that the necessary repairs were completed before closing, as we had specified in our offer. Honestly, I would have been lost in these complicated details without her help. To top it all off, Charlotte is personable, friendly, and has a great sense of humor. If you're looking for a buyer's agent in Charleston, she's the one. read more

Contacted this agency a few weeks back about some investment opportunities around Charleston. Spoke to a very nice realtor for about 10 minutes and gave her all my information. She said she would call me back with some options. It has been more than a month and have not heard back. I called once more and left a message but no reply. Maybe they don't want my business. That being said, they should be more upfront rather than waste my time. read more

We moved to the Charleston area from out of state. Our realtor, Vikki Deveraux was the first person that we met here. She greets you with Southern grace and charm but more importantly a wealth of knowledge of the Charleston area. She has lived in the area a long time so she is able to tell you the history of the area as well future plans and trends. Each day that we looked at houses, she arrived fully prepared with a booklet which included very detailed information and pictures of each home that we would be looking at. We could then take these booklets home to study and review the information on the houses that we had looked at. These booklets were a great tool in helping us to decide on which home to buy. Because Vikki is not listing houses, she is able to be very honest with you about the listings that you are looking at. She will tell you if she thinks that something is not a good decison and can guide you in the right direction, ensuring that you make a wise decision. We can not be more thrilled with our new home here in Mount Pleasant. Occasionally, as we are out and about in town, we run into Vikki - and it is like running into an old friend! read more
