I was just depositing a check not withdrawing any money. I am wondering who came up with this stupid idea. Customer Service in banks is getting worse all the time and now they are going to start texting when you are right there. The person who came up with this should be fired! Banking already takes longer than it ever did, now they want to make it even longer. Companies don't care about their customer time at all. First the ridiculous menus on the phone and now this. Tellers use to talk to their customers so they knew who they were.

    I have used this bank for a long time, and while I have always had friendly interactions in-person,…read morethe trouble started when I was no longer 100% local. I kept this bank when I went to college, and even though I consistently told them I would be between Allentown and Long Island, there were holds put on my card somewhat frequently for normal purchases. I pushed through, mainly for the longevity I'd been with them and my family's relationships with them as well. Flash forward to now, when I frequently travel between NYC, Orlando, Chicago, and Allentown. Not only are holds put on my card even when I specifically call them and tell them I'm travelling, they actually YELLED at me that I had to change my billing address even though the address listed is one of the homes that I frequent. When I refused, they insisted by sending me the form to complete. No thank you, that's one of my homes. To further make it difficult to use your debit card, any time you use one of the mobile POS systems that smaller businesses and things like fairs and flee markets have, it is flagged because the billing address is somewhere else. Unlike other banks that send you an email and ask if it's you, they instead put a hold on your whole card without verifying with you. Overall, just inconvenient, and often lacks friendly service over the phone. If you want to be lectured by "customer service" representatives, look no further. It's a shame too- the building is beautiful and some of the people I've spoken to there have been really nice, it's either a few with bad attitudes or maybe they decide to drop the charade over the phone. UPDATE: When American Bank did not have my new number (which I faxed in over 4 weeks ago because it needed to be a written change if it was phone number and email, and was told their system was down but they were sure they got it), they contacted my father instead, who also banks there. It should be noted I'm in my late 20s. User beware if you give an honest review here, they will call your parents.

My primary benefit using this bank is no fee checks ( I'm a "senior", and I use their online banking for almost all of my bill payments. This saves me time and money. I also like the fact they have some Saturday hours. The location is closeby and convenient. It is a bit of a downside because there are no branches.

    Do not go to this bank!! Here is an updated review. (I saw one other from 2015. I guess it was once…read moregood). Walked in today to open a checking and savings account and to get a document notarized. I tried calling before going to see if a notary was onsite, but no one answered the phone. In fact, I even called the customer service number and they couldn't get in contact with this branch either. I was told they were most likely busy. Side note, any normal bank has voice automated answering and directs your call, or says we will call you back and takes your number. This bank rings and rings and says leave a message AND customer service actually hung up first time I tried. First bad sign(s). Went anyway and took my chances. When I walked in I was asked how can I help you from a lady at her desk. So I walked over. To summarize this woman who pretended to help me gave me every answer in the book of plain bullsh*t. She was not helpful at all, but was pretending to be. I bet her bs skills got her in her position. When I asked to speak to the manager she told me SHE was the manager! I was shocked. I was advised they had a notary there but couldn't help because I wasn't a customer. I said okay, well I am wanting to open a checking and savings with you today. She ran over to someone else and came back and said we can only help existing customers, and said she would look up a notary for me. WOW. There's one here but you're going to have me go somewhere else??? So basically you don't want my business? She didn't seem to care either way if she was gaining a new customer or not. That's a wonderful work ethic to have to have by the way. ESPECIALLY as the manager. Oh and by the way when I walked in it was a bunch of employees just sitting at their desks. I mentioned how no one answered their phone and she was like oh maybe the girl who answers was busy. Lol every bs answer in the book. "We were busy an hour ago" oh really? Well I called 10 min ago! What a great manager. I ended up walking out and going to a different bank where I opened my accounts there. They were so helpful and yes notarized my document no problem AND faxed for me. What a different environment. That's the kind of place to go, over the top customer service not to some stuck up branch (or should I say b****) I hope she gets fired. Do yourself a favor and skip this bank. Highly unprofessional!! Loss for them!!

No teller cages, you come in and sit at the teller's desk while you complete your business. They make it very easy to transfer you IRA , mortgage, or other accounts, in fact they will do it all for you. Young bank, when word gets around, they will probably get too busy for the niceties they extend every day now, but they seem to want to excel in personal service, and professional courtesy. Terrific bank!
