My research has piqued my interest to trying Rhonda Allison products for ethnic skin. But Megan has sold me on giving her a try for "results driven" facials. Megan impressed me initially by sharing her knowledge and reasoning behind the products used. She definitely embodies the definition of a customized facial based off whatever reason brought you in her studio mixed with the recommendations that she has from what she notices. I appreciate this honesty. I personally do not use 3x mirrors because I can't handle what I might see. So I expect my esthetician to manage the horror and make me have Gabrielle-Union-like skin without having to drink a gallon of water a day. Is this too unreasonable? Apparently not, because Megan has convinced me that she can deliver. For my custom facial she used a high frequency wand to zap my milia and other skin issues. It was such a warming feeling to find her using this machine because I JUST purchased one but was afraid to use it because I didn't want to shock myself or cause any skin damage. She eagerly showed me how to use the device and informed me that it was a recommendation she usually gave to her ethnic clients, as well. Score for Heather for being proactive! I knew all my Amazon impulse buys would come in handy one day. In addition to an amazing facial, she gives neck, shoulder, and FOOT massages. I have never had a foot massage as part of my facial so give me a second while I rejoice... (Hallelujah!!!) For logistics, Aesthetic Skin Salon is located inside Sola Salons (next to The Original Pancake House). GPS will probably send you to Target but it is located behind the Target shopping center. When you walk through the main door, walk straight for the quickest route to her studio. She is studio #29 even though the address says #31.

The esthetician I worked with was lovely and it was a relaxing facial, but I didn't have that post-facial, tiny-pored glow that I am always looking for right after. I ended up getting a facial at the Aveda institute soon after that seemed to impact the look of the skin more. The esthetician gave a bit of history about the product and stated that the owner designed them all - they all smelled great and I ended up buying a serum. I'm not sure if this is my go-to place in the future but it's definitely worth a visit.

She took notes and photos throughout the trail, which she came prepared with on my big days. On the day of my trial, she noticed that my eyes were watering (I have dry eyes). She suggested that we try putting some eye drops. To my surprise, my eyes stopped watering. Marwa remembered to bring the eye drops on both my wedding and reception day. The looks she created for me on the days of my wedding and reception were even more incredible than the trial. She is able to work with brides from different ethnicities, producing great results for all skin types and colours. She is very helpful as well. I lost the back of my one of my earrings just as I was about to leave for my reception. Marwa was very sweet to let me use the backs of one of her earrings. Our photographer said that Marwa was the best, so I decided to contact her and I definitely was not disappointed. If you're looking for a professional make-up artist for any event, I would HIGHLY recommend her for the following reasons: 1. professional as well as personable: From the get-go, Marwa was always very professional and reliable. We had a pre-meeting to discuss the look that I was going for. She came prepared and asked all the appropriate questions. Her interactions and communications (via email, phone, or in person) were always very professional. She is also very personable, friendly, and easy to work with, which brings me to #2: 2. collaborative: Marwa really worked with me to achieve just the look(s) that I was looking for. I showed her my ideas and she showed me some of hers. She is flexible and is really attuned to what her clients want. She takes into account the event, the environment (indoors vs. outdoors), outfits, etc...She thought of things that I didn't even think would influence my hair and make-up. She also made suggestions taking into account my desired look. I always felt very comfortably talking to her and she was always receptive to my feedback and requests. 3. technical skill: It is clear that Marwa has the proper training and technical skill to deliver a variety of looks. Her competency is evident in her dexterity and her attention to detail. I also appreciated that she truly took her time in achieving my look. Never did I feel rushed or that I was inconveniencing her. While she was doing my hair and make-up, she would always "check-in" with me for my input. She put me at ease and helped me de-stress about my upcoming shoot. Overall, Marwa was a complete joy to work with. Needless to say, I LOVED my hair and make-up for my engagement shoot. It was just the right amount of make-up to "show up" in the pictures, but also still looked totally natural and not overdone. My hair and make-up were complete at 11am and our shoot was 330pm - 7pm. In that 8 hour span, I never had to touch anything up or reapply any make-up other than lipstick, and that was only because I ate lunch :) She did such an awesome job and I couldn't have been happier.

Super disappointed that I wasted time and gas just to be standing outside the door. After my second phone call at 1:41 I was told simply something urgent came up. Really disappointed and upset with this experience, she did offer half off but I planned my day around this! Incredibly hesitant to utilize services with an establishment that didn't even give me a heads up or try to move the appointment around BEFORE I left work and drove out here and stood around for 20+ minutes. (I was 10 minutes early.) I will be extremely upset if my card gets charged for services not provided. UPDATE: I am adding screenshots of my correspondence with Alison yesterday after calling me twice and texting me three times and her "respectfully asking" me to take down my reviews and stop posting them. NOTE my review was 100% truthful, I find it horrifically unprofessional of Alison to continue to blow my phone up pressuring me to delete my reviews. Additionally after my cease and desist request she responded stating I was the worst experience in 4 years of business and she'd never contact me again yet hours later posted replies to my reviews trying to control the narrative. To be clear the ONLY reason she "talked with me within 10 minutes of the appointment" was because it was my second time calling HER after her no call no show. Initially she said something urgent came up and later has since said it was a scheduling error despite my having text and email confirmation. ***** FYI one of the screenshots is from last evening around 7 pm before she posted responses on my reviews trying to cover up her lack of professionalism- the others are screenshots of the texts and messages showcasing her outrageous attempts to influence my 100% honest review of my experience with her followed by my text (also screenshot) to her to stop trying to influence the reviews by blowing up my phone with calls and texts. I received the reply wherein she said I was the worst experience in 4 years of business. Then hours later she posted replies making it seem like she was 100% trying to rectify the situation. Did she offer half off, yes. Was I unable to take her up on that offer? Yes. Did I post my reviews in fear of my card being charged even though she was a no call no show because of a review from another woman who stated Alison didn't show up and her card was charged $375, so I made sure to protect myself best I could from that happening? Also yes. This entire experience has by far been the absolute most ridiculous experience dealing with a business who were 100% in the wrong and I would never recommend this woman's services due to her wildly unprofessional behavior, her clear inability to be honest, and her thinking calling and texting someone 5 times telling them to take down/stop posting negative reviews is "reaching out to apologize"

As per the esthetician's text sent in the morning saying text ASAP to let her know if I would be delayed, at 11:45am I let her know I was running about 15 minutes late- I am a new client, not from the area, coming from Minneapolis, there was also road work. When I arrived in the parking lot (at 12:12), I saw that my appointment had been cancelled with a text saying that she was unable to deliver any services that late and would charge me the full cancellation fee (that I later realized was $280). She said "with [her] busy schedule she had to have that late policy in place to respect her and other client's time." She cancelled the ENTIRETY of my appointment, even with over 2 hours left in the appointment. I tried to call, with no answer, I texted and asked if there was any way we could forego some of the services (and still end at the same time), she denied this request. I went inside the establishment to see if we could reschedule for later (which is a building with other small businesses- so unless you know that, you are searching), went to the studio and she was nowhere to be found. Her cancellation policy is as follows: "We understand that sometimes it is necessary to reschedule or cancel appointments. Therefore, please notify us at least 24 hours prior to your appointment time and we will gladly reschedule your reservation. The full service fee will be charged if it is a no show or cancellation made in less than 48 hours. We ask that you please reschedule or cancel at least 2 days before the beginning of your appointment or you may be charged a cancellation fee of $280." I did not reschedule the appointment, nor did I cancel, and I was not a no call/ no show. She asked to be informed I was running late, which I did BEFORE the appointment. I would've paid the full price for services we didn't get to/ have time for, if at least some of my services were rendered in my appointment window. But I will not be paying $280 for zero services rendered when I let her know that I was running late, showed up and still had over 2 hours left in the appointment. That makes no sense. She would've still been compensated for the services we didn't get to, in addition to the ones we did. And I was not asking to go beyond my appointment time, so in the end it's MY time that was not respected.
