A really nice bookstore with a fairly wide selection- seems to lean more on fiction; just a small nonfiction section (biographies, history, some politics maybe). Decent children and YA sections. The books are in such excellent shape you'd be forgiven if you thought they weren't used. For our purposes that weekend a little pricey (we were visiting for the weekend and the kids forgot to bring along a book or 2, so Goodwill for the bill perfectly). Definitely keep on your list of Lompoc essentials. read more

Such a great store! They sell used and new books, along with $2 jigsaw puzzles. I recommend coming with enough time to spare; the store isn't that big, but their selections are. For #booktok & #Instagram - they have a great romance selection, signed books, and lightly used Book of the Month books. For kids - they have a huge selection of children's books, including the reader books ('Level' books). They have a very good selection for horror/thriller. Obviously Stephen King & Dean Koontz dominate their selections, but the rest of the aisle is very well stocked. Please note - the used books they carry are very lightly used. There were a few books that had "broken" spines, but none of the books I saw were damaged beyond that. They have a cute selection of knick-knacks like bookmarks, earrings, tote bags, etc. They also had a few carts with $1 books & I appreciated their cart of Large Print books. Overall, I highly recommend checking them out if you're in the Lompoc area. About 30 minutes away from Solvang, but such a nice drive to a lovely bookstore. Shame I'm not a local, but I'm definitely coming back! read more

Another reason to love this bookstore: they reward students for earning good school grades. If a kid brings in their report card, they can get discounts on their books (the amount depends on the grade)! This is a great program that not only says something about their respect for students, but their respect for education and community. read more

This place is so cute! It's so nice seeing small bookstores still thriving! I went in here for a quick peek and ended up staying for 20 minutes in one section! Offers a nice range of books (keep in mind it's a used bookstore so you can't expect them to have everything but they have a lot)!! They also offer a lot of handmade crafts created by locals. I felt like everything was priced at fair resale prices. I walked away happy with my purchase, would be back again if I lived local! read more

We stopped in yesterday and found an amazing selection of literature, philosophy, and cookbooks that were both well curated and well organized. The staff were friendly and helpful. I stopped in here a couple years ago when I was driving through Lompoc while on vacation. I was reading the Game of Thrones books and had just finished book one and needed to start book two as soon as possible. They had it in stock and I was very happy to find such a nice, friendly, well stocked bookstore on my travels. They're also right next door to a great pizza place, too. I'm planning on stopping by soon when I'm on vacation again to browse, buy a book, and have a slice for lunch. I imagine heaven to be a little like this ; ) read more

Service at The Bookstore is excellent. Local authors' books are available here along with a selection of best sellers. Lots of used books, carefully catalogued for easy access. Note cards and some locally made jewelry is also for sale. The store has a comfortable, "stay and browse" feeling to it. read more

This is a great place to find books for a terrific price. I have brought my daughter's books from here for 2.50. Stephanie is very nice and helpful just as the other workers there too. If you want to read a book just sit in the chair and relax. They have many chairs for your enjoyment. read more

Well I am very disappointed with this bookstore. I have 700 books that I am trying to sell and I was told by one of the women that works in the store about 3 weeks ago that the owner had told her that that they would buy them for 25 cents per book. They couldn't take them until Oct 10. So I have spent days packing them all up and then when I called this morning the owner said they only wanted a few of the books. That would have been fine if I had been told this in the first place before I boxed them all up. Very unprofessional way to do business. read more
