Even as…read morepescatarians, we have found it difficult around Turkey to find menu selections that go beyond the "usual suspects": Vegetable Casserole, Grilled Fish, Shrimp Skewer, Vegetable Pride, etc. - all of these have their merits on first tasting, but get boring with repetition. The lunchtime buffet that we encountered here was varied, well-prepared, and delicious: sautéed cabbage, potato/rice dumplings with yogurt sauce, stuffed peppers, falafel, tabouli salad with beets ... it went on and on. Good food at a great price, all in a cozy, literate space a little bit above the busiest streets near the ferry terminal.

I didn't miss it at all here! Really liked the place. It had coffeehouse vibes (like I could hang out there for hours leeching their wifi with my laptop, or reading a good book) but with excellent food.

We were wowed and would not miss this experience if I were you.

When I said that my friends were here and I wanted to join them, he took me to their table. My friends were sitting at a two-person table. When I asked if I could get a chair, he said "no" and told us he could move us to a three-person table instead. My friends were almost done eating, so just for about 10 minutes I didn't want to move tables. When I politely asked for a chair again, he said, "Are you sure you're going to be leaving soon?" This is the first time I've ever witnessed someone asking a guest such a question -- especially when the place was completely empty. When my friends finished their meals, we continued sitting with dirty dishes in front of us. I had to walk inside to ask for a tea myself. Under normal circumstances, when someone joins the table later, staff come to the table or bring a menu. After the main course is finished, plates are cleared and the dessert menu is brought, or they ask if you would like dessert. If the drinks are finished, they ask if you'd like another one. They didn't even bother to check if we wanted the bill. These are things we call hospitality 101, and unfortunately, they are completely unaware of them. In an establishment, the goal is to make guests want to come back and to increase sales by making recommendations. While displaying this rude behavior, the "bald guy with glasses" was so self-assured that I couldn't find anything to say. He acted not like someone working at a café in Fatih, but as if he were a curator at an art gallery. Very sad. By the way, when we asked if they could remove the water from the bill since we didn't drink it, he also said "no." I've eaten at many places, including fine dining and Michelin-star restaurants. (Mentioning this because I more or less know how I'm supposed to behave in an establishment.) I'm very upset because I encountered such an absurd behavior.

A mostly young clientele (under 40), the atmosphere was energetic but not loud, no music. There is a clean, bright, farm-to-table-organic-food-purveyor kind of look to the restaurant. They start you with insanely good, crustly bread and olive oil. The menu features all day breakfast, noodles, fish, sandwiches, burgers, salads... I ordered the quinoa salad and it was delicious, as well as the fruit salad, which was huge and served in a melon. The turkish coffee came with a small tasty cake. The service was friendly, and the price was reasonable given the quality.

Let's start with the positive: the place is very well decorated with a wonderful terrace inside the Sabanci museum and the service is quite good at making you feel welcome. Instructors oversee servers helping you and intervene if need be. However the food leaves room for improvement. While I appreciated the effort to serve ordinary dishes with a twist, in most cases the food you order ends up being a completely different dish. For instance my girlfriend order pad thai and the food was more akin to spaghetti with napolitana sauce. Much of the plates on the menu are overpriced, especially for a restaurant where the staff are students. You mostly pay for their location and while the location and decor is good, it is still very expensive for what you get. We finally had soufflé au chocolat for dessert, and saw a decent soufflé being spoiled by the way they serve it. The server asks whether you want him to give you the special presentation without telling you what it is. We had the misfortune of being courageous. He made a hole in the soufflé and stuck a cone of ice cream in the middle of the soufflé, before pouring in some more chocolate sauce in it. We had to quickly remove the ice cream with surgical precision to prevent it from melting in the soufflé and cooling it in the process. The eagerness for creative twist is harming the overall experience. TLDR: Nice place, well decorated and very good service but overpriced for what they have to offer in food. Not sure if I would choose to go again.
