Funeral homes have the opportunity to serve grieving families well, and Chapel Hill - Cedar Hill has done that for my family during a horribly difficult time. Every employee we worked with was kind, helpful, and compassion, starting with the on-call funeral director to every person involved with the services we received. Isabelle was our assigned director we worked with, and she has been excellent. She responds to messages quickly and has helped us with so many details. Another employee that stands out is Teresa who served our family the day of the cremation. Her presence was compassionate and much needed in that moment. From start to finish, our options were explained to us, and they helped us provide a beautiful memorial service for my dad. They took care of so many details and beautiful touches for us. read more

Chapel Hill seems expensive. Customer service seems nice enough but heard several different stories about the death certificate.

I have never experienced such shoddy, unprofessionalism in my life. My Mother's funeral was held here. My Mother had a pre-planned funeral. She chose the music years before it actually had to be played. My Mother chose beautiful songs like How Great Thou Art, and the like. Make sure you or your loved ones also choose the artist singing your chosen songs. I can't imagine the dollar store clearance bin these very poorly recorded versions were found. It was truly sad. They were poorly recorded, very country versions of these songs instead of the Mario Lanza versions she loved. Two weeks after her funeral, I received a survey from this place trying to sell me a pre-arranged funeral. This is the part that has me FUMING. They only way they could have gotten my name and address was from the visitor book at my Mother's service. That tells me that while we were at the grave site saying our final goodbyes, some low life was making a copy of the names in her visitor book. I just cannot wrap my head around how any funeral corporation could stoop to this level. Please do not even consider this place for the most emotional gathering your family and friends will ever attend. read more

I was at a service at this cemetery yesterday and I feel this place did a horrible job. The decedent looked horrible and her eyes were sunken, as well as the makeup being done awfully, I have never seen such in all of the memorial and funeral services that I have attended, this by far iis the worse, and not to mention there was bugs all over the body. read more

We hired chapel hill through St Louis Crematorium for my Mom's services. They let us down during a time when we needed someone to guide the family through this process. 1. Poor record keep of plants / flowers --names incorrectly recorded with floral arrangements --list not provided until requested by family 2. Poor follow through with personnel --denan started the process, then on family meeting Lovey was in charge and did not know anything at all. Could not even explain the cost to us, Denan was called in to complete our meeting. 3. Flash drive had a number of pictures that were not even for the family. had to be corrected during the memorial 4. Again poor follow through from Lovey... --Flowers were not taken to the church for the funeral because again Lovey forgot to bring them lied and told us not taken unless requested by family. I talked to her the previous night at memorial she told me she would have them taken when I asked if we were to take to funeral. --moms pic was not taken to church 5. Headstone not finished. Denan told us after we realized the stone was not finished that we declined their service, that we'd take care of it ourselves. Like we'd know who to go to!! 6. Website did not have Mom listed , there was another person with the same name from 2014 that had flower orders for my Mom. When I talked to Denan she said person not listed because it went through the Crematorium. No one outside the family would know where to go. Once they added Mom to website they couldn't put the flower orders to Mom's because no one knew how!!! So it looks like anyone who ordered flowers, that they did not go through. They were to help us take care of my Mom's service during a time that we were grieving and unable to think of everything. They let the family down with their poor judgement and terrible management. The personnel needs more in depth training. I would never recommend this company! read more

My mom just recently past and I got the opportunity to work with Lavie one of the Funeral Directors. What a wonderful experience. Lavie was very attentive and compationate to our feelings and our situation. We had to change what our mom had previously arranged and Lavie and staff worked with us. My parents set up pre-arranged funerals for both of them. That way everything should go smooth. My mom recently passed away and it was NO WAY SMOOTH. IT WAS A DISASTER TO SAY THE LEAST. My poor father is 82 yrs old and here is everything that he had to go through. 1. Went to the funeral home to go over everything. Both my parents had given Chapel Hill individual photos of themselves when they pre-arranged their funerals. They could not find my mothers picture. Asked my father if he could go back home and get one. I told them NO THEY NEEDED TO GO FIND THE PICTURE. They continued to search and finally found it. 2. On Chapel Hills Guestbook my mothers name SHIRLEY was misspelled. They forgot the letter "E" and her middle initial WAS NOT CAPITALIZED. 3. My mothers obituary was to be ran in 2 different newspapers. It only ran in ONE and the one it didnt run in didnt come out again until AFTER MY MOTHERS SERVICE WAS ALREADY OVER WITH. 4. My parents chose to be cremated. My father went up to pick up my mothers urn for the church service. When he arrived at Chapel Hill they preceeded to inforn my grieving father that the urns they both had chosen and paid for, WOULD NOT fit in the nitch. NOT EVEN ONE WOULD FIT IN. HOW THE HELL CAN YOU SELL URNS THAT ARE BIGGER AND WONT FIT. THEY SHOULD KNOW THE DIMENTIONS. SOOO my father had to choose other urns. My moms new urn would be at Chapel Hill when my dad brought back my moms original urn after the church service. 5. The original urn for my mom that we had to use for the church service had a problem .The MEDALION FELL OFF THE URN. COME ON REALLY.... 6. My father went to visit my mothers niche and GUESS WHAT. THEY HAD MY MOTHERS DATE OF DEATH ON MY DADS. My mother is who DIED and my dead is STILL ALIVE. I dont think their is anything MORE ON MY MOTHERS PASSING THAT THEY CAN SCREW UP. Thoroughly impressed with the professionalism of the staff and the welcoming atmosphere of the facility itself. My MIL was certain about her desire to enlist Chapel Hill for the funeral arrangements for my FIL from the start. I dealt with them myself and witnessed most all of her dealings and found that they treated her (and our entire family) with great compassion and kindness at every step of the way. All business was addressed with a sense of providing her with the services she desired and was done at a pace keeping her comfort in mind. Of course making these arrangements are a sensitive process and Chapel Hill handled this process beautifully from the very first phone call. The staff provided excellent communication, ensured every detail was addressed (and there were MANY details), and did a great job of being available but not intrusive throughout the actual visitation and burial. The facility is beautiful, welcoming, and comfortable - a wonderful place for our friends and family to celebrate the life of my father-in-law. read more
