We stayed in the bunkhouse with my kids. Everyone was wonderful during the day. Once it got late folks started drinking (and not sure what else) and getting very loud. After 10 I politely asked what time they would be winding down as it was too loud to sleep, I was met with a drunk yelling at us (I believe he is the owner). At 1 am he was still yelling about "doing one more shot". Awful experience. Side note the next day I mentioned the experience to someone I didn't know at the boat ramp and the person immediately identified Chapparal Park and the owner who has a serious drinking problem. The other folks at the shop during the day are wonderful and extremely helpful. read more

Chaparral Park and an old time General Store. The outside area of the store reminds me of Little House on the Prarie. There are even has the dogs walking around on the property. OMG.....so many things to look at in here. We stopped for a few fishing lures and flies. Which of course they had. Plus a little bit of everything else. I wanted to hangout for a bit and look around. The woman running the store was so friendly and knew where everything was. She even knew the names of the fishing items were were looking for. Of course we needed power garlic trout bait and yep she had it. NICE job dear! If you stop in the General Store say hello Chaparral Park is a camping ground and also a rental place to house your RV or boat. It is open now and plenty of space is left rent. Don't stay in their bunkhouses! They are dirty, smelly and they charge extra for sheets and don't provide towels. The water smells and tastes like sulphur. And they don't have smoke detectors which I believe is illegal. read more

I have known Rob Robinson since he purchased the Chaparral, I can't think of a more knowledgeable guy to run this business. My son Beau & myself have stayed there on numberous occasions & used the campgrounds & bunkhouses. He had always been friendly & helpful with everything from weather & fishing reports to late check ins with us & even offered us a shower if we needed one. The store is always well supplied with everything you'd need or if you forgot an item or two. I'd highly recommend his place over any place around, reasonable rates & friendly service in my opinion. This place is very knowlegable.Vast selection of flies and all aspects of supplies for whatever you need. Great information for what is working to catch the large trout and pike of Spinney and Elevenmile, Antero and the dream stream. Very friendly read more

The worst place to go in South Park. Terrible service. Rob Robinson is the rudest person ever. One day your friend the next he is cursing at the top of his lungs. Go to Elevenmile for storage and fishing supplies. Jim is the man. You won't be dissapointed. read more

If your looking for a nice family camping area, DONT bother with this place!!! There is NO water No trees, NO septic, you have to pay extra to dump out your RV. No tent camping in electric camping spots. Even if you pay for electric camping. If you want to use your generator (no mater how quiet it is or when you use it)... Rob Robinson the owner will tell you to get out and never come back. Vicious dogs running around loose. There is Nobody in the store who can offer any advice on fishing the area. If you call the store they will always tell you the fishing is great, no matter what. There is over priced old merchandise there, if it fails there is NO chance for a return. They have rooms but they smell like throw-up and pot smoke, you have to pay extra for bedding, and if you don't clean up your own room you will be charged extra on your credit card. Rob Robinson, the owner will charge one person one price and another person a different price. Depends on if he likes you and you have money. Placing your RV in storage, its not recommended!!! If your RV gets a dent or is damaged by someone else, it is your problem and you just have to live with it. They have NO overall security lighting in the storage area like they say in there web-site or storage maintenance plan options . If you want to pick up your RV and leave your truck in storage you have to pay for another month. Save your self the trouble and go camp at Eleven Mile State Park. They have all the amenities like water, showers, laundry etc... read more
