After switching from watching KPRC earlier this month, i heard KTRK lead with a story on the nightly news about a kitten being burned alive. i immediately turned the sound off and averted my eyes. When I looked up several minutes later, they were STILL covering the "story." I will be returning to watching Channel 2 as I cannot see their point of covering tragic, TRIGGERING, too-sad-for-words events and classifying them as local news stories. I have been watching channel 13 news for about a year. I switched over from fox news. I really enjoy the news and the people on your morning show. I am afraid I will have to stop watching. Every single ad that comes on during the morning news, is something dealing with gay lifestyle. What the hell?? Do you have no other sponsors for the news? I am sick of seeing two men hugging or two men on a train platform making eyes at each other. Come on, Really, is this the best you have? Do you realize many people that watch your program are not gay and are offended by the constant gay commercials? Do you really think only gay men watch your new? That is the only ads you have. I started watching channel 13 when we moved here in 1961 and Dave Ward was fairly new to the anchor desk. Since then it seems that all of their reporters have to age out of their positions. I know Melanie Lawson has some medical issues but I really wish she would move to a new job within the company. There's just no rapport between the news reporters. If you watch channel 11 and see the rapport that the two anchors have, it's just so good!! read more

Although Tom Koch has been there since Moses was in short pants. They,be also expanded to coop channel 39 at certain times of the day broadcasting a newscast. They've usually been tops in Houston. I meet Mrs. Casey Curry at work one day. She just strolled in looking for supplies with her young child in her arms. At first I didn't realize who she was I was just helping out on the floor. As I was joking it up with her someone walked by and said " Is that her? I think that's Casey from channel 13 news." At that moment I asked her " Are you Casey..? Casey Curry from the news?" She said "yes I am I'm." I was like " I can't believe I didn't notice right away." She replied "No that's okay no worries." And we just laughed. I asked if I could have a picture with her and she replied "sure." I begin to get nervous out of nowhere like for real I couldn't even control my camera phone. I kept pressing the record button so I kept making videos lol. Then I got it together and took the photo. She was so cool. I made sure not to get her baby in the photo she was holding him off to the side. I hope this review sheds some light on how humble and down to earth Casey was and I bet the whole staff is the same way. I am surprised that there are no reviews written for the city's news stations. Channel 13 is awesome. Like any news station there is a bit of actual news, some fluff stories (which are very entertaining), local events, and breaking news. I believe Channel 13 has grand coverage of what's happening in Houston. I recall as a kid that we could tour news stations. I just might see if that is still a thing since their building is so close to where I live. read more

Yes one of the best news stations in HTX. It brought me to fame. I met up with some of the news reporter after I told them about my startup and they were really sweet. I was just arriving in Houston two years ago when I met up with one of the reporters. They do a really good job on covering the issues that happen in the city of Houston and the rest of Texas. I really like the 6pm hour news. It feels great to feel informed of what is going on around the world after a long school day. I also like how the news reporters are active users of social media. It is a good way to report the news while I am on the go. The only problem is I have to watch on California time and via mobile device. The weather report not only covers where Houston is but almost most of the western US. It is really convenient that way. read more

This broadcast constantly overstates the weather and makes nothing into something. Every summer weather broadcast has the meteorologist tell you the "feels like" is over 100° and to avoid going outdoors. Hurricane Henry was nothing to the Houston area but over hyped. The channel is going to broadcast unnecessary Tropical Storm Harvey info during the Texans game and make what I tuned in to see really small on my screen. Just a bunch of overzealous people spewing hype and their disdain for Houston summers. read more

Eric Barajas sounds like a mentally challenged individual when reading the news broadcast. He over annunciates every syllable and breaks every word down in this unnatural speaking manner. Then he says the Mexican words with a thick Mexican accent. It's like listening to a mentally challenged Spanish speaker trying to learn English as a second language while live on the broadcast. Very annoying. So much that I have began this fast forward through his parts of the broadcast. Listen to him try to pronounce a white person's last name. It's comical. Keep that diversity Houston! Your coverage of the HLSR parade was awful.You did not show Parson Mounted Calvary from Texas A&M. I was expecting to see parade entries, bands, trail riders. I understand the rodeo is about raising money for scholarships, but just would have enjoyed seeing more parade and less talking. Just a suggestion, have a special show just about rodeo background and scholarship winners. It was the same last year. Hope for more rodeo parade coverage next year. read more
