First of all they should change their name to a new sign outside on yelp since they're not the same people or create one. My experience with this office last month was horrible. If you look at their awning it appears as though they accept most of insurance, but they don't. Misleading! I had some sort of emergency: allergies and wanted to see Dr. asp but couldn't even though they don't look busy and told to come back tomorrow with cash. Not sure why they wouldn't accept insurance. Dr. Yom is amazing! I've been going to her for over a month and see such improvement. She is thorough, thoughtful, and caring. Of all of the acupuncturists I've been to, I feel like she is the best at customizing the treatment based on your needs, both with acupuncture and herbs. Today was my first visit with Dr. Chang and though I have multiple areas to address the main one we did today was the tightness and stress in my upper shoulders and neck which is giving me a hard time sleeping, as well as the pain in my lower back since I was face down anyway ;) After a thorough consultation and a really warm conversation I went into the treatment room laid face down, and was treated. I asked them to make the music a little louder so I could zone out the lights went off and so did I. I just cannot get enough of that acupuncture delightful rest. So 45 minutes went by in five minutes, and though I'm not feeling much yet as it was only yesterday and I do have to go twice a week for about three weeks, it was enjoyable. As I was leaving they had a hot tea for me to drink for some of my other more internal issues and they gave me a complimentary packets of tea for the next couple days as well. This was all included in the one $80 initial price which I think is less when you go back other times as you do not need the consultation, and he will write up the medical treatment and purposes for my visit so I can submit it for flexible spending dollars and use it with that IRS benefit. Just to cover all bases I did get a prescription for acupuncture from a rheumatologist in case the IRS requires it but I think flexible spending covers acupuncture on its own so FYI definitely look into using this pre-tax money for acupuncture if your company offers it. Besides for the fact that they're located literally across the street in Sunnyside right on 43rd Ave., the place is very lovely very clean feels very authentic and the doctor was very conscientious of being clean and doing things by the book. It was not a chop shop & it was quiet! In addition the ladies at the front are extremely lovely to work with- everyone had such nice bedside manner. It felt like a mix of East & West- very Eastern philosophy with a clinical professional feel. I'm only deducting one star because I want to wait until my treatment plan is complete to see how much results I have seen otherwise my experience was a five-star experience. **** update from visit number two Dash I went right into the treatment room Dr. Chang came in and we proceeded to go with my treatment we attempted to do my right ankle which is very painful and I could not take the acupuncture needle for the first time ever, so I know that's a point I need to work on because the ones that hurt is the where you need it the most. Let me first say though acupuncture doesn't hurt you don't feel the needles but if you feel them at all that's where you need them - this one was a little too much for me but Dr. Cheng took it out and rubbed the spot to feel better right away. What I think is most interesting about this visit is twofold - one, I kept saying to myself when am I going to going to that amazing trancelike sleep when is it going to happen how much longer, meanwhile I was dead asleep for 45 minutes and didn't even know it. The office medical assistant came in removed all the acupuncture needles from my body and I still was asleep she had to wake me up I was like it's over 45 minutes flew by again just like that. Heaven The second interesting thing is Dr. Cheng put very small patches on my back and neck with mini acupuncture needles along with two on my calves and on my wrist at my request due to wrist pain. He said I can wear them until my next visit just to be careful of course. I had never experienced that before but I'm really looking forward to seeing how I feel when I wake up tomorrow or if my wrist does not hurt when I work out. I wholeheartedly agree with Emily M. Dr. Monica Yom is truly amazing! In addition to being so kind and attentive to your needs, she is a master practitioner. I have been to 8 acupuncturists in my life. Dr. Monica is by far the best. I did not realize until recently that acupuncture can help with allergies and sinus issues. I have needed to use a Neti pot daily for years. I have had three treatments so far and have had such remarkable improvement I have only had to use the Neti pot once! I am sure soon it will be never. I notice yellow pollen on the ground, which I am highly allergic to, and so far no reaction! She is also helping me with pain related to scoliosis. Dr. Monica is forward-thinking and utilizes several machines I have never seen in other practices for specific issues. I have not seen these devices in other acupuncture offices. I am also very interested in the far infrared sauna device. Some might be interested in using it for weight loss, but I am much more interested in the detox and many other health benefits it offers. Dr. Yom has provided me with herbs that greatly help my energy levels. Her front office assistant is accommodating, kind, pleasant, and well-trained. The facility is well-maintained and spotless. After a car accident and many MRI's and X-ray I was told I had a mass on my chest (unrelated to accident) and directed to get a sonogram where nothing was found. But I could feel pain in the area where they had seen this originally. I decided western medicine was letting me down and went to acupuncture and eastern medicine. So glad I did! After intake with doctor and questions about my health she felt me in different unrelated part of my body. Then to a quite room and many needles (if I had my eyes closed I wouldn't of known) in various part of my body. Then a lovely rest in warm soothing setting. I go to this place as regularly as I can afford, and I really like it. It doesn't have any kind of sketchy vibe at all. This is always a fear about acupuncturists' offices -- that they'll feel sketchy -- even if the acupuncturists themselves are totally legitimate. There are two acupuncturists who work there, a man and a woman. I like and feel comfortable with both of them. That's so important with health care people! If you go, you should know that after your appointment, they give you this herbal concoction to drink. It tastes gross, like all herbal things do, and I don't know what the hell is in it, but I trust them and drink it in the spirit of "if it tastes bad it must be good for you." And it's not like I felt bad or anything after drinking it. If you're looking for a good acupuncture place in the Sunnyside area, I highly recommend this place. read more

This is a terrific acupuncture place. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They even helped work with my insurance company. The two Drs. (Moon and Chang) are also good, and a little different from each other. Dr. Moon is more thorough in her pre-exam. Dr. Chang is more easy-going. Both Dr. Moon and Dr. Chang are exceptional medical professionals. Not only are they gifted practitioners, they are knowledgeable and professional. They have a very caring and supportive staff that make the whole experience worthwhile. In the past 5 years, they have become the first line of medical care I receive for anything that ails me, from migraines to body aches, pains and sprains. I have not had a migraine in years after the first series of treatments years ago. Each time I go I feel at the very least 50% better. More often, it is better than that. Before starting to talk about my experience with Dr. Chang let's just get something out there. To the person who wrote the bad review: Acupuncture isn't a magic wand that will make your pain go away in a blink of an eye. Acupuncture yes it can be discomfort specially if your muscles are sore and tender. But nothing that one can't tolerate. If you were looking for a quick fix, you are more than welcome to go to a drugstore and buy some pain killers to mask your pain. I have always get out of my session felling great. My other point, the receptionist as you addressed them, one doesn't know their skills just to label them as such. When one goes to the dentist who is the one who does your panoramic or assist the dentist making the molds for your night guards or whatever other things required. I thoroughly enjoyed my first session here. The waiting area is a bit small, but the staff was more than hospitable. My acupuncturist asked me detailed questions about my pain and listened attentively without interrupting on when it started and what I am experiencing now. I walked in with acute pain and a lot of tension and walked out feeling 70% alleviated. I know that is an arbitrary number as I am not a statistician, but I also know that acupuncture requires several treatments. Still, the first session definitely removed this wicked tightness I had in my neck and shoulder. I believe that the rate is affordable for a first time and the followups are also decently priced at $60 per half hour. You get complementary tea to help with blood circulation and it is meant to respond to particular elements that is causing your pain. I thought the gentle manner of the doctor was great. One thing I would change is the repetitive piano music or request to listen to my own, meditative playlist on my phone next time. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Chang for a few weeks now for a back issue and he has helped me tremendously. His staff is very sweet and helpful. The office is clean and very relaxing. After every treatment they give you a complimentary tea, nice and warm. Dr. Chang speaks English, Korean and Spanish, so he is able to communicate with a wide variety of clients. Having tried everything from heat patches, muscle relaxers and every single pain relief tablet and cream they sell in Duane Reade, the only thing to relieve my extreme round the clock agony was Dr.Chang! I have been going for back pain for the last 3 weeks and have seen a great improvement in the aches and pain departments. The treatments have done what injections and pain killers have not. They haven't cured me.. They HAVE made my pain tolerable and made me function better than I have in many years. I am not saying it is for everyone (although you should at least try it) but it has certainly helped me. I can now walk where I was unable to before. I walked into his very pleasant, professional and state of the art acupuncture office with increasing difficulty in walking and within 2 sessions, I was out of pain and able to take walks for exercise. i have my whole family going ,i should taken 20 day off and scoliosis , my nervous systems in back is very hot times that my wife sleep in another bed , by here the heats is reduce to 90%, back lower lumbar are bad that doctor say just take a pill but warn me it can cause addiction, take it once a week ,but when it get bad i go and drop the pain to 90 to 95 but must keep going to reduce pain due to swallow nerves (it bad for me) . my father ( and my wife too) goes there too . This was my first experience with Accupuncture, and never again. It was not anything like the positive comments written here or about Accupuncture in general on other sites. It was most unpleasant. After two treatments and no improvement (I wasn't expecting miracles), I am never going to go back to this practitioner again. My back side looks like a pin cushion. It was a painful and unpleasant experience contrary to the usual comments about Accupuncture being relaxing. It was actually traumatic. I don't believe that a practitioner should have a receptionist remove the needles. During the treatment, I had to call when I was experiencing extreme pain and numbness in my foot for a receptionist to come in and then to go get the doctor who was busy treating another patient. The needles that were left in and supposedly would not come out for three weeks were causing me pain two days later. I had to remove the bandages myself which was quite easy. I am still sore two days later. They promote drinking special herbal teas which are extremely bitter. It's a good marketing tool, when after you get your first few free portions, you can buy one treatment for the bargain price of $6.00. You are supposed to take these twice a day, so you can add another fee onto your weekly cost of Accupuncture. That makes for another $84 a week in tea. I have never written a review of anything before, but I just felt compelled to share this very negative experience. I help anyone who is reading this has better luck than me. read more
