Another store that I am so happy to have come to Ottawa, and have been patiently waiting to visit…read moresince it has opened. If you love dropping money on fancy lingerie, and undergarments, then you will be in HEAVEN!!! Maybe this is too much information, but I am CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP, when it comes to these things, and only a good sale may suck me in to purchase such items like this at places like Victoria Secret. But, I just had to check this store out!! I browsed through in the dimly lit store, UNTIL I found displays after display of MAKEUP!! I quickly ran to the back of the store and started swatching eye shadows and bronzers all over my hand. A lot of items actually caught my eye but I could not find price tags on ANY of the items. I searched and searched on the packaging, the displays, basically ripping everything apart. I made a mess, and thought maybe I can grab the attention of sales associate, but nope, everyone was busy merchandising trying to get the new shipment out on the shelves. Finally I found an associate at the cash and got a price check only to find that not only is the lingerie expensive, but the makeup is too. I did not want to play the guessing game regarding the prices for each makeup item, so i made my way out of the store and thought it was not meant to be.... Until I found the displays of perfumes, to which I sprayed myself with some yummy scents and went on my way. At the end of the day, this is a very nice store, with a lot of selection and stunning pieces. The layout is perfect, and it is not too crowded. Customer service was basically non existent and not visible, but I am sure if you need assistance and track some one down, they will be glad to help...hopefully!

So I love going to this Laura/Melanie Lyne because in addition to selling the current season's…read moreitems at regular price, they are also an outlet. They have items from previous seasons at lower prices and I've found some really good deals here. They also have a small selection of off-season items, so if you need a pair of shorts in the dead of winter or a coat in the middle of summer, you might find what you need here. They have a huge selection of regular sizes, petites and plus sizes. They have mostly business attire, but they also have casual wear and evening gowns. I love how I can actually buy evening gowns here off the rack and not need any alterations (albeit only from their petite line). So all you short and slim ladies (e.g. 0P and 2P) who have a hard time finding formal wear that doesn't require paying an arm and a leg for alterations, this is the place for you. Selection is not that great for these very small sizes, but I have purchased many gala dresses here (and a fraction of the regular price). This location also carries a good amount of Joseph Ribkoff, Frank Lyman and Katherine Barclay. Although they usually start at size 8. So great for normal sized people, but not for those wee like me :( I will be the first to admit that many items at Laura/Melanie Lyne are matronly and frumpy, but they also have some more fashionable pieces (although I guess "fashionable" is in the eye of the beholder). I go here often so I can swipe up those pieces at a good price. They have fitting rooms both at the front and at the back of the store. There are washrooms at the back (in with the fitting rooms). This Laura/Melanie Lyne is in a strip mall, so there is a lot of free parking.

I did well scoring Canada-themed t-shirts at cheap prices. I didn't have anything I truly needed to buy during this store visit, but I did see a roller skate t-shirt that I have loved ever since I saw it a few months back. My willpower does kick in now and again. Considering that I did buy three t-shirts on this trip, I took a pass on getting the roller skate one. I'll live. This store was bright and pleasant. There were decent prices and tons of selection. The cashout lineup seemed to be moving nicely. What wasn't pleasant was a woman in a minivan who parked behind my car just as I got into my car. She wanted to pull through and ended up honking at me. I'm sorry, but I need my GPS to guide me around the city. I am under no obligation to move immediately and I need time to figure out my next destination as a tourist. And, where are your manners? Who honks in a parking lot when you want to pull through a parking spot and are impatient about it? Oh, rude you, that's who. That was a first for me. My windows were open. I put my hand out to signal that I was parked. She ended up straightening her minivan, got out of it with her herd of kids, and headed into Old Navy. I was proud that I showed restraint. For a moment, I thought that flipping her the bird was appropriate. However, stooping down to her level doesn't make this situation any better. I feel for her kids. Her behaviour is hopefully not inherited by them when they become drivers. (221)
